My daughter had list her iPod 4. She thinks its in house but not sure, it's turned off! Can the iPods wiped of her details she hasn't seen it for a week

She basically hasn't seen it since last Monday so over a week ago that she can remember. She's pretty sure it's in house but iv downloaded the find my phone app ands it's offline! I just wounderd if atall it's been lost outside the house can it b wiped so the app doesn't work? Or will it always b hers? I brought it new and it's had only her details on

If it is off it can be found via FIndMyiPhone. It can only be wiped if it is connected to the internet and you previously turned on FIndMyiPod
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have to iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it.
- Apple will do nothing

I have tried to reset and restart my iPod touch but it remains stuck at the apple logo and turns off. The iPod is not responsive when i connect it to my computer or wall charger.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Hello, My  i Mac is  from 2008, the unit at times doesn't start up.(mouse lights then off with no screen) I ran Mackeeper thinking its a  virus, but not. My unit is plugged into a volt regulator  its a US unit 110v and here in philippines 220 V, any ideas

Hello, My I Mac is a 2008 unit. Quite offen it will not power on, mouse lights then it goes off with no screen even if i press control/command rp keys.
Some other information the unit is from USA, a 110V and now in Philippines which is 220V I have it on a 110 voltage regulator.(can i plug in to 220 v directly?) I also ran MacKeeper thinking it could be a virus, but its not, i notice if i leave unit on without shut down, the problem occurs less, thinking its a battery problem but I'm not sure.
Here in Philippines we have no Mac stores and service is not like  in the USA. Any ideas of what wrong?

MacKeeper is highly invasive malware that can de-stablize your operating system. It is also unethically marketed and a rip-off.

It sounds like a faulty power unit. You need to get it professionally checked.

  • Grandson's ipod touch plays the music if the earphones are plugged in but not if it is unplugged and on the ipod docking station nor do the external speakers work.  What is wrong?

I won an ipod touch and gave it to my grandson for Xmas but sometimes the external speakers do not emit music but the music can be heard with the earplugs in.  It also will not play on the docking station speakers.  What is wrong.  Of course Apple is sayin there is no warranty.

Try to reset the iPod by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again and let it start up. You will not lose any data doing a reset.
If this does not help, set it up as new device again, explained in this article: How to back up your data and set up as a new device

  • My iTunes has about 3000 tracks but not all of it will sync onto my iPod

i recently purchased an 80GB iPod shuffle which can also play videos and movies. i bought it recently, but i'm haveing a hard time getting used to iTunes and all this apple, mac business.
i have windows XP professional, i made sure i put all the music i had on my pc and put it onto my iTunes library, now i have a lot more music to put onto my ipod from cds etc but i can't even get all my music from my itunes to download onto my iPod first!
they're all in mp3 format, and when i go to "sync music" instead of syncing all of my 3000 tracks its only syncing like 1700 or so!
also, if i already have music on my ipod, but i just want to add say an extra one or two songs onto my ipod, i tried just adding those tracks, but then all my older songs already on the ipod god deleted!
does that mean i have to download all my music from the itunes ALL OVER AGAIN?
if so, i don't think i like this ipod / itunes business, i may even have to return it. this is just ridiculous, i never had this problem with my smaller mp3 players. the whole reason i bought the iPod was because it can store alot of music, 80gb and it only cost me around £140. its new, not second hand or anything.
    help!

Hello, and Welcome to Apple Discussions,
first of all, I don't think you have a shuffle, as they come up to 4 GB.
Syncing is a concept that some users have a hard time adjusting to - it means synchronizing the content of the iPod to your PC.
When you tell iPod to sync only two songs, it does exactly that; you may want to set up playlists in iTunes that contain what you want on your iPod and sync those automatically.
Another option would be to Manually Manage your iPod, in which case you can just drag and drop songs on it like you would with any other MP3 Player, however, you lose the convenience of syncing.
Hope this solves your problem, cheers.

  • IOS 8 lockscreen keyboard does not let me input characters with accent marks. My password has an accent mark. I can't restore the device without unlocking it and turning off find my iPod. What can I even do here?

I do have a third party keyboard installed (fleksy), and I removed english and emoji from the keyboards list in settings before rebooting the ipod. When it booted up, it asked for my device password with the default keyboard, but I can't type any letters with accent marks, so I can't enter the password. I figured I could fix this by restoring a backup and changing my password, but I can't restore a backup without turning off Find My iPod - which of course requires me to unlock the device with the device password, which I can't do. Am I stuck here? Is there anything at all that I can do?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    - Reset the iPOd. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

So you also rebooted your router correct?  Does the iPod still connect okay to other networks?

Hmm.. Thank you for the response.
Have you tried using the iPod with another user account or computer, to help narrow down whether the problem lies with the computer, account, or the iPod itself?
Maybe try reformatting it, using the tools provided by Windows. Instructions on how to reformat your iPod can be found in this article.

Cured the problem! Reinstalled an earlier version of itunes from oldapps.com (version 10) now everything works as it should. I would suggest that if you are experiencing these problems that you do the same. I must say that it is a brave business decision on behalf of apple to effectively lock out all windows 7 users from their products and sales channels and I can only wish them luck in this very shortsighted policy.

  • WHen I first installed iOS 6 the App Store crashes...and now having iOS 6 for 2 weeks now, all my apps are buggy and now are crashing! Safari and built in apps are becoming slow and crash. I hate how apple leaves iPod touch 4g and iPhone 4 in the dark.

I hate how apple leaves iPod touch 4g and iPhone 4 in the dark and basically force us to upgrade to newer devices. Apple could of done better with the update and needs to resolve these issues.

If you've had it for less than a year, then it's still under warranty.  Take it to an Apple store or an authorized service facility.  See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1434

  • Is there any way to turn off "Find my iPod" without unlocking the iPod?

My cousin forgot her password to her iPod and she tried to restore the iPod but it said that it couldn't be restored because "Find my iPod" was on. Is there any way that you can turn off "Find my iPod" without unlocking her iPod.

    Hello, Pete.
Here is an article I would recommend going through when an iPod is not recognized by iTunes or the computer.
iPod not recognized in My Computer and in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1369
Usually the resolution is updating the Apple Mobile Device Driver.  See the section labeled Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed > For Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8 > Update the Apple Mobile Device Driver.
