My dad's imessage hacked by auction site

So this afternoon my dad sent me a weird text telling me about an auction site. So I'm guessing my dad's imessage was hacked by the auction site. Is there anyway to get rid of them? Btw, my dad, sister, and I have iphones. My dads is a iphone 4.
Also I would like to mention that my sister got a text from somebody else from an auction site. Heres a picture of the conversation.

I open a new GMail account, and to confirm the new account, GMail asked me for a phone number to confirm the new account, I provided my cell number and I received a code on my Messages from GMail, and I activated my new account.
After a minutes I received another message from a unknown number, in the text was showing a number from my contacts and a site for me to click and the password as my phone number.
No doubt some of my information was hacked.
How they did, I can't understand. Was from GMail? Was from my computer (Mac Book)? Was from my Messages on my IPhone?

It will be great help if suggestions are towards framewrk/language/tools.Adobe? You mean Flash here, right? You've already been given the best advice possible with the info you've provided, and Flash appeared as just one of the options.
Anyway, in all seriousness, take a look at Seam framework, it has a lot to offer in web related projects and it even plays well with Flash (or so I've heard). And, if you're in the mood for heavy exotics, you might want to give JADE a look (for "communication" purposes solely).

  • The Web of Trust has reported my website as an attack website. Someone hacked into that site and I have since cleaned it up. How can I get a good WOT rating again?

How do I contact Firefox and other browsers to give my website clearance after it has been hacked and determined not safe?
Currently, my website www.balancingchanges.com comes up with a WOT warning. I have not made any changes to my site for nearly 2 years, but when I looked in my folders, someone had added some files in April 2010. I have since deleted those files and changed my FTP password.

  • Imessage hack?

I handed in my iphone 5 to a service company because the speaker wasn't working, they needed my passcode etc but I made sure to outlog myself from all apps and iMessage. However, when I got it back now, my apple laptop asks me if I want to add this number to my iMessage. What I get is an unknown phone number and the option to add it to imsg because it was used on apple id *enters my apple id* on *enters the name of my phone*. When I check my phone, this number is added under "send and receive". Does this mean someone hacked into my phone, someone who works in the service?
I deleted it and changed my password for appleID, does this mean I'm safe?
    Thanks for any advice!

You shouldn't need to change your gmail password unless you gave it to them. What I meant was change your Apple ID password. In general an Apple ID password should not be the same as the password for the email address that you used for your Apple ID. As far as bank passwords, if you use the iPhone's password vault and they had access to it you should change the bank passwords, but if you don't or it wasn't accessible you should be OK.
It would probably be a good idea to add 2 factor authentication to your Apple ID. Not because of this incident, but because it's generally a good thing to have. You should also add it to your gmail account if you don't have it there already.

  • Has anyone created an auction site in BC?

We have a client who wants to build a real estate site that allows online bidding for properties. I expect it would be based on the basic real estate web app, allowing punters to sumbit a bid, displaying the highest bid and notifiying users if they have been outbid. I'd like to have a look at anyone else who's done this using BC funtionality.
    cheers

You can not properly build that on this platform. You can fudge lots of aspects of it but no. You need a dedicated system which likely will be heavily modified to meet the needs of the client to do this properly.

  • When ona auction site i click on a picture to get a closer look another mozzilla screen opens but nothing in it, it happens on on every page on other sites also.

when i click on a thumbnail of a pic from ebay or any webpage to get more info the page comes up blank

Step one is to log into a newly created admin user account and see if the problem persists.

