My daughters bluetooth keyboard won't work with voiceover since upgrading to iOS 8.1 - how can i fix this?

My daughter has a Greatshield bluetooth keyboard which she has been using successfully in school with her iPad mini. she is blind and uses voiceover to navigate and to have what she has typed read back to her.
Since updating to iOS 8.1 the keyboard no longer works when voiceover is on but does when voiceover if off. My daughter is not able to use it without voiceover.
Any suggestions?

Was in the Apple Stor this morning in Indianapolis and picked up a Bluetooth keyboard to use with my iPad mini 2. Sadly neither I nor staff could get it to work with voiceover working. The staff, both sales and tech, appeared as shocked as I was. I was surprised that over 6 months Apple had not fixed this issue. Now I am wasting my time trying to back up reports of this problem on Apple's website. I know Apple over the last 10 years had given a lot of us so many advancements, but maybe that's changing? All I know is that as a busy professional, Apple has cost me about 4 hours of lost productivity today. I wish I could charge them for it!

I think you solved my problem! Upon following your advice, I first got a message that I had not allowed a connection to the Tax dept computers, which would prevent the file I need to fill out from being e-filed. I proceeded to then open the file at the top of which was a security banner at which I chose the site as safe. I then filled in the first line of the form which autofilled other lines telling me I was connected with the tax site. In a few days when I have the data I need, I will actually attempt to file the return. If there is a problem, I will send another message. Thanks so much for your assistance!

Adobe Reader won't install in any of the website-given ways. How can I fix this?

I've been trying to install Adobe Reader 11.0 on my Windows 8 computer for about an hour now. When I download the regular installer, the first thing my PC does is give a security warning. Strange already, but the website mentioned this could happen, so I said "download anyway". Then when I execute the installler file, I get a small error window titled "Host" which tells me "the certificate could not be verified". The only thing I can do is press "OK", which makes it go away, but the installer still does nothing, of course.
So I tried the other "direct" download which is given as a possible solution. The AdbeRdr11000 file I get from that downloads without any security issues.
When I execute it, it asks me if I give this installer permission to run. I say "yes", the window dissapears and then nothing happens. At all. I can wait all I want, it's like I never clicked anything to begin with.
So how can I fix this. I really feel like downloading such a widespread product shouldn't be so difficult.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check the setting in System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > mouse options.. button > check scrolling.
If you have an older mouse with the trackball, it might just need cleaning. Turn the mouse over and rub the trackball vigorously on paper or microfiber cloth.

Bluetooth calls no longer work in car since upgrading to ios 8

upgraded my 5S to iOS 8 on Sep 19 and now cannot make or receive calls in my car or my bluetooth headset. I have reset my phone, deleted bluetooth connection and repaired, updated my car's software and all to no avail. I'm sure Apple will blame my car (2014 bmw x6m) but my Plantronics bluetooth headset doesn't connect either. Please update ASAP, this is crazy and last straw I think. I hated but followed along when they changed the charging ports to lightning but I can't take this anymore. I live where its illegal to be on the phone in my car so I need this and I'm tired of my Android friends laughing at me and never mentioning these type of connection/compatibility issues.

This occurs if you are sharing the same Apple ID for imessages.
If you are receiving imessages intended for other devices you can fix this by going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and do one of the following:
Uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on both devices if they are iPhones; or
On one of the devices go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the Apple ID, sign out, then sign in with a different Apple ID. Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for the iTunes & App store for purchasing if you wish; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iMessage, FaceTime, iCloud and other services.
To prevent merging of your calendars and contacts when syncing calendars and contacts if you are using the same Apple ID for the iCloud account, be sure to set up separate iCloud accounts on each phone with separated IDs. My iPhone 5 reception gets cut randomly and gets replaced with NO SIM in the reception area. How can I fix this?

So, I was running today with my iPhone in my pocket when later I noticed that I had no reception from it. On the top left corner where the "bars" of connection is supposed to be, a NO SIM icon appeared. I never had this happen before. So, I restarted my phone (hold down top and bottom buttons to force manul restart) and the reception bars appeared and things seemed to be normal. Then in about 2 hours later, when I was calling someone and mid discussion, the NO SIM icon appeared and my call was cut off. It was the same problem as before. I had to restart my phone again. There was nothing wrong about the recpetion in the area, I had LTE on, so nothing should be wrong with that part. Something possibly happened when I was running with my phone, but now, I dont know how to fix the NO SIM problem and how to get my phone going back to normal without restarting it so many times. Go to a phone store for your cell provider and ask them to replace your sim if that is not pos for you you can try cleaning the contact patches for your sim
Turn the phone off ( not just standby) use the tool that came with your phone in the pin hole in the sim tray on the side of your phone. With a pencil eraser gently buff the contact patches on the sim replace and restart

The Mid 2009 is the model 5,2. These have the two button trackpad which is limited to the two finger gestures. You need the model 5,1, 6,1 or 7,1 with the buttonless glass muti-touch trackpad for the four finger gestures.

I just installed Firefox 5. Since installing the upgrade I have been having problems with "freezing" and occasional crashes. Firefox 5 works sometimes, but freezes sporadically. After the crash Firefox 5 locked up during the "file a crash report" procedure. I have performed all of the suggestions in the trouble shooting instructions (clear history, disable plugins etc.)

I have spent hours since Firefox 5 came out trying to understand all the FireFox freeze/crashes on my XP machine. As a very busy person I don't mind spending time to tweak my machine, do all the updates etc (which I do faithfully). I do mind spending the equivalent of a full workday trying to get Firefox 5 to work like Firefox 4 did for me (and 3 before it). Sadly, the reason I left Internet Explorer back then was to avoid what I'm experiencing now. So, as much as I love Firefox, I'm just going to have to use IE, which doesn't crash at all for me. So when FF5 is cleaned up can you just let us know? Please tell me it will be soon.

on the pad, in settings, messages, turn it off. alternately, identify the pad, in that same setting, with a different incoming 'receive at ' address, and delete the one that is already there, (that is most likely the same as what you have set on your phone) I have a different receive at address on different devices for that same reason.

I have a Matshita DVD-R UJ-898 which worked fine (from the Finder and from Toast 8) until I used an external Matshita drive (can't remember the model).
Now the finder gives this error:
“Untitled DVD” can’t be burned because the disc is read-only and can’t be modified (error code 0x80020042).

Have you tried using a different brand of optical disk? (You don't say whether you are doing CDs or DVDs.) Some are better than others.
