My delete key on my macbook isn't responding.

Today I was typing when all of a sudden my delete key on my macbook stop responding, I try resetting still no luck.
Any ideas what can be the problem?

Ok, so after being on hold for 20 minutes with the Apple Tech support line got me nowhere!!! They told me if I wanted them to help me, I would have to pay a 49.99 fee first! That was a definite NO!
I trashed it and reinstalled it- DID NOT WORK!
I searched and searched online for solutions and here is what I ran across and it actually worked (I lost no pictures and was able to retrieve everything like it never happened):
1. I went to my desktop screen and held down BOTH the option/ alt button and the command button (do not release buttons)
2. Open your iPhoto app and a box should pop up with the option to rebuild library.
3. I personally selected 'rebuild thumbnails small', 'recover orphaned photos', and 'rebuild iPhoto Library database from automatic backup'
4. Hit rebuild and let it run its course
5.  When it's done you should be able to retrieve your photos.

  • I need a new Delete key for my MacBook Pro

My daughter ripped my delete key off my MacBook Pro and I need a new one. Anyone know where to get one from and how much they would be? Thanks!

Do a Google search or call an Apple store or an AASP.  Ask them about the cost.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Macbook isn't responding

Hi, I have a 1.5 years old macbook pro.
A few days ago I plugged an iPhone5 USB charger into the USB port, and immediately got an error message followed by a complete system shutdown.
now the Mac is completely dead, and is not even responding to the Mac charger.
both devices (Mac and iPhone) are completely original!
    Ideas?
    thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
It's possible the key is bad. You can go to System Preferences>International>Input Menu and check "Keyboard Viewer" and "Show input menu in menu bar". This will install a little flag in the menu bar. You can click on it and on "show keyboard viewer" and it will highlight the keys as you type. If a key doesn't highlight, it likely doesn't work any more. I think you need to replace the entire keyboard, but you can do it yourself and it is not difficult. You should be able to get a replacement from Apple.
    Good luck!

You have 14 days to exchange it no questions asked.

It's a new machine - and the Thunderbolt Display is meant to work with it. You need to just make an appointment at your local Apple Store and have them fix whatever is wrong.
If you like, you could always try a SMC reset and a PRAM/NVRAM reset to see if either of those will get your keyboard back in working order...

  • I just bought a macbook pro and I want to know how to restore pictures that were backed up on iCloud but then deleted from my phone. Isn't that the point of the backup so I can delete and make more space. Please help!

I just bought a macbook pro and I want to know how to restore pictures that were backed up on iCloud but then deleted from my phone. Isn't that the point of the backup so I can delete and make more space. Please help!

Log into the iCloud on your MacBook Pro and enable Photo Stream:
Then launch iPhoto and set iPhoto's Photo Stream preferences to the following:
Then check the Photo Stream section of iPhoto:
This is to confirm that the photos are still in Photo Stream. If they are they will be imported into the library.
NOTE: not all photos in an iPhone will be in the Photo Stream. PS only keeps photos in it for 30 days.
If you have the missing photos in your library put them in an album.  Connect your iPhone to the Mac and open iTunes.  In iTunes you can select that album in the library and sync the photos to your iPhone to get them back on the iPhone.

  • I have a MacBook Pro 15" 2007 which sometimes goes berserk writing the letter 'h', and makes a fast tapping sound when not in a doc. It stops when I hit the delete key. Also can't use the letter 'h' in a word processor.

I have a MacBook Pro 15" 2007 which sometimes goes berserk writing the letter 'h' in a word processor. It stops when I hit the delete key for a while. Also can't use the letter 'h' in a word processor. The computer makes a fast tapping sound when not in a doc, in any application or in the finder or when a application is running. Sometimes when this is happening I cannot control the cursor. I have to hit the 'delete' key to proceed. Does anyone know anything of this?

  • Delete key occasionally gets stuck on macbook

I purchased a Macbook Air about 1 month ago, and I have had trouble with the delete key and other keys occassionally getting stuck. For example, if I hit the delete key, then every so often it is like the delete key is being pressed and held and everything starts deleting in front of my eyes.  Happened to my mail messages and happened to word documents.  The first few times I did not pay attention.  Anyway, now it is becoming more often and I have to hit the Esc key to disrupt it and then hit Ctrl-Z to undo the deletes.  It is frustrating.  I suspect there is a hardware problem since it is a brand new Macbook Air.  I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this problem.
    Thanks,
    Tim

i had that problem to with my 2012 MacBook Air and finally i found a solution:
first, grab smething thin enough to fit under te key you want to fix.
    second, shut down your computer.
third, take the object you found and slide it under a corner of the key you want to fix and wiggle it up and down.
fourth, repeat step 3 for each corner.
fifth, attenp to carefully take they key out, if you need to repeat step three and four or use a little more force.
sixth, if removed or out of its orininal place, look for any gunk and try these solutions:
    1. remove key and but it into a small bowl, and put a couple dabs of dish soap on the key and wait for it to completely dry, and snap it back on.
2.take a can of compressed air and blow key and key circut (or the part on the computer) but dont put it too close otherwise that might damage your computer.

  • BUG? JDev 10.1.3.1.0 on MacBook Pro - problem using space and delete keys

Is anyone using JDev 10.1.3.1.0 production release on a Macbook Pro? I am experiencing problems using the delete and space keys. The delete key no longer seems to work at all when using any of the key bindings including Default MacOS X. Using the spacebar also seems to have a conflict with the code completion feature. I am finding that the code completion always pops up when the space bar is used and no space is inserted with the editor. The space bar only works when used in conjuction with the shift key. Can anyone verify if they are able to use these keys in JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 on a Macbook Pro?
    Thanks,
    Richard

This was from the dmg file.
I found that in Preferences | Accelerators, Completion Insight lists 'Space' as an accelerator, right after 'CommandAIC'. Removing that fixed the problem, but I still can't fix the Delete issue.
The Delete action is assigned to the 'Delete' key, which is recognizes as the key combination fn-Delete. I tried to assign the Delete Previous Char to just the delete key, but pressing the Delete key while in the New Accelerator field is not recognized - it just pretends as if I had not pressed a key.
I'm looking at the the file:
    jdevhome/system/oracle.jdeveloper.10.1.3.39.84/Default_macosx.kdf
trying to find entries for Delete and they are not in there - is there some other place I should be looking?
    Thanks,
