My Curve doesn't work!!

Hi,
I bought a blackberry curve 1 year ago in France. Now it doesn't work properly. The button for scrolling doesn't work.
What can I do? Where is the After sales service's Blackberry?

The Blackberry is designed to be reset by removing the battery whilst the device is powered-on. Leave the battery out for a minute or 2.
See if that resolves the problem. If not more information will be needed before making suggestions. Please provide as much as you are able of the the following
Blackberry Model.
Carrier Name.
Do you have a Data Plan?
Operating System Version go to Menu > Options > About - it looks like v5.0.0.681
Memory for Device and SD Card Options > Memory
Any error statement or code.
The Exact nature of problem - the more info the better.
When this started and whether it started just after an update or new App download and which App/s theme/s download.

  • Wiping AT&T Curve 8330 when home page doesn't work

          I tried to move one icon yesterday - something I've done lots of times successfully.  Suddenly all of my icons disappeared from my home screen.  Now I cannot access home screen general options to wipe my device clean and restore the information.  I can only get to a few icons by hitting the space bar, bringing up my history of phone calls and then switching the application from that menu.  How can I get to home screen menu when it's a blank.  I can receive and send phone calls and email, but by Blackberry button doesn't work.

    Hi there, just to be safe, when you get to the homescreen, can you try pressing the BB Menu button and ensure that there is a check beside "Show All"?  In addition, try doing a battery pull - while the device is on, remove the battery for 15-30 seconds and then reinsert it.
    If neither of those options work, then you may need to do things differently.  Start by backing up the data on the device so that you don't lose it (you can do an advanced back up and just backup the things you need like messages, contacts, etc and leave everything else off.  Once you've done that, if you have your phone password protected, you can simply input the wrong password 10 times and that will wipe your phone and restore it to factory condition.  If you don't have a password, then there are 3 party applications that you can install on your computer which can do this for you.  One such application is called BBSAK.  Simply install it to your computer, then plug your BlackBerry in and click the "Wipe Device" button on the first screen.
    Once that is complete, you can reload the data you need back to your phone.

  • Another BUG in Acrobat 9.4.5 -- Find doesn't work

    I made the mistake of updating to the latest version Acrobat 9.4.5, and discovered that the Find feature doesn't work right.  For example, I enter a word to search in the "Find" box, and click return.  In past versions, the PDF would jump to the first instance of the term or phrase and highlight the word.  Now, the PDF jumps to the page, but doesn't highlight the word!  So... I'm stuck reading through text to find the word, which is a lot of extra work and time that I don't have. This is a critical problem because I search documents for terms all of the time in my job.  
    I've found one workaround that isn't very satisfactory, but it is better than nothing.  Instead of using "Find Next in PDF", I use "Open Full Acrobat Search" which is a command off the Find pull-down menu.  This command opens up a separate window, which is annoying because it disappears behind the document if you need to page through the PDF file. However, if I do the search, it shows all of the instances in a pane in the context of the sentence where it appears.  Then, if I click on the instance of the word in this pane twice (Yes, TWICE), it will highlight the word in the PDF. You cannot use the Find Next button as you could in previous versions, because this function will not highlight the word.  Anyway, given there are other bugs in this release that I've read about in this forum, I'll most likely just go back to the previous version and completely disable the automatic update feature in Acrobat.  I wish going back was a quick process, but I don't think it is.
    I'm also going to tell everyone in my circle of friends to avoid automatically updating Adobe Acrobat in the future. Adobe obviously doesn't test the software well. Wish I could charge Adobe for the time and frustration they've caused me!

         The Acrobat 9.4.5 update bugs where the first "hit" on each page is not highlighted when doing a Find/Search and no longer being able to use Shift & Ctrl on the Pages pane thumbnails to multi-select and move/delete pages are well reported by many to have been introduced coincident with the Acrobat 9.4.5 release and not a MS Windows update.  I'm not sure what is going on with your 9.0.0 Pro Extended.
         For seasoned Adobe to break such commonly used features in Acrobat 9, never have regression tested these basic functions given the 3 month (or longer) release cycle, and not have broke it in Acrobat X doesn't reflect well on their development/test process.  Then, there are web forum recommendations prodding to upgrade to Acrobat X -- which completely changed the User Interface and will result in significant loss of productivity while bridging the learning curve and dealing with new functional/compatibility problems.  Furthermore, it is something how OCR Suspects are never found/flagged in Acrobat 9, and then were finally fixed in Acrobat X (forcing the need for a paid upgrade to get a bug fix and have to relearn the interface to boot).   
         Adobe's poor quality 9.4.5 release update does me more harm than good when considering other settings to improve Acrobat security (turning off Java-Script, not automatically trusting sites from the Win OS security zones, and not allowing the opening of non-PDF file attachments with external applications under the Edit menu - Preferences).  Adobe has made no official commitment to fix its bugs or provide a release date in the 10+ weeks since the awful 9.4.5 code was thrown over the fence to unsuspecting auto-update customers without any practical/simple way to back it off to 9.4.4 -- even though in all probability it will take the programmer one day each to fix the bugs with some additional time to test/release).  It is interesting that there have been no critical Acrobat security issues (as evidenced by no Out-Of-Cycle releases since 9.4.5), which should mean their programmers have more time to fix these bugs and restore stable functionality in 9.4.6.  As for "not being able to use Shift & Ctrl directly on the Pages pane thumbnails to move pages" (another 9.4.5 bug), the circumvention to drag a window around a group of pages, hold down Shift, and drag a window around a second group of pages should be further clarified with the following: Once your blue highlighted contiguous/non-contiguous pages selection is made, be sure to drag a thumbnail graphic directly to move the selection and don't try to drag the blue shaded perimeter area (which results in clearing the blue highlighting).  This does provide a decent circumvention for that bug -- as compared to the cumbersome "Full Acrobat Search - Advanced Search Options - double-clicking each Result line" circumvention for the Find/Search first "hit" non-highlighting bug.  I implore Adobe to listen to your customers and please take a "do no harm" conservative approach to updates/enhancements in the future.

