My daughter's iPod won't connect to internet.

Sorry I know many people have probably asked this, but I still don't get it!  I really don't know what to put in the VPN section and it is very confusing.  I know that the pssword we're entering is correct because we've entered it so many times now, I know it by heart!  Also,  it won't connect to the open network.  We have tried the whole turn off wifi, turn off iPod and any others we could find, but we still can't connect.  Please help!  I have schoolwork so she can't use the computer to play games.  It makes me feel bad because she just got it for Christmas and this just happened out of the blue.  She said she turned it on one day and it just wouldn't connect to the internet.  The day before, she said, all she did was play a game, that doesn't need wifi, and has had since when she first got it.  This is aggrivating!

  • Brand new ipod won't connect to internet, shows wifi connected

I set up a virtual router plus program on my computer to turn our wired connection into a wifi hotspot so my daughter could use her ipod in the app store but it won't connect to the internet at all. Wifi signal is on, in settings it says its connected, but when attempts at loading anything occur, nothing loads. Iphone works on the ad hoc network, won't be able to get to a wifi spot for her to surf around with for a while

  • Ipod won't connect to internet but says its on wifi

Okay so I gave up my iPod for lent and of course as soon as I get it, it has problems. My iPod says it's connected to the network but any and every time I use Facebook or google or really anything with internet and it won't connect. It says its not connected to the internet. I've tried factoryr restoring and it wont work . Yeah I just checked and it said the internet connection appears to be offline. Help?!

    - Try powering off and then back on the router
    - Try resetting your iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
-Try resetting network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings.

  • IPod won't connect to internet, even with a working network connection.

My iPod's connected to my Sky network - which has no problems connecting my laptop, and other computers in my house, to the inernet - but it won't connect to the internet when I try to use any of my apps. I've tried Skype, Facebook and Youtube - it simply tells me I have no internet connectinon, contrary to my network settings which confirm that I'm connected to my Sky router.
I've tried resetting my iPod and my network settings, but still no luck.
    Any advice?

Thank you to the two that replied...I did all that you mentioned in your post previously, I just didn't mention it. I finally had to break down and call Apple Care, and pay $$ to get help. Basically, they figured that Leopard froze (I thought that was a Windows issue?!), and when it rebooted, it kicked all the preferences in my System Configuration folder out, and no longer "remembered" them. So they had me go into Mac HD>Library>Preferences>System Configuration, and move that whole folder to my desktop, thereby taking it out of the Library. When I rebooted, it automatically, "found" a connection, and re-remembered the preferences in that System Configuration folder...I just deleted the old one. She said that was very rare, and kind of extreme to have to do.
But I am back up. Thanks for your help!

  • New 4th gen ipod won't connect to internet

My sister just bought a new 4th gen ipod touch today. Everything works fine with it except for the internet. Now I own a 2nd gen ipod touch and my internet connection works just fine. Why doesn't hers work? I've tried turning the wifi on and off, and turning the airplane mode on and off as well. Our wifi only works through our computer modem. Is the ipod just not picking up the modem's signal or is something wrong with her ipod?

    - Does the SSID of your router show up in the list of networks available on the 4G iPod?
    - Have you tried resetting th 4G iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - If SSID still  does not show up on the 4G but does show on and the 2G iPod then I would first restore the iPod from backup.  If still problems then restore the iPd to factory defaults.new iPOd
    - If still not SSID then you likely have a defective iPOd and should make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store or you could call AppleCare.

  • IPod won't connect more than once

When I plug my iPod into my computer, my iTunes registers and connects and syncs. Perfectly fine. But I want to change some settings on my iPod, such as the album artwork and playlists, and whenever I try to sync it again, my iPod won't connect and my iTunes can't find it, even though its plugged in.
    Help?

Typically when only one device can connect to the AirPort base station, it may be because it is not properly configured as a NAT router ... which is its default configuration.
One option is to perform a "factory default" reset on the AirPort, and then, try connecting one or more devices to verify that they now all get network/Internet access. Once verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure it per your networking requirements.

  • How to enable a disabled iPod that won't connect to internet

trying to enable my disabled 5th generation iPod touch. I have tried connecting to iTunes on the computer, which I couldn't get it to do anything. I then tried using the "Find my iPhone" website and erased the iPod. However, I got a message that says "This iPod will be erased when it connects to the internet". How do I connect a disabled/locked iPod to the internet/wifi while it is waiting to be erased because it won't connect to internet/wifi?

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • Ipod Touch Won't Connect to Internet Since Using Airport Home Network

I searched the site, but can't find anything that helps (or that I can really understand). I previously had no problems with my Ipod Touch using my home internet via wi-fi. Ever since I upgraded to the newest airport, my ipod won't connect, and I've tried just about everything, but nothing works.
I also have an old PC Laptop that used to connect, but it won't connect to the internet either since I got the new airport.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

3rd gen ipod won't connect to itunes with firewire. USB connects rarely but drains battery quickly. I've rebooted the ipod and computer and updated itunes. No effect. Any remedies besides buying a new ipod.

Question 2 is still unanswered. Ideas?

  • 10 gig iPod won't connect.....

    Greetings
I've changed the original battery from the 1st gen 10 gig scroll wheel, but now the iPod won't connect.
It has lost its charging indicator, but feels warm to the touch. I can still play all the music that is on there, but can't see it via iTunes or finder.
I can see the ipod via the firewire, i.e. about this mac, more info, firewire, shows that the iPod is connected, but has it listed as version 0.0.
I've tried this http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1363 but no joy.
Any ideas from the brains trust?
    Cheers

Make sure you have tried a different FireWire port, and shutdown (power off) and restart your computer if you have not done so since having this issue.
You can try a different FireWire cable. If this is a 1st gen iPod, it uses a regular FireWire (400) cable.
Since the iPod is seen (somewhat), does the iPod show up in Disk Utility? If so, use Disk Utility to reformat (erase) the iPod's hard drive in the Erase tab. Make sure the iPod's hard drive (not the volume indented under the sidebar) is selected in the sidebar. Select +Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as the format type. If that procedure succeeds, run iTunes again and if it is seen now, use the Restore button to install and initialize the iPod's software.
It is possible that when you opened the iPod to replace the battery, you inadvertently disconnected the hard drive. Therefore, the iPod is "seen" by the system, but the hard drive is not. I have also read some reports that if the replacement battery is just a tad too thick, it puts pressure on the hard drive and causes the platter not to spin. So you may want to open it up again, check the hard drive connection, and try it with the back side off.