  • IMessage showing up on another device when not supposed to

Ok, recently I have came across this VERY frustrating experience with iMessage. Here is a brief background on how I set up my account:
In my family, we have several iPhones (4 & 4s) and iPad (1 & 2). Since we all want to share the music and apps under the same Apple ID but not our imessages/facetime, I decided to create an unique email address as the sent & receive address for each individual device. So for example, I would have let's say [email protected] as the email address on my mom's iPhone, so that any imessages or facetime sent to that email will only show up on my mom's iPhone whereas the [email protected] would be on my dad's iPad etc. We have been using our own email addresses all this time without any problem until we upgraded to iOS 6.
Here are the problems we have been encountering recently:
    1. At times, our iMessage would log out by itself and make us re-enter the password for the Apple ID.
    2. With the new iOS6, I noticed that we would actually see a list of all the email addresses that are associated with my Apple ID show up under Setting > iMessage or Facetime. At first, they all had check marks in front of them and eventually I figured out that I would actually receive all the imessages that are sent to the email addresses I have a check mark for. For example, if in my iPod setting > facetime, I see that [email protected] and [email protected] are both checked, that means whoever sends an imessage to my mom's iPhone or my dad's iPad, I would also be able to see it. So what I did for each single device was to uncheck all the other email addresses in that list and only checked the one that the device has always been using previously.
At first, everything worked fine, we all got our own imessages without getting others. But after a while things started to get out of control. One night, I was using my iPod (which uses the email address [email protected]) to send an imessage to my friend's iPhone (which uses her own phone #) and next day, my mom told me that she saw my imessage on her phone too! And it appeared as if she was the one sending it out instead of me! Similar problem happend a few days later, where my dad's imessage with his colleague showed up on my iPod.
But I re-checked all the devices and made sure that only ONE email address was used for each single device and they are all different from each other. So has anyone encountered this problem? Any way to solve it? It's kind of scary because your private messages with friends or girl/boyfriend would just randomly show up on your parents' devices once in a while @@
I would really appreciate it if someone can lend me a helping hand! Also, this is my first time posting on Apple Forum, so I sincerely apologize if I happen to put this at the wrong section. Thank you!

all ios devices which are signed in wiht the same appleID get all imessages same deal with facetime
make an appleID for each device

  • IWeb site blank in IE, but perfect in Chrome, Firefox, Safari

    Hello all,
I'm sorry, I know this question comes up again and again, but what I have read and attempted doesn't seem to help my website. I just started using iWeb last week and I really enjoy it. I was using Dreamweaver before which is a great program for CSS and HTML editing, but really doesn't compare to the simplicity and speed of designing with a WYSIWYG like iWeb.
So are there a few big culprits as to why iWeb sites don't display in IE 6,7, or 8? I realize this is pretty much an Internet Explorer problem, but can I fix at least some of the content without doing a ton of hacking to my site?
I am already fixing one issue using Dreamweaver:
    iWeb: +<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>+
    instead of: +<xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8">+
...so I'm not afraid to publish with iWeb, then edit a few things in the HTML/CSS. Can anything be done? It's a fairly simple website: mantheipc.webege.com (ignore text content, needs a lot of revision).
    *Other info:*
    Free hosting via 000webhost.com
    iWeb '08 2.0.4
    OS X 10.5.7
    Dreamweaver CS5
    Uploading via FileZilla
Tested to work under Firefox, Chrome, and Safari (Mac+PC)
Tested and failed to load in IE 6,7,8 at http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/
Tested and failed to load in IE 6 on XP Laptop
Thanks a lot for your time,
    Dylan

Removing the first line of every HTML document permits the site to load in IE.
    <xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8">
To figure out why IE wouldn't display my site, I created a new blank page and added an image, a hyperlink, a text box, and a fancy CSS text box. I also set a background gradient and page color. The page wouldn't display in IE, so I started deleting HTML by hand with a text editor starting with the most likely culprits (in-line CSS, javascript, etc). I was down to an image, hyperlink, bgcolor, and center tags and the site still wouldn't load. Realizing these are the most basic html tags there are, the only thing left that could cause a problem was that first line.
While I realize this is not at all an ideal solution, it worked. Not only does the site load, but it looks about as good as it does in Firefox and Chrome. No transparency issues or anything! The first line isn't vital to site display, but it does cause the browser to 'guess' what type of encoding the page is in. All of my testing indicated this isn't an issue on my PC or Mac, but I need to try friends and family's PC's too.
    Tested good on:
IE8, Firefox, and Chrome in Windows 7
Firefox, Chrome, and Safari in MacOS Leopard
Thanks again to everyone who read and contributed!

