My curve 8900 lags like crazy

Hi, I was just wondering how I cud reduce the lag that's on my phone. I just got this phone. I'm not sure if its the mdeia card ... But there isn't much fun it. I do battery pulls, and it still gets laggy !!

Clear your cache. I think you open your web browser, click the menu button to the left of the ball, click options, click cache operations, and clear everything. I use my phone a lot so I have to do this every 3 days. Do it at least once per week.

  • Skype lags like crazy

So firstly my older version of Skype just refused to connect. I tried everything and one of these was to upgrade to the lastest one which shows Skype 6.22 in my remove programs list.
Now it connects, but it takes up about 33% of my CPU and just locks up and lags and goes into not responding. It does run okay for a while and then just all of a sudden increases CPU usage something crazy. Restarting it makes it okay for a few minutes again and then same cycle.
    How do I fix this?
Even when I try to downgrade to a later version it doesn't allow me into group chats even though single chats work. I can't leave the group or remove it to be added again. The other people say I am still showing as in there.
Is there anything that can fix this? In general Skype lags at times and is slow and seeming as if every now release is making it worse.
I am using Windows 8.1 latest update with the lastest update Skype.
    Any suggestions here?

This is on my work laptop. So I am kind of stuck with this piece of blergh they gave me...
The weird thing is the pc performs fine and everything else runs fine.
It is JUST  Skype Desktop version that lags.
I have now been forced to use this Windows 8 Skype abomination.
I even tried 4 different versions and did all the temp file removal and Skype setup _old thing.
When I use old versions I just can't be added to group chats at all and when I use the latest deskptop one it lags like crazy. Sigh... How is a popular program like Skype THIS buggy?

  • Video lags like crazy when mirroring Macbook Pro to Apple TV

So, the Apple TV is wireless, and youtube works fine, as long as i use it within the Apple Tv. However, when I mirror my Macbook Pro to the Apple TV, and play a youtube video or any other video on my computer, it lags; it lags a LOT!!!
    How do I fix this?
I've heard about configuring the internet speeds from 5ghz to 2.4ghz. Will this work? and if so, HOW to I configure these settings on my Macbook or Apple TV?
Please help! I got the Apple TV because we got rid of Foxtel, and I've got some movies on my hard drive, and TV shows, and I'd like to watch them, but the lag makes the movies and tv shows unwatchable!!
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance

Switching between 2.4 & 5 GHz may bring mixed blessings. 5 GHz will likely avoid most interference but being a higher frequency is more easily blocked by walls and other objects 2.4 GHz is able to pass straight through. It therefore depends on your location which frequency would be best for you.
Switching would be carried out in your router settings (assuming it supports both frequencies).
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

  • Photoshop lagging like crazy?

Okay, so I recently bought Adobe Photoshop CS6 Student/Teacher Edition and installed on both a laptop and desktop. On the laptop it works perfectly, but on the desktop, it's lagging horribly. I have changed the drawing mode to basic, closed out other programs, changed the performance settings (and discovered I can use more memory on the desktop than on the laptop, so why is it so slow?), uninstalled/reinstalled Photoshop, and reformatted the computer. I am using an NVIDIA GeForce 9100 graphics card, which I updated, but PS is still lagging. Also, I did not have this issue with Paint Tool SAI, Paint, Autodesk Sketchbook Express, Adobe Photoshop Elements, or even the trial version of PS. (We did buy a new monitor with a larger screen since I last used the CS6 trial.) Is there any way to fix this issue? I love the new monitor but I hate being unable to draw with it.

Yeah, but then why wouldn't  Photoshop Elements 9 and all the other software slow down? Sometimes CS6 stops lagging for a few minutes but then it always goes back to lagging. Also, on the laptop, I get an error saying the graphics processor won't work (or something like that - I can't remember what exactly.) Even though all the other drawing programs work fine, sometimes Netflix slows down. We tried updating the video processor and reformatting the computer again. I haven't had a chance to try Photoshop, but Netflix is still slow and I think Photoshop may start lagging again.

  • Leopard video lagging like crazy

So after installing Leopard on my upgraded G4 Cube (1.5GHz, 1.5GB RAM), I'm noticing insane video lag.  Nothing moves smoothly; Dock icons jump around.  I suspect that I need a newer video card that the factory-installed one.  I'm mainly just posting to make sure that's the culprit; I want to make sure before dropping 50 dollars on one.  So, is it the most likely culprit?

Yes, the OEM Rage 128 Pro is a mangy, lazy dog, totally incapable of dealing with Leopards graphics requirements.
You need a graphics card that supports OpenGL 2.0 (2.0 is best, OpenGL 1.5 at a minimum) and also supports Core Image.

The easiest to get into the Cube is a flashed Geforce 6200.
More of a challenge, but the fastest card a 2x AGP machine can use, is a Radeon 9800 Pro.

  • WRT54G v8 -- Lagging like crazy...

