My data wheel will not stop spinning (i think i am being tapped)

ok every time i open up my native phone app the data wheel instantly starts spinning and will not stop. it does stop as soon as i close it.
i thought it might have something to do with google sync so i deleted my mail account but it did not help aat all
PLease help this is driving my crazy

Perhaps it's trying to access your voicemail. Is that working properly? Does the Phone app work?
Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

External hard drive will not stop spinning even after partition

Just been on to WD As i had a 320 passport that would not stop spinning ,
After contacting them i discovers all 5 are doing the same. Other brands too. They get hot, The 320 I did a full mac HD disc utility check, partitioned , All fine , but the Ext HD still keeps spinning, WD company said its a problem with the computer,
So i have done the same test and repair on permissions on the main internal mac drive.
So what’s Causing this ? WD do there own diagnostics, Only on windows.
I have read the other forum here on the matter but could not make any sence of it,

Perhaps some application is using the hard drives... check "Activity Monitor" in Applications>Utilities and see if you can figure out what might be doing it.
Some ideas are any virus scanning program, any hard disk monitoring program, and spotlight. You could try going to Spotlight Preferences (in System Preferences) and adding your hard drives to the Privacy tab.

Cannot start ipad..spinning wheel will not stop and screen is black

Try rebooting the iPad by pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously until the screen goes blank and you see the apple logo. It should take about 10-15 seconds to reboot.

Wheel next to faces will not stop spinning

So iPhoto was merrily plugging along when, the other day, I noticed that the update wheel next to faces began to spin...and spin...and spin. I quit iPhoto and, much to my chagrin, the wheel returned.
The wheel continues to persist, even after I have wiped out all my faces. There's an empty corkboard and yet the wheel continues to spin. It did the initial scan fine, yet persists with the updating wheel.
Very frustrating! I think other people have mentioned the problem to some degree, but I'm posting my experience (and unsuccessful fix attempts)
Any advice???
I have attempted the following "fixes":
Trashed the two faces db files and allow faces to rebuild.
Trashed the iphoto plist preferences files
Rebuilt the entire iphoto library from automatic backup.
Repaired disk permissions.

well looking at this thread (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2123582&start=275&tstart=0) i could solve the problem, but partially.
what i did:
1- got the iPhoto library rid of movies by exporting them to another folder.
2- reindexed iPhoto library with iPhoto Library Manager.
it worked right away.
but after finding a lot of photos to have the faces on it confirmed, iPhoto quit suggesting faces - although there are still a great lot of photos yet to have their faces confirmed.

I been having ploblems with Photoshop generating actions where the wheel will not stop generating

I need help in why only on Mac photoshop will get stuck generating an action and be force to force quit and restart the mac and loose all unsaved work!
This issue only happens with Mac, I have Creative suite 3 on my PC and works great but my Creative suite 4 and now the trial Photoshop CS5 Extended has the same problem.
Example:
1-If I Create a Text and make duplicate layers and select both layers then choose the 3D tool, "New Volume From Layers" the Generating wheel will get stuck rotating generating and not complete the funtion forcing me to force Quit the Mac and loosing all unsaved work.
2- If I try to edit, scale, etc the same happens with the generating wheel getting stuck! This is fustrating and Only happens with Photoshop and not Illustrator, Flash..... on the same Mac. This problem is happening to me and my student friends at Class. Thank God I have my PC and CS3 allowing me to complete assignment but CS3 doesn't have the 3D tool and now is Hell since CS4 and the trial SC5 are on my Mac!!!!!! HELPPPPPPPP Please......

I need the wheel to stop spinning and get back to being able to do my work. With all of my previous data, because I did not "save" most of the data.

We have all made that mistake....
It sounds as though you are going to have to Force Quit Excel, and anything you haven't saved will have to be redone.
You might want to check to make sure that you have Auto Recover checked, and also have it set for the number of minutes you feel comfortable with. Under Excel>Preferences>Save

I have a Mac Air. It said my start up disk was almost full and to delete files. I did but am not sure of what all I should delete. Then the color wheel wouldn't stop spinning so I just closed it. Now it won't open up at all. What can I do?

Rebuilding aMacBook 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, hard drive failure so rebuilding system. Aircard will not stop self-assigning IP address. Any ideas how to resolve successfully?

Had hard drive failure on MacBook 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo, so had to rebuild the OS on new drive. Was on Lion 10.7.5 prior to failure, but had to reinstall Snow Leopard 10.6.3 since that was most recent OS on media I had. After finally getting ethernet connection to router working, was able to get to internet and download / upgrade to 10.6.8. I assume I can probably buy the upgrade to Mountain Lion 10.8 from there.
Problem is this, Airport will not stop self-assigning IP address for my wireless connection, and unless I can get wireless back on this laptop, doesn't make a lot of sense to continue the rebuild and reinstall of all the software that was on it prior to HD failure. Only way to my home network and router is ethernet now. Everything else on my network (Apple MacBook Pro laptops, iPhones, desktops, and non-Apple printers and laptops) is hooking up to router wirelessly fine.
Any ideas how to resolve successfully so that the airport will stop self-assigning and allow the router to assign the IP address?

I know exactly what you mean. I got that as well. On a few of them, when I opened the websites using the generic test screen icons and then closed them, they changed back to the way that they should look. For the ones that did not change, I recreated the home screen shortcuts and deleted the generic looking ones - the test screen icons.
And don't get me started on iBooks.
For the very limited use that I make of the iBooks app, i haven't noticed any problems, but I rarely use the app. I don't read books on the iPad other than a few user guides and if they are pdf guides, they reside in more reliable and feature rich pdf apps on my iOS device.
I wish that I had the fix for the spinning activity icon, but everything that I try, is temporary at best. IMO, this is the buggiest iOS update that I have seen, and I have been using iOS devices since iOS 3 on my first iPad. I realize that there are plenty of people that are not experiencing issues, but I have seen a number of weird things that I wish I could fix. None of my problems are major, but they are annoying.

Date Book will not sync

My device is a Treo 650. I can sync the address book, to do, and memos, but the date book will not sync. The HotSync program hangs. Using Palm Desktop by Access 6.2.2 with Win XP Pro SP 3. Oddly enough, this only happens on my home computer, with the sync working fine on my office computer. Any suggestions?