  • Being hacked for a year. Need advice on viruses & malware

My ex-husband has been hacking my computers for about a year. I would like some advice on how to keep him off my computers. I can't keep him from hacking into AT&T's website, but I'd like to at least see if I can do something to get rid of him. A litle background. He is American but now lives in Bangalore, India. He is a brilliant man who lost his job and  had months to look for a job and learn how to cyber-stalk me to shreds. He also has a friend who designs websites and owns the server which housed my blog. His friend got things started.
My ex-husband, as a I said, is brilliant. He is also a sociopath. So, any indication from me to him that he's making me angry or upset in any way is tantamount to "begging for my life".  That's exactly what he wants. The only optioin I have is to deal with it on my own, as opposed to appealing to him to stop.
I regularly restore my computers (desktop, laptop, iPad, iPhone) to factory settings. I use iCloud for photos, calendar, address book, and music. Sharing is off. I'm sure my son's computer has stuff all over it. I no longer keep anything on my computers other than what's on iCloud. Any documents are created offline, saved to an external hard drive, and securley trashed afterward.
Here is a sampling of what he's done.
    1. He can hack through any password. A friend, the head of Virginia Tech's IT department, told me that he must have purchased a password decorder, but I'm not so sure.
    2. He can hack into any site. He regularly hacks into my iTuness account, AT&T, American Express, Comerica Bank, you name it. He used to change the passwords to everything at leave it at that, but things have gotten increasingly weird.
    3. Now he doesn't bother to change the password. He hacks into things, and makes changes. I use my AMEX card or bank account to pay bills online. He changes the payment to a bogus one, so they don't get paid. He turns off notifications, so I don't know. I had my TV & inernet service turned off due to this. Now I know when my bills are due, and make sure things are okay.
    4. He's phished me so I went to AT&T & American Express sites he created. He somehow was able to redirect me to a bogus career page for Restoration Hardware. I knew what I was supposed to see, so I used a friend's computer to get to the right page. He knew I was looking for a job there. He messed with my Flickr account, so they couldn't see my portfolio. I could see it, but a "regular" person would only see two weird photos.
    5. I believe he's managed to hack into my gmail account & me.com accounts. @me is in the Cloud. I use 2-step verification and G@@gle authenticator.
    6. I was working on my desktop, which logs out after 10 minutes. Ex-husband was angry with me at that moment (heard via my son). When I returned to log back in, I was locked out and had to restore my computer. My log in password was changed. I had just replied to an email sent to my @me account on that computer.
    7. I left a document on my laptop because I ddin't care if he saw it. I prepared my computer to be restored and wanted to email the document to myself. I couldn't becasue there were all these other things attached to it. I wish I'd taken a screen shot of it. But there was a zip file, a jpeg and several other things.
Can anyone offer me any help? Now that I know there was junk attached to a document, does that mean my external hard drive is currupted by documents I've stored there? My passwords are looooong. I have a "best practices" system that I use. But still he manages to break through. Thoughts?
    I use Mountain Lion 10.9.1