Well I have my PC wirelessly connected with the Linksys wireless adapter, and my laptop is also connected wirelessly with a Broadcom adapter. But my PC hits 2sec lag spikes every so often whereas the laptop at the same time doesnt have any problems.
    What the hell?
The lag spikes are while both PC's are playing World of Warcraft.

I had the same problem and I also play WoW.
My laptop (has built-in wireless adapter) works fine, no lag, nothing.
My desktop was hard-wired.  Then I bought a Linksys wireless PCI card.  At first I had problems with the driver being recognized correctly (stating it was a Broadcom instead of Linksys).  Even though it worked, I was getting sloooow speeds.
I finally got the correct driver from the CD to work and it worked fine, but then I started getting lag spikes.  I had to get the latest driver from the Linksys website and reset the router.  It's finally working correctly (for now), but I think it's also because of Vista.  I've never had this problem while running XP Pro.  But now that both are running Vista, I've had nothing but problems.

  • Firefox Lags Like Hell with Flash

    Ok, here's the deal.
After long use Firefox starts to lag like crazy with Flash. And... It doesn't seem to be a problem with Flash. It's more likely that the browser itself what is causing the issue.
After I use Firefox for some time Flash starts lagging badly. BUT! This happens only if I have my Firefox window active. If I open the Task Manager on top of Firefox window, Flash stops lagging as if Harry Porter himself cast a spell with his magic stick making everything work like a charm.
I made a small video showcasing the bug: https://www.dropbox.com/s/l2c5pbn1xwy58dc/12-11-2012%2019-07-15.avi
    - The bug still appears even in Safe Mode (all addons disabled).
    - With hardware acceleration disabled in Flash bug still remains.
    - With Chrome and other browsers everything works fine.
    - The bug will go away after restart - and then will start to appear after Firefox is in use for some time.
    - Normally it re-appears after I close my laptop's lid forcing it to go to sleep mode. After it wakes up - the bug is there.
    - There was no such a bug in the past - it started to appear as new Firefox versions were released - don't know the exact version but I assume it all started from version 14 or 15.
    Any thoughts?

Did you try to disable protected mode in the Flash plugin?
Also make sure that you allow the plugin-container process in the firewall.
You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:
*disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
*disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
*disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
*downgrade the Flash player to version 10.3 or 11.2

  • How can I get my blackberry curve 8900 to update to 5.0 and get wifi to work?

I bought a blackberry curve 8900 around a year ago on an AT&T plan back when data plans werent required, so it just has minutes and texting. because of an issue i had with data before, i have data disabled completely on my account to prevent any mistaken data being used up and charging me. my AT&T contract recently expired so i called them up and got my blackberry unlocked, and will be soon switching to tmobile.
My problem is that it refuses to update past 4.6 over to 5.0 because of some restriction on it placed by AT&T, and my wifi wont work unless i have data enabled for the same reason. Is there anything i can do? I've tried installing 5.0 from different service providers onto my phone but it never installs properly.

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
While you can (with just a trick or two) use any carriers OS package for your specific model number, it won't do any good since all 5.0 level OS's require a data plan, regardless of which carrier. So, without that, you can't update to 5.0. Further, it is the data plan that activates BIS -- which is what is used to run the BlackBerry Browser...hence that non-functionality also. Basically, a BB without a data plan is, to many, pretty useless.
There are other browsers that bypass BIS and will use a generic data plan (assuming you have that)...OperaMini and Bolt come to mind. You might give those a try.
    Good luck!

  • BLACKBERRY CURVE 8900 WONT OPEN MEDIA FILES*!

HI, I HAVE A BLACKBERRRY CURVE 8900. THE PHONE DOESNT ALLOW ME TO OPEN UP MY MEDIA FILES (SONGS, VIDEOS) EVERYTIME I TRY A WHITE SCREEN COMES AND IT SAYS UNABLE TO PLAY CONTENT. PLEASE HELP! THANKS

Glitches like this will often correct themself.
Try another reboot as described. Leave the BlackBerry powered on.
Remove the battery for five minutes, replace and reboot.
If it continues, you may need to simple reload or upgrade the operating system.
What is your Operating System loaded to your device?
Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.4.x.xxx"
    What is yours?

Is there anyone know an application for blocking unwanted call & SMS FREEWARE for Curve 8900???
like black&whitelist... but i don't want the shareware...
    Thanks a lot.

I don't know of a free one. You can also look at iCallManager.

