Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Leave the device to charge 2-3 hours, and then, still connected to the USB cable, remove the the battery from the device a few seconds and reinsert it. If it boots--leave it to charge to 100% (check Options > Status for the percentage).
If it doesn't boot--try using a wall outlet charger if you are not. If you are connected via USB to the PC, make certain that you have Desktop Manager (or the USB device drivers) installed, which you can download below.
Make certain your USB cable is connected to one of the PC's main rear USB ports. Not a USB hub, nor a monitor USB port, nor a USB port on the front of the PC.

    PLEASE HELP ME
    Thank You
    Nathan

    Hey hakmilton,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
I would suggest contacting your network service provider to look at possible repair and exchange options.  Since you tried a new battery and the LED won't come on, we can not even try reloading the device software.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

Try another reboot as described. Leave the BlackBerry powered on.
Remove the battery for five minutes, replace and reboot.
If it continues, you may need to simple reload or upgrade the operating system.
What is your Operating System loaded to your device?
Look at Options > About, third line down beginning with a "v.4.x.xxx"

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):
With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall charger
Leave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
    Remove the battery
    Wait 15 minutes
    Insert the battery
Wait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display does
This has been known to "kick start" some BBs.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:
Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happens
Obtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happens
The results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • My Blackberry Curve 9360 wont turn on.

My phone was fully charged in my pocket, I hadn't looked at my phone for about an hour, I took it out my pocket and it was rebooting itself, which it never normally does. The phone didn't even get halfway and just turned off. After about 2 hours I tried again and it turned as it normally would but as the evening progressed this kept happening. In the end, I left the phone off and waited for the morning.
The next morning I go to charge the phone and connect it to the computer but it wont turn on at all. I have left it to charge for about 2 hours and still nothing.
I don't know what to do

    Hello Salway1,
    Welcome to the Community
Please connect your handheld with pc using USB cable and check whether pc detect your handheld or not.
Further, pull out battery and connect your device with charger without inserting battery & wait for 5 to 10 mins, a NO BATTERY sign will be shown on your handheld. One you find NO BATTERY sign, insert battery without un plugging charger & wait for 5 to 10 mins. Hope for luck..
    Thanks..!!

    Hi zoe_leanne,
    Welcome to the Support Community!
Since your BlackBerry® Curve™ 9300 smartphone is unable to power on fully,  please follow the steps in one of the following KB articles to reload the software to resolve this issue.
For Windows® : "How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader" http://bbry.lv/IAfXWd
For Mac: "Unable to application load a BlackBerry smartphone showing JVM 507 or JVM 513 using BlackBerry Desktop Software" http://bbry.lv/J0V8BH
Please note that this process will remove all data from your BlackBerry® smartphone. If you have a previously taken backup file, you should be able to restore your data from that backup.
    Hope this helps.

  • BB Curve 8900 died and will turn on but still has the red "off" sign

    Hi all.  Great site.
I have a Blackberry Curve 8900 and last night the battery completely drained and I could not connect it to a charger until I arrived at work this morning.  I plugged the phone in around 9:00 A.M., and even now at 2:00 P.M. it is still not charged.
Strangely, the phone WILL turn on if connected to the charger, but the radio is still off.  The red "OFF" sign is still there on the upper-right corner of the screen.
Is there something I can do to get it to actually charge back to where I can use it?
    Thanks for all your help!!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
These batteries typically do not like to be fully drained. Sometimes doing so renders them useless. But, there are a few things for you to try before you determine that as the root cause.
    1) Get a new known good battery. See if it will charge properly in your BB. If so, then your battery is indeed damaged and useless.
    2) Give your battery to another known good BB of the exact same model. See if it will charge properly. If so, then your BB or your charger may be damaged.
    3) Try a different known-good charger in a known-good wall outlet. If it will charge now, then you know it to be your charger to be damaged.
These steps will help determine where the root cause is, which will guide you to the actions necessary to remedy the situation.
    Good luck!

  • BB Curve 8900 died and will not turn on with the red lights on all the time

    Hey all
The Blackberry Curve 8900 I have battery completely drained yesterday afternoon and I could not connect it to a charger until I get back home last night.  I plugged the phone in around 11:00 , and even now 8 in the morning still wont be able to switch it on and the red light is on all the time.
Its a brand new one, I dont know what should I do to make it working.
    Thanks for all your help!!

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Typically, these batteries do not like to be fully drained...while rare, it has been known to render the battery useless. But, before you jump to that, there are a few diagnostic steps you can take.
Get a known good and fully charged battery -- put in in your BB. See if it works. See if you can charge.
Get a known good other charger, attach it to your BB, see if it charges.
    Try a different power outlet.
Give your battery to someone with the same model BB that they know charges fine. See if they can charge it.
The results of these steps will guide you to the root cause...which could be your battery, your BB, your charger, or the wall outlet you were using.
    Good luck!

  • My curve wont turn on at all! *please help!*

i got my blackberry curve 8520 over a year ago, ive had no problems up to now when it wont turn on at all. i have searched forums and tried plugging it into my charger without the battery and leaving it for 10 seconds then putting my battery in, but nothing! i even bought a new battery for it and charged it for 12 hours but still nothing. and help is MUCH appreciated!

    Hi leedslad,
Welcome to BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
Is your BlackBerry detected by your Desktop Manager when connected?
If so, try backing it up and clean reloading the device software. A backup is recommended as this will remove any data from the device. http://bbry.lv/bpv7DT If it doesn't connect, try forcing a clean reload of the software using this article. http://bbry.lv/dl7hmf

  • Help! my curve wont turn on!

my phone was on charge and i was listening to music on it and then the screen went blank. Now it wont turn on i have done a battery pull but nothing happened! i connected it to the computer but nothing happened! what do i do?

hi, to try and turn your phone back on, pull your battery out and connect it to your charger, *that is while you battery is still out* wait for the LED light to **bleep** on and wait for the not charging error to show, your phone will go on and will show your battery with a RED cross on it, when it does that, you can now put your battery while still on charge and automatically th cross will disappear and your phone should be on now
