My dad's computer receives mail fine, but will not send mail.

I have tried inputting different smtp servers, but even the smtp servers that I can use just fine on my own macbook fail when used on his.  Also his internet connection is fine.

Have set up Telus account as per instructions - will receive just fine but will not send (SMTP server not responding).

I  have this problem to amongst other errors on a brand new iMac only 1 month old. Pretty "sad" with these multi million dollar companies that cant help out the customer and give out the proper instructions that MANY people are having . At least Telus makes an attempt to help,by logging in to your computer.Apple does nothing  but help waste my time. I am already regretting getting this expensive thng and already having problems. Why cant it ever be just plug it in setup  and go ?

  • Since upgrading to v7 my email will accept in mail but will not send mail?

Since upgrading to v7 my email will accept emails, but will not send mail any suggestions?

    Hello Lifechip,
    Try a soft reset and troubleshoot the problem, if you do not know how to perform a soft reset click on the link below;
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/#section_1
If the problem persists, try logging out of email by going into
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Account > Delete Account
After you have done so, click on Add Account right below the list of emails, enter all your details.
    Wish you good luck,

  • Receiving mail fine, but can't send mail

For some reason, my outgoing mail servers are all showing offline. I can receive mail fine. I have my own domain names, and they are all housed on the same host. My boss has one of the same domains and he can send and receive mail fine. I can receive mail, but can't send mail out unless I use my gmail server to send. All my other domains are showing offline on the outgoing. How do I get them back online, and is this a Macmail problem (my boss uses Entourage), or is it a problem with my Qwest DSL? I don't know where to start.
I did call the place where our domains are hosted and all is OK there.
    Thanks,
    Carole

Problem - Cannot send eMail - pop up box says smtp server needs password - if password used this is not recognised.
Solution - Go to Mail>preferences choose Accounts, select one of the accounts.
Look at 'outgoing mail' server, shows ' smtp.(name of server.com) (offline)' then click on it and choose 'edit smtp server list' - the box will show description - '(name of server)', server name - 'smtpmail.(server name.com)' and in use by account - '(account name)'
press the '-' button and the above details will disappear.
Press '+' button and type in 'smtpmail.(server name).com' in the server name box - if you are prompted to save changes, click 'OK' - this may only happen when changing the first account ..
All should now be OK and you can now check if eMail can be sent..
Open an 'unsent eMail' in the Outbox by double clicking on it and clicking 'send' it should be sent.

  • Iphone 5 receives text messages but will not send text messages

Since yesterday my boyfriends iphone 5 will not send text messages. He can receive them but when he goes to reply it doesnt work. He has turned his phone off and on and that seems to work for awhile but then the same problem happens again where he cannot send a text message. Was wondering if there was any way in fixing this or why his phone is all of a sudden doing this.

So I should update this. The phone actually loses service, I have reset the network connection as well as I have updated the carrier settings and the phone is still losing service randomly. I called the carrier and they told me there is nothhing they can do unless we bring the phone in, they believe it could be the sim card because everything on their end looks to be fine. So I'll be going to the carrier store this evening to see if they can fix the problem if not then I will be going to the apple store. Do hope this problem gets fixed soon.

  • TS1307 cannot recognize mail password and will not send mail..iphone and web work mail no problem

mail will not send and continuously asks for password and rejects last documented password change. I cannot send mail only receive it on the MacBookPro BUT...I can get web mail and use send on iphone...mail cannot be recieved on iphone now.
    help thankss

Use the Apple Mail Connection Doctor (Apple Mail's Window menu > Connection Doctor) as a first step.
Also recognize that Apple Mail tends to (also) toss out the same password error dialog for errors other than password errors.  This means that network errors and network configuration can be reported as password errors.  (And folks that receive the password errors can then reasonably try different passwords, which means that the wrong password can (also) then get recorded in Keychain.)

  • Cannot setup e-mail on ipad2 accepts account but will not send mail ?

cannot setup e-mail on ipad2 accepts account but will place messages in out box and not send ?

It could be that your ISP wants you to use a specific outgoing mail server. Check with your ISP. Sometimes they will only allow you to use their outgoing mail server when you're on their network and not your own. For example, if you use Optimum Online they may only let you use mail.optonline.com for outgoing so you couldn't use mail.yourdomain.com.
They do this to cut down on people sending spam from their networks.

  • Mail (5.1) will not send mail

I am having an issue with mail.   Everything seems to be working, but no outgoing mail is leaving.  I have removed and added the account again, have checked the service provider (yahoo), successfully sent via another account on my Macbook pro.  I can't think of anything else to do - any suggestions?  Went I send, I get the spinning thing right next to the sent mailbox.
    TIA!

I don't have my Yahoo account set up in Mail, but one thing you can try is to send mail from your Yahoo account thur the outgoing mail server for the account that does work.  Mail sent this way will apper to come from your Yahoo account, and replies will arrive in your Yahoo inbox.
In the Mail Preferences, click on the Accounts tab at the top, then click on your Yahoo account on the left.   Near the bottom of the page in the middle is a check box for "Use only this server".  Uncheck it.
    Close and save your changes.
Now when your compose mail from your Yahoo address, you should get a pop up menu to the right of your FROM pop up, which will allow you to choose a different outgoing mail server, obviously, choose the outgoing mail server that does work
Now, with all that said, depending on exactly what mail server you have that does work, and to some extent your ISP, there may be restricitions that will prevent this from working as it should. But give it a try!

  • Hi I have a mac osx lion10.7.3 and i can't get my mail set up with a blue yonder.co.uk address inbox works fine but i can't get outbox to work will not send mail any idea's thank's

And, you are sure you have provided the correct username and password for you email account? I'm not familiar with Virgin media, so you might contact their tech support to find out why you are having a problem sending mail but none receiving mail. I assume your mail account has always been POP3 and not IMAP. Typically, the outgoing mail servers are not the same for the different types of account service.

  • My gmail account receives mail, but will not send, forward, or reply...it gets stuck in the spin and then I have to force quick firefox.

My gmail accounts receives mail, but will not send, reply or forward. Also cannot open settings. It gets stuck in spin mode.
I worked with an apple tech, tried several things, and then she suggested I contact Mozilla support.

    Hey Butterworth,
You may need to use the information in this article to help you troubleshoot the issue with your outgoing server:

  • Mail receives OK but will not send for smtp account.  Exchange server receives/sends OK

mail receives OK but will not send for smtp account.  Exchange server receives/sends OK  I'm away from home, using a family-member's wireless network that has always worked OK in the past.  Today, the same problem occured while waiting in a hospital waiting lounge.  Any ideas?

The outgoing mail server may be rejecting mail from your network address. Typically that happens when your mail service provider is also your ISP, and you connect to it from another network. The SMTP server will allow connections without a password from anywhere, but it will only relay mail from within the ISP's network. It could also be that your account on the server has expired or been suspended.
If you need to send mail from outside your ISP's network, use an independent mail service provider. I don't have a specific recommendation.