Thanks for replying. It's so nice to know someone is out there listening. I can't say I'm always immediately hacked. Things ebbed down for awhile and are now back up and running a bit. He have had a bad week at work. Or hates India. I just want to be left alone. Yet bad things are definitely being found on my computers. I hadn't thought of disconnecting everything from the Internet, but I have to have it turned on to install.
Question. If I'm resetting everything how can a keylogger stay onboard? I'm certain they were installed back when he had access to my computers (a desktop and laptop). I assumed these would disappear when I restored. Not true?
How can he download a keylogger over the Internet? I decided to restore after he hacked into Transunion's site. I didn't know what my password was. It wasn't written down. But he found a way on there. I'm sure I logged on from my laptop a month ago or so. Maybe he'd had it in his pocket, so to speak. But I wonder, since he's phished AMEX & AT&T, if he's become adept at hacking into their sites. ???  Way over my head.
Question 2: Today I was updating some Pages docs which I store on my USB memory stick. I keep the stick with me AT ALL TIMES. It's never in the house when I'm not there. Same with printed passwords - on a little crib sheet. I restored my laptop 2 days ago. So this was the first time I'd used the stick or any app (did install Firefox) since the restore. Suddenly there was a "restored files" in my trash. I checked inside the folder, still in the trash. There were lots of jpeg sort of colored squares. I didn't open anything, just threw over 100 things away securely. Is my USB stick infected? Clueless on this one. When I restored I didn't empty the "empty disk space".
Woe is me: When I reinstalled the operating system on my desktop today I was told some "additional" things were being downloaded. It's exhausting just trying to describe all this. Some things are perfectly normal. Others clearly aren't. I'm becoming more educated on the subject. But after a while I get confused. After all, it's a bit emotional.
I'm sure there are or were cameras and listening devices in my home. They were installed in our marital home before I moved out.  But my ex now lives in India. And I use my laptop all over the house when I reinstall. So I don't think cameras are it.
At first I thought he was breaking into my house to look at my printed passwords. You can break through a dead bolt - I looked it up on YouTube.  Easy step-by-step instructions for any future criminal! Who needs a real job these days? I should quit trying to do business online and take up burglary.
Final thought: Thank you so much for your ideas. I'd love to know about the keylogger situation. Meanwhile, it's well below freezing here. I'm freezing. I'm going to forget about this for the night, put 2 pairs of sweat pants on, my mittens, and pour myself a glass of wine. Truly, thank you so much.

  • Is my iMessage Compromised?

Hi, I am dealing with an issue that very perplexing.
Recently, I have come to find out that my iPhone 5s, not even a year old, has been sending ONE contact on my phone messages that are not sent from my iPhone (What I mean is that on their conversation with me, the text is there, but in mine it is not). Now, after doing a little research most individuals said to just change the password on my AppleID. However, here is where I run into a predicament. The current Email that is being used by iMessage is one with an "@icloud.com", and cannot remember the Email I used for it. I attempted to change it to an Email I regularly use, to no success. I have been reading about something called "spoofing" numbers, but don't feel that this is the correct issue I am facing.
For context on my phone, It is the Iphone 5s, NOT jail broken, has a pass code on it and have NOT downloaded any suspicious apps that could have caused this. To sum it up, the answers I need to know are...
         -Is my iMessage hacked?
-If I restore my Phone back to factory settings, can it make it so this "hacker" cannot simply regain control of my Email and continue sending messages through that account?
-Should I just buy a new phone?
-Will disabling iMessage on my Phone cause it to not send messages without my control?
Please, any answers at all would be very useful. Thank you for reading!

OK, so need to get straight what it is you are describing - you are indicating that the issue is only happening with one contact that you text to. You are not having this issue with other contacts that you text to correct?
Still not clear on what it is that is occurring with this one contact. They have text messages from you that you have not sent? Or you have sent them but they do not display on your side of the conversation?
As for the account signed onto the Messages app, to sign out the ID that is signed in, you do not need a password. Go to Settings>Messages>Send &Receive, click on the Apple ID, then click on Sign Out.
Your iCloud ID uses the same password as your Apple ID as it is tied to that Apple ID.
    Cheers,

  • Restore old iMessage chat contents after OS X reinstall?

Last night I had to do a wipe of my MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion. At the end of the installer I chose to migrate all my old apps/data/settings back onto the machine from a recent Time Machine backup. Everything transferred over correctly with the exception of all  my iMessage threads. When you open the Messages app, all the recently chatted with friends show up on the left hand sidebar, but when you click on one, the thread contents are blank. Is there any way to manually reimport all of the old iMessage chat contents into my currently installation?
I still have all of my old iMessage data on my Time Machine backup under the folder "~/Library/Messages" folder. I tried copying over the new version of this folder with the old version stored on the Time Machine backup, but the reimport didn't seem to take so I reverted back.
    Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

    HI,
I would have said that the ~/Library/Messages folder was the thing to copy back.
As you "owned" the original I would have thought there would be no Ownership  issues.
You would need the Archive folder (All Old Chats if you were saving them) and the Chat.db items as these hold the iMessages chats and the attachments if there are any.
    Two possible issues
Creating an iCloud ID with an older Apple ID and using a different name in Messages to register for iMessages
Although iCloud web site will let you login with either the originating Apple ID or the created @me.com name iMessages registers only one of these rather than the "whole Account".  (Obviously one can become an alias in Messages for the iMessages account)
The second is related as it is which ID is then used to Login in System Preferences > iCloud.
This then passes over to Mail, Contacts and Calendars and can be active for Messages.

