How do i get this get printer to connect my hotspot on my iphone, so i can use it in my truck.

If you are just trying to print from your iPhone you can connect your printer to your iPhone using what is called an ad-hoc connection. To do this you must have an iPhone 3GS, 4, or 4S with version 4.2 or higher.
1. First, restore the network defaults on the printer by navigating to "Wireless" then choosing "Settings" and selecting "Defaults".
2. Once the defaults have been restored, enable the wireless radio (if not already enabled).
3. From this point you will need to use your iPhone and go to the "Settings" App
4. Within the "Settings" app, choose "Wi-Fi"
5. There should be a network listed under "Choose a Network..." that starts with "HP-" and includes "J611a", choose this network to connect to.
6. Once you have found and connected to your printers wireless radio, you should be connected and should try a test print to ensure the connection has been made successfully.
The only downside to this method of printing is that you lose any internet connection from your iPhone because you are connected to the printers wireless radio instead of a valid internet source.

Iphone wont connect to iTunes or computer wont connect to iPhone?

Either my Iphone wont connect to itunes or my computer wont connect to iphone! My computer makes an unusual noise as I plug in a apple device, This wont let itunes pick up my devices. I have gone though all the proceedures online in which have failed. But when uninstalling Itunes, Apple mobile device was deleted in which then windows recognised my iphone and it started to charge which it did not do when I previously plugged it in. Just wondering if anyone has had similar problems and knows how to help?? Thanks

It that fails,
DFU mode[1] is a state that you can put your iPhone into where it can interface with iTunes but does not load the iPhone operating system or boot loader (this is what really differs DFU mode from recovery mode). DFU stands for Device Firmware Update.
While connected to PC, running iTunes, hold down Home and Power( button on upper right edge) button for exactly 8 seconds.
Release the power button. Restore message will appear in iTunes. The device will be recognized by iTunes, but no display will appear on the device itself. The lack of a display on the device will verify that it is in dfu mode.

Macbook Pro 10.6.8 wont connect to verizon hotspot

I have a Macbook Pro running 10.6.8
I cant get it to connect to my Iphone 4S Verizon Hotspot. Other computers will connect to the hotspot so I know the phone part is working.
I turn on the hotspot, find the network "iphone" in the airport bar, but when I connect it just gives me an exclamation point.
I tried tethering with bluetooth and usb with no results.
There is no firewall active and I cant figure out what other network settings might be stopping the connection. The computer was configured to work with my local NAS, so maybe the tech guy did something to the settings regarding that?
Please help!

Satellite Pro A200 failing to connect with iphone hotspot via wifi

Apologies if I get some of the technical jargon wrong but I pretty useless when it comes to IT issues.
I have a Satellite Pro A200 and had problems connecting to various wifi connections.
The computer would see the wifi connection and connect to it but i wasn't able to connect to the internet.
The office issue has now been sorted by our IT support guy (security settings on the new router we too complex for my PC or something like that) but he wasn't able to solve the problem of not being able to connect to my iphone to use the 'hotspot' feature via wifi.
Does anyone know a way of solving this or is it a simple fact of the laptop being too old and really needs updating?

This is not a question of notebook age
As far as I know not all mobile phone providers support this
You should firstly ask your mobile provider if you can use the tethering function.
If this would be supported my mobile provider, then you have to connect the iphone to the notebook firstly
For that youve got two options: you could use the BT connection (in such case check if notebook supports BT too) or via USB cable provided with the iPhone.
(PS: As far as I know tethering is support by iOS3.0 and higher)
After the iphone has been connected to the notebook you need to enable the tethering on iphone.
Under Settings -> Network you should see the option internet tethering this need to be enabled.
Now you should be able to see that in Network & sharing Center of the control panel.

Personal Hotspot
You can use Personal Hotspot (iPhone 4 or later) to share an Internet connection with a
computer or other device—such as an iPod touch, iPad, or other iPhone—connected to your
iPhone via Wi-Fi. You can also use Personal Hotspot to share an Internet connection with a
computer connected to iPhone via Bluetooth or USB. Personal Hotspot works only if iPhone is
connected to the Internet over the cellular data network.

Share an Internet connection: Go to Settings > General > Cellular and tap Set Up Personal
Hotspot—if it appears—to set up the service with your carrier.
After you turn on Personal Hotspot, other devices can connect in the following ways:
• W-Fi: On the device, choose your iPhone from the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
• USB: Connect your iPhone to your computer using the cable that came with it. In your

Since I upgraded my operating system my iPad won't connect to iPhone hotspot

Hi,
I have recently purchased an iPad to work alongside my iPhone 4S and found the "hotspot" feature really useful
However I know find that it doesn't work.
I turn on the iPhone hotspot and the iPad, sees it as a Network which tries to connect to but never makes it. The circular wheel just keeps going round and round.
The iPhone says "Personal Hotspot 1 connection ", but I can't get onto the internet with the iPad.
The only thing that has changed is I have recently upgraded the operating systems on both items
Is that just a co-incidence?
What has gone wrong?

IPad mini won't connect to wifi, but does connect to iPhone hotspot.

I have a 1st gen iPad mini. It suddenly didn't connect to any of my known networks (House, work, parents). It does see the wifi signal but does not connect. I did a reset to all network settings, and it only connects to my iPhone hotspot but when I try to put the password for all the other wifi networks it gives me a message that the password is incorrect, which I'm sure is not right because I tried it on the other devices. I made a full restore to factory settings so it's runing iOS 8.1, it is like new, but still the same problem.

