My disc drive keeps making the insert disc noise. why?

every so often my computer will make the noise like a disc is being inserted. it occurs a few times an hour with varying lengths of time in between each noise. this is so weird. it just started happening in the last 2 months or so

If the drive scratches discs or it simply stops working, it can be replaced. Replacement drives are not terribly expensive.

My macbook wont boot up. When I turn it on, the screen turns black right away and the cd/dvd drive keeps making a constant "ejecting" sound.
The strange thing though is that once in a while starts up propperly, but suddely goes black again (after a min. or two), and the ejecting sound comes back. What to do, and yh, I've never done a back up so would it be possible to take out the HD and regain whats in there?

I finally figured out how to fix this. First I reviewed "Mac OS X: Why your Mac might not sleep of stay in sleep mode." I noted the bullet: "Do you have any other external USB or Firewire devices connected?" I have an CP685AVR for a UPS for my Mac. I replaced the battery a few months ago. I also hooked up Apple's 'Energy Saver' power management software to the CP685AVR using the USB connection. I disconnected it, and that solved the problem. I still have the UPS and battery back-up; I just can't "monitor" the battery. What's to monitor? It always said the battery was 100% charged even right up to the time the previous battery failed. Speaker keeps making a small popping noise after a call

Right after a call whether on speaker phone or not the speaker keeps popping. Very small noise, hardly noticeable, but it eventually keeps getting louder and pops in about 10-15 sec intervals.
I don't think I care about the noise, it's hardly audible, but is it taking away the little battery life it has?

As far as I can tell, it happens to people with external speakers. I have no external speakers at all, no popping.

My computer's CD/DVD drive makes the noise of it trying to pull in a disc whenver my computer is sat down or squeezed slightly from being picked up. I'm not sure why it keeps doing this. Is there anything wrong with it? Or is it just a little too sensitive?

Yes and no, the computer is obviously physically triggering the disk catch which may mean it's got a loose screw or something similar. It's advisable one way or the other to have it looked at or look at it yourself, the mechanism for the drive should be visible by removing the keyboard.

I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro and the hard drive keeps making a clicking noise. The computer is still under warranty. Will it cost anything to be repaired and will all the data on the hardrive be lost?

White screen means the EFI partition isn't loading and it's the first partition on the drive to load up, EFI contains the gray boot screen.

It started a few months ago, but I got the macbook about 3 years ago. It seems that it doesn't make noises when there is a disc inserted, but when it's empty it does (very embarrassing in a quiet library!) - it's almost like it's satisfied when full of food, but it rumbles when it's hungry. Any ideas?

My Macbook Pro feels slow and the hard drive is making a faint rattling noise.

I'm seriously considering taking it back to the Apple Store. I've had it for just over 4 months.
The hard drive is a lot louder than it used to be and rattles faintly.
I used to be able to open various large applications like Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Fireworks for web design all at once, and each application worked fine transferring different files from one to the other.
I'm really disappointed that after 4 months my MacBook Pro feels like an ordinary laptop. It's embarrassing to think I paid £1000 for something that will decrease in performance ability over such a short period of time.
I repair disk permissions, have 15% + free space on my hard drive, empty the recycle bin, pretty much everything that should help un-clog the system.
I have also use compressed air to blow dust out of the fans and around the insides of my MacBook Pro. (No I have not damaged anything, the noise is roughly the same as it was BEFORE I took the MacBook apart), and still no luck.
Any help, suggestions or even sharing a similar experience would be appreciated!

I woulg take it back to the store, the HD could have issues, it might be loose, I hope they don't void your warranty because you opened it

MacBook drive keeps making eject noises

A key fell off my macbook earlier this week so I took it in to get it fixed. I got it back and the superdrive doesn't work.. it just makes eject sounds and buzzes like trying to read a disk...
If I try to put in a disk it feels like there is one inside, but if i put it in while it makes the eject noise, it goes in and is readable but makes noise like something is touching the disk..
Anything I can do to fix it? Thanks.. this is beginning to look like the rev a MBP I had

Lets just say I opened it and there was an extra clip (the ones on the right side beside the superdrive that hold the case on i think) ontop of the drive putting pressure on it and taking that out lets the disks get in fine

A book I created in iphoto keeps making the program shut down with an error message...

I created a photo book on my iphoto but have not purchased yet. Now when I open iPhoto and click on the book under 'keepsakes' the program shuts down and says iphoto quit unexpectedly. I have been unable to open the book since I created it. The other book that I have made before opens but for some reason, the program will immediately shut down after I click on it.

It could be that the database entries for that particular book are corrupted. Apply the fix below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
iPhoto 8 (09) and earlier- run the options indicated
iPhoto 9 (11) and later- run Option #4 to rebuild the database