  • Some words on a frequently used site link to third party ads but only on FF not IE; m discussing with site who asked what browser i use; i use avast free.

I recently started using FF. I use a local nz auction site trade me & noticed that some words (partic 'free' and 'women') showed up green on FF (not on IE) with a link to other sites one a dating site one a free gaming site I think. I asked TM to remove these links, however they've asked me to tell them which browser I use & which security software (use Avast free vsn). So obviously isn't them I conclude. (they are going to follow it up). I also use Vista. I went into my Trade Me listings initially and disguised the 'offending words' ie made 'women' 'w...n' instead - then the next word 'women' displayed the link, and so on thru the ad. When I reinstated the word 'women' again it showed up green on FF only, not IE. You can view these by going to Trade Me (NZ) and entering the auction Listing #: 419422108 or go to this link http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=419422108
And now I see it's showing up on another site as well - the word 'free'. Never had this prob before and is only on FF. Just checked and isn't doing it on Chrome either. Wondering what FF's take is on this?? Many thanks in advance.

From what you have described, I don't think you are ever going to pick that up as malware at all. But I did look at the site you mentioned in Google Chrome, and in IE9. First thought was maybe Chrome suppresses it, but that would be contrary to trying to convince you that their AdSense or IntelliTXT is "helping" you.
What I did find in Chrome was
"Google Chrome's connection attempt to ad-apac.doubleclick.net was rejected. The website may be down, or your network may not be properly configured."
Since I don't have ad blockers in Chrome or IE, that tells me that my hosts file is doing its job, you can draw you own conclusions. There is something similar displayed in IE, but I can't read what was there because the font-size was too big. for the space. In Firefox with "Adblock Plus" extension it is all wiped out. The hosts file works across the entire system but is directed at blocking malware sites more than advertising. "Adblock Plus" is very good at blocking ads and can do its blocking with more generic filters, and can block a lot of malware from coming in but it can't block at the system level that a hosts file can.
In IE although I can only see "It appea" because the font is too large and text does not wrap it does actually say "It appears you are connected to the Internet, but you might want to try to reconnect to the Internet."
I would certainly suggest installing "Adblock Plus" extension and the "Easylist (USA)" filter subscription -- links are in the links previously provided, and installing the hosts file as well also in the links.
It takes a bit more work to install and maintain a hosts file but the directions should be clear enough.

    Rob
You are not going to find a single tutorial on how to build
    an auction site
as they can be very complicated applications. However you
    will find
tutorials on the different elements that make it up. As has
    been mentioned
before the key to the design lies in the database structure.
I have designed one in Cold Fusion and you may get some more

At some point my phone stopped recognizing the text conversation I have with my dad as iMessage. There are other conversation threads (with him and my stepmom, for instance) that are STILL in iMessage (in blue). For some reason though, the one I have with just him is being sent as a text (in green). How do I switch him back to iMessage?
I use an iPhone 4S (8.1.2) and Macbook Air (Yosemite 10.10.1).
    Thanks!

Might that have happened because your dad (or you) are not currently in an area that iMessage works in (i.e., not on WiFi and not in a cellular area that supports iMessage)?
I don't believe you overtly can control what devices are placed in iMessage and what devices are not.  Again, there are two different sets of requirements to use iMessage at a specific time:
You must communicate to/from an Apple device (not an issue in your case); and
You and the other person must both be in either WiFi or an area where cellular coverage supports iMessage (possibly an issue for you).