  • Link Device Switch just doesn't work!

    Was really excited to get my spanking new Z10 but its been marred with issues ever since I got it! Now the biggest problem for me is the sync. I have a 9700 on OS6 and have been trying to use the device switch to get all the data transferred onto my Z10.
    I started device switch and it successfully backs up the 9700 but when I connect the Z10 and start the process there, in 1 second it shows data successfully copied and then gives me a communication error (Failed to read the device backpup types) and then no data has been copied on to my Z10.
    This is extremely annoying! Can anyone please help me with this! Thanks!!

    Agreed, it doesn't work.
    Have tried via a media card.  Copied the "DeviceSwitch" directory to every possible location on the media card and it still doesn't do anything.  I suspect the Z10 is looking for a different directory name than that created on the old phone (Curve 9320 running 7.1).
    Have tried the PC transfer, this was worse.  The only thing that transferred was calendar items.  Shame that it stored events from a few years ago to current dates.  It's as if it didn't take the year into account and just loaded old data starting with the current date.
    This is incredibly poor programming.  This is my fourth and LAST BB.  I've only had it for a day and after 4 hours of trying to do a simple copy I'm ready to throw it away!  I have no patience left for the company I have supported for the last 6 years.
    UPDATE - The Z10 won't read the media card from the Curve as it has a different format.  This is why it doesn't find the DeviceSwitch directory with the data on it. Does anyone actually TEST software they write these days?

    My brother gave me his Blackberry Curve 9360, with BIS still working. I added BIS to my mtn topup 50 as an extra, and BIS won’t work. It works on my curve 8520, but for some reason won’t work on the 9360. My brother was cell c, so I figured out if it wasn’t maybe that it was locked to cell c carrier, but it isn’t. I have wiped the phone a few times, even removed the OS and restored it, but BIS still doesn’t work. Please Help Me, I have been at mtn already and they don’t know what’s wrong!!!!     Hi there Juan,
    In some cases, the PIN is locked to the prior carrier for some time. It may resolve itself in a couple of days, or you may need to get your brother to call Cell C to have them release the PIN from their network. It should then be able to start working on MTN.

    In photoshop CS5, Brush tool doesn't work on an adjustment layer

    I Created an adjustment (Curves) layer and did the curves adjustment.  Then I did an Edit Fill (Normal Mode, 100% Opacity and Use: Black).
    I then try to use the brush tool, but it doesn't work.  I've done this hundreds of times before and suddenly it's not working.  Rebooted the system, but that didn't help.
    I know how to do a screen shot, but it doesn't paste onto this screen.  How do I get that to you?

    Hi I have a problem with my Blackberry, it's the Blackberry curve 9220. I bought it the last week.. When i try to go in to app world the telephone say that I have to update appworld, i click on "update" and the phone tries to go in the blackberry site to update it but it doesn't work it automatically return to the first step where it says UPDATE, I have just call my provider and they activate me the Blackberry service but anyway it doesn't work.. Please help me

    Please try this sequence:
    1) Remove AppWorld from your BB
    KB10040 How to view or remove installed applications on a BlackBerry smartphone
    If it requests that you reboot the BB, do so
    2) Do a Batt-Pull reboot (power on, remove battery, wait, insert battery, wait), even if redundant to the one you did in step 1.
    3) Install (on your BB) a fresh copy of AppWorld

    Again, if it requests to reboot, do so.
    4) Do another Batt-Pull reboot
    5) See if it now works.

  • My Curve doesn't play mp3. Help.

    So, I have a Curve 8520 (I bought it a few weeks ago). I tried to play my mp3 files today and it won't work. It says that it can't play the media and an "error" has occured. It plays on my laptop but when I play it on my Curve, it doesn't work. I formatted it and put the files back but it just won't work. Please help me.

  • Youtube doesn't work!!

    I've got a blackberry curve 8250 + youtube doesn't work on it at all. The video will load then the screen will just go black and nothing happens. I've tried the youtube app + the mobile youtube + the same thing happens.

