Laptop keeps making device connect and Device disconnect sound.

Welcome to the Forums.
The Desktop Window Manager is a part of Windows 8 that manages the aero effects (i.e. Aero Peek, Window Coloration, etc.). From the screenshots that you posted, it looks like a problem with DWM itself as discussed in this microsoft article.
Can you try to:
1. Run Windows Updates to get the latest patch and bug fixes for your OS.
2. Update your display driver (if you have Intel HD 4000 Graphics, get it here)
3. Disable visual effects and reboot.

HP Pavilion G6-1b70us - Purchased 2 days ago from Office MaxThat is a hard drive clicking. It sounds kind of intermittent like it might be just the hard drive safety system parking the read head on the drive. Do you get a sustained click when you try to boot up? Have you tried the hard drive health test in the BIOS? Just tap F10 as you power up and go into the setup/bios and look for the hard drive self-test and run the long form version and see what you get.

deleted messages keep re-appearing, others seem to disappear and reappear at random
I have the same problem. Thankfully one which was missing came back. I printed it out and made a PDF of it since it was an important one I'd been looking for.
I have three icloud email accounts which folders for each one. Now they mostly come up in my inbox instead of the correct folder and they won't move to the correct one.

I have a problem with my desktop folders suddenly disappear and then reappear.
This happened after I had allowed BT access to my harddrive.
Doeas anyone know the fix?

Desktop icons disappear (and don't return) if switch halfway to a new desktop.
If I only swipe halfway to a new desktop (using the trackpad) and then let go to return to the original, my desktop icons disappear. To get them back i have to either killall finder, or switch to another desktop then switch back.

Outlook OWA keeps making me login over and over....
I just purchased a new Macbook Air over the weekend that should be updated with all the latest everything. When I log into my company's Outlook OWA site, the interface is flakey on my Mac generally making me log in over and over and over again. I can barely get anything done and it is making it extremely difficult to work within. I am new to Macs, so I'm hoping there is just some setting somewhere I can take a look at. The OWA site is stable from my Windows laptop. My company uses Outlook 2010, and I am using Safari web browser from my MacBook Air. Any ideas? Thanks.
Is no one having or had this issue? I have tried all login options at the Outlook OWA screen with private computer, public computer, light version, regular version, all options have me loging on over and over. I have also tried Firefox browser now too with similar results. When on my ipad this doesn't happen. If anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

My computer keeps making a beeping sound and won't turn on??
I plugged my macbook pro into the power outlet and hit the power button in the top corner and it just keeps beeping. the light on the front of the keyboard part is blinking but nothing will come on the screen...

Ok so it started few days ago( when v 15 was new version),
1) firefox lasted at max a minute before crash saying firefox encountered unspecified error and will exit. Then the send crash report box would open.
2) When it was working; my muse kept hanging, like if you unplug it and then plug it in, no problem on other browsers with same sites but on fox it did.
Remedial steps taken:
1) I disabled all addons and extensions no dice.
2) re installed it using v 15 then 16 beta then 16 today no dice
3) Re installed windows and installed Firefox works fine but when i import my stuff from backup even without addons and extensions (using mozbackup) it starts the problems again. repeated step 2 but still zip.
I uninstall it and install version 4. import ALL settings even plugins extensions addons everything and it is working like a charm.
why on earth does newer versions have a problem with it.? they are supposed to be more resistant to crashes.Turns out it was a problem with "general setting".
i installed v 16.0.1 and then restored from previous profile things one by one.
and at last when i imported general settings it caused problems.
so i left that out and now it is working awesome.
i had moved the positions of icons in toolbars and probably thats why when newer version is installed it cannot make sense of it and starts doingproblems(well thats my guess). -

Mac Keeps Crashing - Menu Bar Disappears and Nothing Will Run
I'm having major problems with a macbook, 2.2Ghz, 4Gb RAM, 160Gb Hard Drive, 10.5.2
I'm not sure if this is a software bug, something to do with the fact that I've recently installed 4Gb RAM, replacing 2Gb that I installed a few months ago, or possibly something with parallels desktop running Vista, I recently installed several vista updates.
Basically, there are several ways in which the computer keeps crashing - I've pretty much figured out how to make it crash now. When it crashes, the menu bar disappears, sometimes leaving the shadow beneath it and the right hand icons, sometimes not, and the dock becomes useless - nothing will run. I cant use expose etc or switch between windows. Pressing Cmd Alt Esc to open the force quit dialogue box bring up an empty box - implying that nothing whatsoever is running! I have to physically shut down the computer using by holding the power button and start it back up again. When it starts up, it sometimes continues to refuse to work until i restart it again. There is no message whatsoever about having restarted or crashed.
The computer will work fine for most processes, but the things making it crash are:
1. Entering Time Machine (I've had to stop backing up and disconnect my time machine drive now)
2. Using parallels desktop - I run windows vista, and it'll work fine until I launch any applications that are more complicated than just solitaire or freecell - windows messenger and powerpoint will cause the crash. OSX won't be working, but windows will continue to work fine - I can finish what Im doing and shut it down, although keyboard input no longer works. I then have to restart OSX.
3. Running DVD Player in Front Row has now started bringing up the grey screen of death and telling me to restart.
Obviously these things can be avoided - but I can't back up my computer, I can't watch DVD's without crashing the computer, restarting and then going straight into DVD player, and I can't use the copy of Vista on Parallels that I've just spent a fair bit of money on.
I've tried taking out each of the 2Gb Kingston RAM cards, which came brand new and sealed, to see if one or other is possibly faulty, but they are both causing the same problems. I don't have the previous RAM cards to hand to test.
Has anyone here experienced anything like this before, or can anyone help me?Hiya Pricerob,
Your problems seem to be exactly the same as the issue I'm having when it happens. Can I ask how much RAM you have installed, and how frequently the problem occurs? I'm curious also because I'm planning on buying an imac soon, and was planning on installing the 4Gb of RAM I have into that when it arrives - the £300 apple charges for the upgrade is a little excessive.
I mentioned that I've tried to download the latest firmware update, but it keeps crashing upon completion. Have you had any issues like this?
Another really obscure thing I've found regarding the firmware update is that it saves an install file to my Applications/Utilities folder. This file would cause my mac to crash. Every time I opened the utilities folder, it would crash. I moved it to the desktop, and had major issues where the computer would crash immediately upon startup because the file was there, and the same problem once I managed to get it in the trash. It was only by accessing the macbook in target disk mode that I was able to delete the file and use my computer as normal again.
Anyway, considering the problems I've had, would anyone say it's worth risking installing the RAM into a new imac when it comes, considering that the problems with my macbook are ongoing even when the RAM is removed and I can easily reinstall the operating system on a brand new computer, or should I leave it and buy some more? -
World music & orchestra plug ins keep disappearing and reappearing
I'd be grateful if anyone can explain how to keep the plug ins like orchestral and world instruments in my library permanently as sometimes when I select an instrument, the plug ins disappear from the list and I don't know how to access them until they somehow re appear. Is there an icon or a setting I can select to keep all the instruments in the library tab at all times.
These plug ins came with logic express automatically.

Menu icons (time, battery, etc) keep disappearing and reappearing
The menu icons in the upper right corner (battery, internet, time, etc) keep flashing on and off and are not accessible. This started yesterday and, in addition to the flashing icons, iTunes no longer recognizes or syncs with my iPhone or iPad. Any suggestions before I trek out to the Genius Bar?? Thanks!

The genius bar may be your best bet, but you could try booting from your install disc and repairing your Boot Disk. Also check to see that the SMART status of the hard drive is verified.