Hi Maybe it's a hardware problem or a modem problem. I think you need to take to Apple Store they may exchange but you will have to pay part of the cost if over 1 year old. Cheers Brian

I had to do the upgrade to itunes 8.2 b4 i could do 3.0 upgrade.

I had mega problems too. Try following the steps in my posting as below after creating a new user account on your computer with ADMIN priviledges also. See my posting on 20/June/2009 22:33 titled "Upgrade Error number 4 and Restore Error 1603 when going to OS 3.0 - Solved" And turn off any antivirus and firewall software too, before doing so. In ITunes, highlight your iphone icon and then click the Restore Button on the ITunes Summary tab which seems to force the iphone into an update. Dont try using the Check for update button. Good Luck...........
If i was doing my upgrade again i would first do a backup in ITunes, and then On the phone go to Setting > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. And then restore the backup afterwards. I believe this is what Apple should be recommending

Photosmart Plus B209a-m Won't connect to iPhone Hotspot

This is my first time to post. Hopefully, someone can help me. My friend is using a Verizon iPhone as a hotspot. He can connect 5 devices to the iPhone hotspot. When I attempted to connect his Photosmart Plus B209a-m to the hotspot, the laptop loses the wireless connection to the hotspot. The printer installation wizard gets to the point where it finds the SSID and I enter the security phrase. When the install process reaches about 40%, the his laptop loses the wireless connection.
The only way to reconnect the laptop to the iPhone is to disable the printer wireless radio or turn the printer off.
The hotspot uses WPA-PSK security. I noticed that when the wizard found the hotspot it showed WPA security not WPA-PSK.
Is there an update for the printer so that it can connect using WPA-PSK? I could not find one. Or is there something else that I need to do to make the printer connect to the iPhone hotspot.
I worked with Verizon support then with Apple support but since we can connect 2 laptops and a Smartphone to the hotspot, they say it is a printer issue.

Are you sure the hotspot uses WPA and not WPA2 (with or without the suffixes of PSK or AES is all the same)?
The printer will probably not connect to WPA2. Is there a way to change the iPhone encryption?
Actually, is there a way to remove the encryption altogether for testing purposes?

IPad 2 connects via iphone hotspot, but not router

I have a iPad 2 that refuses to see or connect to my "G" wi-fi network. Both my iphones and iPad mini connect to the same wi-fi network without any issues. But, the iPad 2 will connect to to my iPhone 5 via AT&T personal hotspot (wi-fi... is this really wi-fi?) and my mac via Bluetooth. I have reset the ipad 2 to factory settings, reset network settings and nothing is working to connect to a standard wi-fi network. Does this sound like the wi-fi antenna is not working?

How to display current/previous connections to iPhone hotspot?

While using my iPhone personal hotspot to provide a web connection to my Macbook Air, sometimes the iPhone shows 2 connections (but I should be the only one using it!). How can I find out if other people are using my hotspot? Is it possible to display the current/previous connections that have been made to the hotspot, somewhere in the iPhone menus?

Device connected to iPhone hotspot, now all data considered "Tether Data"?

I just got my iPhone 4 yesterday, with the $20 2G hotspot option.
So, what I attempted to do was tether my iPad to my iPhone so I could keep my twitter feed up. I ran Pandora on my iPhone. When I checked my usage data, there were multiple MB of data listed as tethered data. I expected to see a couple KB of tethered data and the larger chunk under network data.
My thinking is that the data used on the phone is network data, the data used by the connected wifi device is tethered data. It seems all of the data being used by my phone is considered tethered when a device is connected, whether that device is using data or not.
Is this acurate? If this is how it works, it's {word filter avoidance}

i agree. i don't think that even if vzn's intent was for it NOT to work this way, i don't know how they could track and segregate the data. it all flows through the iphone so i'm guessing there is no way to decipher what is used by the phone and what is being used by the other devices.

Itunes wont connect with iphone!!

My iphone will not connect to itunes with an error that reads "AppleMobileDeviceHelper has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." This is real frustrating. To my knowledge I have only upgraded to 1.1 for the iphone but it was working after that?? Please help!!

In my case this error never occurred before upgrading from iTunes for Windows 7.5 to 7.6 (and from iPhone software 1.1.2 to 1.1.3).
A complete uninstall and reinstall of all software does absoluely nothing save to reinstall buggy software that was obviously shoved out the door inadequately tested to coincide with MacWorld.
The only solution is to force the phone into recovery mode and restore. After half an hour, you synch one time. Then you do it all over again.

Smtp settings on iPad connected to iPhone hotspot ?

I'm using mt 3GS as a hotspot to my ipad2, but am getting the smtp address being rejected by the server when sending an email.
The sim card in the iPhone is a German prepay (vodafone.de) with data enabled and I can receive emails and surf the web via the iphone
The smtp address for the account is smtp.ihug.co.nz.
Should this be a German Vodafone address?
Vodafone helpdesk said they were not qualified to answer and refered me to apple...

There are 2 key email settings.
Incoming email server, also known as the POP or mail server
Outgoing email server, also known as the SMTP server
What are the email settings for @vodafone.co.nz?
POP Server: pop.vodafone.co.nz
SMTP Server: smtp.vodafone.co.nz
Email Address: [email protected]
What are the email settings for @ihug.co.nz?
POP Server: pop.ihug.co.nz
SMTP Server: smtp.ihug.co.nz
Email Address: username
The SSL, and 'server requires authentication' are not used in our systems so leave the tick boxes un-checked.
If you need them, advanced settings are
Port: 995 and check the "SSL" tick box