  • BB Curve 8900 died and will turn on but still has the red "off" sign

    Hi all.  Great site.
I have a Blackberry Curve 8900 and last night the battery completely drained and I could not connect it to a charger until I arrived at work this morning.  I plugged the phone in around 9:00 A.M., and even now at 2:00 P.M. it is still not charged.
Strangely, the phone WILL turn on if connected to the charger, but the radio is still off.  The red "OFF" sign is still there on the upper-right corner of the screen.
Is there something I can do to get it to actually charge back to where I can use it?
    Thanks for all your help!!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
These batteries typically do not like to be fully drained. Sometimes doing so renders them useless. But, there are a few things for you to try before you determine that as the root cause.
    1) Get a new known good battery. See if it will charge properly in your BB. If so, then your battery is indeed damaged and useless.
    2) Give your battery to another known good BB of the exact same model. See if it will charge properly. If so, then your BB or your charger may be damaged.
    3) Try a different known-good charger in a known-good wall outlet. If it will charge now, then you know it to be your charger to be damaged.
These steps will help determine where the root cause is, which will guide you to the actions necessary to remedy the situation.
    Good luck!

  • Curve 8900 won't view surveilence cameras correctly

    Hi!
I am a locksmith with Carl's Lock Shop in Co. Spgs, CO.
We view a particular web site with our shop cameras in order to sell our services...
    The web site is www.videoalert.net
You will automatically be re-directed to thier mobile site...
should say "mobile access" or "mobile viewer" at the top...
Enter user name ppp and password pp then click next...
Choose either rover1 camera or pan and tilt (camera 2 is is disabled)...
Now the image, if you have any other Black Berry other than a Curve 8900, will update every few seconds with still pics...(no Blank screen between pics)
If your un-fortunate enough to have been suckered into buying a Curve 8900 you will get one image for about five seconds then instead of refreshing it just goes to blank screen...(if it does refresh it will just blink a half secord glimpse of the pic every thirty seconds or so)
T-Mobile Black Berry/ PDA  support is no help at all...(have tried every setting in the phone and some settings only an **bleep** would attempt)
Have been connected with Black Berry support to no avail also...(if 877-255-2377 case # 7151298 was a legit deal( they seemed kinda dumb)
If you let the screen saver come on it will bring up a permanent pic that will not refresh...(Same thing as turning off java script in browser config)
It's painfully obvious to even a moron like myself that this new Black Berry has a different Java scpript or operating system  that is not compatible with this particular 3rd party web site, that neither T-Mobile nor Black Berry are responsible for...Duh
I don't need them to tell me that...
I figured that out before I called them and spent hours trying to fix the un-fixable...
    Dumb as I am, I know when I have bought a "Pig-In-A-Poke".
Oh Yeah the Streaming video on this piece of junk skips and locks up unless your on Wi-Fi so don't believe the "Hype" about how good it plays...
"IF" anybody has any ideas on what will fix this thing...
Call me direct at (phone number edited out for privacy)
    Thnx,
    Stang
    problem not solved...
    cliked solve button inadvertantly...

  • Changing My Blackberry Curve 8900 Housing

Hi, I’m planning to get a Blackberry Curve 8900. Before I buy this phone I would like to know if I can change my housing to pink. I’m aware that a phone comes in 3 parts. A front cover, a middle cover and a back cover. I would just like to change the front and back cover as I think the changing the middle cover would be to much trouble unclipping parts. Is changing the front and back cover as simple as unclipping the cover of and on or do I have to remove and unclip parts to do this. I’m scared to unclip to much as I think I may break it.  Pictures or videos would be very helpful. Thanks.

Hi. I am wondering if silicone cases for the Blackberry Curve 8900 are better than a hard case? I ask this because I originally when I got my phone bought a hard case for it and the battery would get very warm and drain at an alarming rate. Once the case came off things were fine.  But I really would like to encase it if possible...would silicone be better or just cause the same battery issues again?  Advice please.  TY.

  • Serious Problem with Curve 8900

    Hello.
A have a Curve 8900 phone which was on the contract with T-Mobile a while back.
I bought it like new. It was used a bit, but never dropped or anything so hardware is perfectly fine and it did work while it was with the previous owner on the contract.
Contract was over and the man sold the phone to me. I unlocked it for usage with any network using the code I found for it and now the phone shows that it is unlocked and sees any network just fine.
Thing is that though the phone shows that everything is ok - I am UNABLE to make any calls, receive any calls (online works through my home Wi-Fi connection and Bluetooth connectivity is fine.)
Phone shows that it is CONNECTED TO network. (Tried even the original T-Mobile card) But no calls could be made or received. SMS cannot be received or sent as well.
I tried many things up to rewriting the firmware, wiping out - nothing helps. I have the tools needed to rewrite the firmware and system but I need to know where to look...
I need your help badly (just please do not write answers like replug the battery) - I am no novice in the field of phone repairs and unlocking but it is a first time I encountered something I'm even clueless what to do and what could be the cause. And yes - I do not have experience with BlackBerry in particular (just before you ask)
    Please help.
    Best Regards
    Jack

Sounds like your phone is BLOCKED. The likely cause is the person who sold it to you reported it lost or stolen after you bought it.
Many phones will show as having a signal even when blocked although you cannot make calls as in your case.
Sorry mate. Take your phone back to the person you bought it off.
