I have just purchased my first iPod touch and I cannot transfer my music from my laptop. The sync button does not appear to work. What have I done wrong? I am a grandma trying to keep up with technology please help.
Connect it to your computer and restore it as a new device. Then chose what music you want to sync with it and do so just like your Touch does.

i'm downloading my apps from my desktop, but when i'm downloading apps from my laptop, the apps can't be transfered. what setting could i adjust so that i could transfer my apps from my laptop to my ipod touch4. Thank you very much-ariston
You can only sync to one iTunes Library/one computerbut you can manage music among different computers. See:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
The only way to sync app from the desktop computer is to make that the syncing computer. You can't sync app from more than one iTunes Library/one computer.
To make the desktop computer the syncing computer you have to:
- get all apps and other item on the desktop computer
- Authorize the computer for the iTunes accounts inquestion
- Connect the iPod to the desktop computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup
- Restore the iPod from that backup -
My co-worker has given me his iPod to take home and transfer his music to my laptop, however, I am unable to access his music to download it to my computer. How does this work?
You need to transfer the iTunes Library from the most recent backup you made before the hard drive was replaced.
You can't transfer the full iTunes Library from the iPad back to iTunes.
There are third-party Windows applications that will transfer data from an iOS device, but they don't re-create the iTunes Library exactly as it was before. -
My iTunes library is too large for my iPod classic--can I create a separate library so that I can split the current library and sync the distinct libraries onto separate iPods?
- If the Gmail accounts are IMAP one then if the library is erased and then you use the account old email will be redownload
- Easing the library on the MacBook does not effect what is on the iMac. On the other hand if you deleted the messages in the Mail app on the MacBook then they will deleted from all devices.

i was given an ipod by a friend due to them buying a newer ipod. I want to transfer the music that is currently on the ipod to my itunes without having to sync my ipod and delete the music. Any suggestions?
Without even knowing if Apple's DRM would permit this, if you are in the U.S. then that's copyright infringement.

I have recently upgraded the new Apple software and now when I purchased new songs they show up in my tunes library However, I cannot transfer or download them to my iPod shuffle...any help is appreciated..my son is having the same problem downloading to his iPhone 4.
From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes. -

Can't move, transfer or sync files from laptop to iPod
I have an 80 gig Classic and last week it decided not to sync. iTunes told me to restore. I did that. It would not sync any of the music or video that is still in the iTunes folders. After deleting iTunes, rebooting, downloading latest version and re-installing the same problem continues. The error message I get is "Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because they could not be found. For a list of items that could not be copied click below." It lists all of the files in my library. If I can find them in the library, see them with Windows explorer and they show up in iTunes, why can't they find their way to my iPod? What am I missing here? Any suggestions?
Hi brentfrommi,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPod touch may not be recognized by iTunes. The troubleshooting steps in this article can help:

Then i went to music tapped the bluetooth icon and only, ipod touch and apple tv were recognized. It didn't list either bluetooth device. So,i couldn't get it to work.

Yes, they work if the profile used by the BT device is supported by the iPod. See:

Can I buy laptop with free ipod touch for family member in school?
I bought a macbook pro for my sister-in-law who is in college on the online store using the education discount. We figured she'd take the ipod touch as well. After purchasing, I noticed that only Parents are eligible for the discount. How is this going to work? They didn't require the proof of eligibility at checkout online (which surprised me). Are they going to stiff me on the rebate for the ipod touch?
I don't know about "stiffing you" since you weren't officially eligible to purchase at the HED discount for your sister-in-law (the fact that they didn't ask for proof of eligibility doesn't waive the eligibility requirements; those are stated several places). Your sister-in-law should have purchased the Mac herself. So if Apple doesn't allow the rebate claim, that's as per their rules. But you can submit the claim:
http://www.apple.com/promo/
and see what happens. If they deny the claim, then you'll have to accept the decision.
Good luck.
