My dad is reading my imessages!

my dad and i share an apple id for our music and contacts and such, when i syned my iphone, i got imessage, but since icloud came with it, my dad gets all of my imessages! how do i make sure he does not receive my imessages?

BUT ... whoever on the same Apple ID can pick and choose whichever phone # or email address he/she wants to see on his/her iPhone, iPod or iPad. If your parent or spouse want to spy on you, it is so easy and you won't even know ... and there is nothing you can do except to get on their idevice and manually uncheck it ... but it takes only three seconds to check it back. It is so annoying. I spent 30 minutes last night reset two iPhones, two iPods and a iPad ... and realize it takes no time to mess it all up again.

Is it possible that the person who sent the message to your phone sent it to your phone # instead? Try sending a message to your phone via the email address and see if it shows up on the iPad.

• Siri has stopped reading new iMessages when iOS 8 came out. I have not updated my iPhone 5 to iOS 8. Any ideas?

I use Siri all the time. I have found it very helpful. When the new iOS 8 came out, Siri stopped reading new iMessages. I have done all of the usual reboots, etc without any luck. Since it happened the same time as the new iOS 8 ( even tho I did not update ) I wonder if there is some other issue. Have you heard of this issue and do you have any suggestions?
Thanks

SSiri has also stopped reading my new text messages. She just says "you have no new messages." This also occurred at the same exact time I upgeaded to iOS 8. I have a 5s

• If I have two factor authentication on my iPhone can someone read my iMessages on their iOS device?

If I have two factor authentication on my iPhone can someone read my iMessages on their iOS device?

As you probably know iOS devices can only be physically synced to one computer at a time. If you mean will iTunes Match keep all your "devices" up to date with all our music then, yes, that is what the service is designed to do.

There are two methods to recover deleted imessages.
1. Restore them from a previous iTunes or iCloud backup.

• Installing Facebook displays my Dad's photo in iMessage.

When installing Facebook on my iPad (rather than just logging in via the app) it suddenly displays my Dad's photo as mine in iMessage.
I bought him his first iPod and I registered my iPad to his account when we first bought Apple products. He just bought me the the iPhone 5 and may have registered that to his account as well.
We have different email addresses to log into Apple and different payment methods now so how do I separate us so that I am recognised as me and not him?
I am looking to get an iMac and want to iron out any problems beforehand.

• Why can't I read old iMessages on iPhone 5c?

Suddenly I am unable to scroll back further than 1st November in a particular iMessage conversation, the thread only started in October when I got the iPhone I have contacted Apple who are unable to explain why this has happened. My message settings are set to keep messages forever but what is the point of this if you can't actually read them! Any thoughts or ideas would be gratefully received.

settings / messages - there should be a "toggle" here to turn it on or off

• How do I manage conversations on iMessage for iPad. After I've read an iMessage how do I 'hide' the conversation

When using iMessages on iPad mini I have a list of people I'm messaging and the first few words of the last message on the left side of the screen. If I select one, every message we've sent comes up on the right of the screen. I want to know how to close the full list of messages so all I see is the list of contacts on the left of the screen.

I've got an idea. Message yourself a couple of pictures. Then tap your name to open. Then you can have your list of senders without any messages showing, only the the pictures you sent. Another idea, start your messages from contacts. Then you'll have your contacts with no messages showing.

• My daughter can read my iMessages sent to her phone

I've been trying to figure out how to get my messages off of her iPhone. She updated her iPhone with the newest software, 6.1.3 and accidentally added my number/ account to her phone when asked about accounts so now she is able to read imessages sent to me from other people on her phone. How do I remove this from her phone?

Eric Ross is partly right you need to seperate apple id's but you need to go to setting> message> send and recieve at> tap on the apple id and sign out and then sign in with her own apple id

• Can I get notified when someone reads a iMessage I sent on my Mac?

I would like to get notified when someone reads what I sent to them on Messages. I am using a Mac and if there is no solution to this, I don't need it, I'm just wondering if it is possible. Thanks : D

No what I mean is an actual notification (like when your computer notifies you about updates)... so yea. I don't think its possible though :/

• I have an iphone 6 and my ex partner is able to read my text imessages remotely without having access to my phone. How is this possible and can anybody help me with this matter as it is a gross invasion of my privacy?

Hi everybody,
I have an iphone 6 and my ex partner is intercepting and reading my imessage text messages remotely and without any access to my phone. Can someone shed any light on how this is possible and if so provide me with a solution to my problem as this is a gross invasion of my privacy and i seem powerless to combat this problem!

It sounds as if your ex has your AppleID and passcode. Change the passcode.

• Read receipts in iMessage - are they always accurate?

Are read receipts 100% accurate using iMessage from iPhone to iPhone both running iOS 7? I sent a message to my partner I sat and watched the report go from 'delivered' to 'read' a few seconds later. She claims she didn't read the message till the next morning, hours later. So is she lying, or does iMessage get it wrong & say it's been read when it hasn't?

Get together with both iPhones in one room and watch both screen while you send and receive iMessages. See for your self when your iPhone receives a Delivered and then a Read response from her iPhone. Just to make the experiment a little more interesting, you might have the last action on her phone was reading an iMessage from your iPhone. Now set her iPhone down and send it another iMessage ...what happens with regard to the responses your iPhone receives?

• HT3529 My iMessage used to tell me when another iPhone user received and read my text, now it doesn't. Is there a way to fix it?

Help?

no. The other user would have disabled "send read reciepts" on their phone. This is their option to control if they want you to see them reading the iMessage or not. Just ask them to re-enable it. But most people do not like this because its a personal preference.

• Cannot read imessages

have to constantly reset phone have to copy message to text to read and cannot read in imessage. I have tried reseting the phone but still does not work.

Did you turn off messages on your iPhone AND your iPad and then start all over again, turning on messages on the iPhone first? That's usually how the phone number becomes accessible in Settings>Messages>Send & Receive at>You can be reached by iMessages at ....
