My daughter gave me her old ipod nano is there a way where i can transfer thie to my name

My daughter gave me her old ipod is there a way i coild change the name to me?

Do you mean change the name of the iPod?
Renaming an iPod, iPhone, iPad or Mac
Or do you mean registering the device to you?
Get the serial number off the back. Log in to http://supportprofile.apple.com, click Add product and enter the serial number. If it says it is registered to another ID have your daughter sign in at the above webpage and remove it.

My daughter gave me her old ipod. I have downloaded itunes to my window 7 computer. When I try to sync the ipod by connecting it to my computer the ipod does not show up in the itunes drop down menu. Is thid because the ipod was named by my daughter? Does she need to deauthorize it from her Mac computer?

I'm not sure what you mean by "drop-down window", but your daughter doesn't need to do anything for you to claim and use her iPod. If you have iTunes 11, the iPod should appear as a button in the upper-right of the iTunes window, e.g.:
If you have an earlier version of iTunes, you may need to update, but normally the iPod would appear in the sidebar under the "Devices" header.  If it does not appear in either place, this support article may help:

Don't try to change the songs. Connect the iPod, click on the name of it, go to the Summary page and Restore it as a new device.

You will need to Restore it as a New Device...
    Restore...
1: Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
3: If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try using the steps in this article to force the device into recovery mode.

  • My daughter gave me her old iPhone 3G. I started loading my info in before hitting the "reset" option.  It is now trying to sync her address book to mine on the old phone.  The reminder screen gives no options for cancel or delete.  Please advise.

My daughter gave me her old iPhone 3G.  I started loading my own info before doing a complete "Reset".  My iMac at home now give me a message that it is time to Sync 432 Contacts.  They happen to be my daughters contacts. The window has no Cancel or Delete option.  How do I get rid of or stop the Sync other than let it go and then start deleting them?  Help!  Ron

or... put your photos in "My Pictures" in My Documents, and viola, itunes syncs it to the iphone. only one sentence needed =/

  • My daughter has accidentally deleted all videos from her ipod nano - is there a way of retreiving them?

my daughter has accidentally deleted all her videos on her ipod nano - is there any way of retreiving them?

If your daughter owns a 5G Nano (the one with the camera built-in) and she deleted her recorded videos, I'm afraid you are out of luck. There is a small chance that some expensive data recovery solutions can recover some of that, but again the chances are slim.

It's not designed to work like this. When you sync, the iPod stores some information that basically says 'this iPod belongs to computer xyz'. Apple did this to prevent copyright issues (syncing someone else's music).
If you really want to do this, you'll have to at least tie both iTunes installations to the same account. Maybe have them sync with each other.

If you mean the iMac does not have an internal optical drive capable of reading DVDs, the only option requires another Mac with a DVD-capable drive and FireWire ports. Your iMac G3 will also require FireWire ports. Not all G3 iMacs have Firewire. FW started with the Summer 2000 models with 400mHz and faster processors.
With FireWire, you can use FireWire Target Disk mode to install from a retail OS install DVD in another Mac. If you supplemental info info tells us if you have another Mac with a DVD reader and the FW ports, we can walk you through the process.
If the iMac has a tray-loading drive, I'd forget it. They are very limited not only in the OS max (10.3.9) but also in RAM capability. Starting with the slot-loading iMac G3s, the max RAM increased to 1 GB (2 X 512MB modlules). Tiger likes 1GB RAM.
Understand that pre-Intel Macs are getting harder to use. Even with 10.4.11, your choice of browsers is limited (TenFourFox is the most viable option) and the G3s  rudimentary video hardware means web browsing will be choppy at best.
If you are in the USA, you can try calling the Apple Store (1-800-MY-APPLE) for an OS disk. As recently as Jan 20, someone posted here that they were able to buy Tiger by calling. It was not clear whether the disks were replacement system install/restore disks or full retail install, but it's a free call.
When you do "About this Mac" to check teh OS verion, also look at the processor speed and tell us what that says. That can help with recommendations for an upgrade path.

Okay so this is what can be done for you....
First go to itunes then Edit --> Preference --> Advanced --> and check off copy music to itunes music folder when adding songs to library.
Now connect the ipod to the computer (if this a new computer and the ipod has never been connected to it, you'll get a box asking you to link the libraries, Say NO)
In itunes select file then 'add folder to library' and highlight the ipod in My Computer. Then select ok. The music should start updating into itunes.
When the update is complete, remember to go back into the preference window and uncheck 'copy music to itunes music folder when adding songs to library'

  • Is it safe for my daughter to lend her old iPod to a friend?

My daughter wants to lend her older ipod to a friend for the summer. Is this safe? What if he uses it unwisely? Will it come back to haunt my daughter?

Only safe way OS to do a omplete erase first...you have to remove all trace to her first.  Go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings

  • I found someone's Ipod Nano, is there any way to get it back to them?

As the title says, I found someone's ipod nano, and I was wondering if there was any way to contact them? There was no personal information on the ipod nano, only songs. I noticed that it has a serial number however, so is it possible to track down the person by using the serial number?

Sorry for the necro. I forgot to comment back here, but I managed to find the original owner (a few weeks after the first post) by posting a flyer close to where I found it: "Did you lose an ipod nano? If so, please contact me and tell me what music/playlists were in it." They hadn't registered their product but luckily they saw the poster and it's now safe and sound with its owner. That is, if he hasn't lost it again haha.

  • Is there a way where I can get my old version of a particular app back?

Alright, so, I own this iTouch and it's the 2nd generation one, I know it's old, but I don't wanna upgrade atm cuz i'm happy with the one I currently have. I plugged in my iTouch last night and my applications started updating itself in iTunes and the Facebook application updated itself to the newer version, but then it won't sync into my iTouch cause it says that it's not compatible with my iPod. So, is there ANY possible way that I can retrieve my old version of Facebook application back?

Only if have a previous version of the app like part of a computer backup that included youriTunes library. Sorry.