  • WP Greek Century in Mac doesn't work with Dreamweaver

    I am a many year PC user and have finally made the leap too Mac and its another learning curve .. That said, in Dreamweaver and in Mac, WP Greek Century does not work!  I have reloaded the font and all I see is the alpha #.   If I load it into any browser, it still will not read greek.  My old PC didn't have a problem with this.  Some of the download sites say that this font, WP Greek Century, works with both PC and Mac.  The one odd spin to all this is that this greek font works in Fireworks ... Is there anything I can do to make it work in Dreamweaver?  Please advise and thanks.  Mark

    Fonts don't work on the web like they do in print.  Any font you use on a
    website will require that the end user have that same font installed on
    their system.
    I did try to load that font from a free source (assuming this is how you
    got it).  It is a PC TrueType and doesn't appear to work at all on the
    Mac.  Now if you are looking for just a few characters you can code this
    into the HTML:

    .html .  As far as other fonts, this greek font seems to work on Mac:

  • "Linear" curve doesn't exsist in After Effects

    Hi! I can't do a simple LINEAR curve in motion in After Effects.
    Even when I select anchor of my curve and set "Make linear" i got this:
    I don't want to make "Easy Easy" curve. I want simple, linear which is going streight without any offset of motion.
    But this is impossible. I try 1 whole day and nothing. Everytime I got strange motion curves like screen above.
    But I want just have curve like that:
    How to do this? I repeat, a button like this doesn't work and causes strange curve shape lik 2nd screen above:

    Oh, for Heaven's sake.
    Here's an example in a 1280x720 comp:  the pixel in the uppermost left portion of the comp is 0,0.  The pixel in lowermost right portion of the comp is 1280,720.  The center of the comp is 640, 360.

    As always the first step is a battery pull restart .Please do it like this While Device is Powered On remove the Battery wait for a min. then re-insert it back wait till the device take a long Reboot.See if problem resolves.

  • Camera on blackberry curve 9320 not working

    Hi. I am in real need of help now. This problem started 1-2 months back, but I only noticed it about 1 month back. The camera on my blackberry curve 9320 isn’t working. At first, when I opened the camera, it said that I needed to close other applications to use the camera, and I did do it, but the camera still didn’t work. Now, when I open the camera through the icon or the convenience button on the right of the device, this screen comes up. It doesn’t let me take pictures for anything, but does let me open the options. It does the same for the video camera. Please can someone help me.  I need to sell this phone to get a Blackberry Z10 but I cant sell it with a camera that doesn’t work. Please, anyone reply with a solution ASAP. Thank.  />

    The simplest way is to, on a PC (you cannot do this on MAC):
    1) Make sure you have a current and complete backup of your BB...you can find complete instructions via the link in my auto-sig below.
    2) Uninstall, from your PC, any BB OS packages
    3) Make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    4) Download and install, to your PC, the BB OS package you desire:

    It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.
    5) Delete, on your PC, all copies of VENDOR.XML...there will be at least one, and perhaps 2, and they will be located in or similarly to (it changes based on your Windows version) these folders:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    C:\Users\(your Windows UserName)\AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML
    6a) For changing your installed BB OS level (upgrade or downgrade), you can launch the Desktop Software and connect your BB...the software should offer you the OS package you installed to your PC.
    6b) Or, for reloading your currently installed BB OS level as well as for changing it, bypass the Desktop Software and use LOADER.EXE directly, by proceeding to step 2 in this process:

    Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC.
    If, during the processes of 6a or 6b, your BB presents a "507" error, simply unplug the USB cord from the BB and re-insert it...don't do anything else...this should allow the install to continue.
    You may also want to investigate the use of BBSAK (bbsak.org) to perform the wipe it is capable of.
    You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
    Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
    If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
    If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
    Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
    If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
    Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
    When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
    If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
    If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
    You may also need the use of these tricks:

    If you are on MAC, you are limited to only your carriers sanctioned OS packages...but can still use any levels that they currently sanction. See this procedure:

  • Curve doesn't see Outlook

    The desktop s/w (v4.3) for my new Curve doesn't see Outlook on my PC, so I can't sync any of my data.  I'm still using Outlook2000, but the old BB desktop s/w used to work with it just fine.  Any ideas?

    4.3 Does not support Outlook 2000.  If you want to use 4.3, you will have to upgrade to Outlook 2003 or 2007.  If want to stick with Outlook 2000, you will have to uninstall 4.3 and reinstall 4.2.

  • Mini-DVI to S-Video Adapter doesn't work

    Hi, I am using the Mini-DVI to S-Video adapter from apple to connect my macbook to the TV. But the only thing I get is a grey flickering picture on my TV. When I click on the monitor-button I can see that my macbook detects only a monitor (but not a TV) in addition to the macbook-LCD-display. I tried all different resolutions, but needless to say it doesn't work.
    Can the adapter be broken, or is there a problem with the macbook?

    If you connect the Mini-DVI to S-Video adapter, the monitor button on the menubar should show resolutions for Color LCD in one section and NTSC/PAL in the other.
    A grey flickering picture is indicative of picking the wrong standard-PAL vs. NTSC.
