My disk drive is ejecting all cds and dvds. How do I resolve the problem?
Anyone have any suggestions?
ejecting immediately, or after several seconds?
1. if after several seconds, the laser diode lens is dirty / dust covered
2. if immediate ejection, the loader assy. is damaged/ broke
verify both with another disk, a commercial disk, not blank media.
1 you can do yourself IF you have the skills, its not easy on a slot loader
2. requires a service call
good news if out of warranty a replacement Superdrive is $40, however thats a "do it yourself" price.

As usual I am writing this on behalf of my friend that just got a White 1.83 week 29 MacBook. He was using it all day today, importing CD's into iTunes. The CD drive will no longer accept any CDs. When you put them in, it pulls them in by itself, starts to read them, and then spits them right back out. He has tried numerous different CDs and DVDs to no avail. They all get spit out. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
-MRCURFrom personal experience and reading through the forums...most people seem to be having this problem with the superdrives not the combo drives. This makes your case a little more unique...but probably still the same issue.
It seems that the manufacturer of the combo and superdrives made some low quality devices. There are literally hundreds of postings in this discussion group about this problem.
I Had my macbook for all of 24 hours when the superdrive started doing this same thing. Apple was quick with the repair though. I sent it in Friday and I am getting it back today. i will let you know if it is fixed when I get home tonight. It seems that a lot of people in these forums have sent their macbooks in more than once for their superdrives.
For $1400.00...you'd think that you'd have a reliable system, you know?

I have already downloaded the ios 7 but cannot access the iTunes Radio from the music app. There is no iTunes Radio icon at all! How did that happen? How can I resolve the problem? Please help. Thanks!

A client has sent me an indesign file I cannot open. She says she has updated to Indesign CC 2014. I am a CC member and fully updated my own software but cannot open the file she has sent me, not even if she saves as an IDML, how do I resolve the problem?
There are a few things to try.
First, if this file came to you vial email attachment, it could have been corrupted. Ask her to zip the file and send it again. That sometimes helps.
I suppose there's a chance that the file is already zipped, so see if that's the case and unzip it if so.
If the file name doesn't end with .indd, add it and see if that helps.
If you are double-clicking, try File>Open from within InDesign.
Last (and I know this sounds like a joke, but I've seen it many times), sometimes people attach a Mac Alias or Windows Shortcut instead of the actual file. What is the file size? If it's really small, that might be the reason.
Also, no offense intended if some of this sounds like stuff you have already tried. I don't know what you know, so I'm just spit-balling. -

When I switch libraries I "lose" the majority of the material in my main library (or at least I can't see it) and can only restore it by repairing the database. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and how I can resolve the problem? Thanks
I seem to have found a way around it. Rather than switching libraries by going into files/switch libraries I used Aperture Preferences to change them. I've done it a couple of times and it appears to work OK.
That is an interesting finding. It suggests, that your "Preferences" file "com.apple.Aperture.plist" may have been corrupted and you fixed it this way. Can you now switch between libraries the usual way? If not, I'd try to remove the "preferences" file from the user library to the Desktop and relaunch Aperture.

Hello All,
since last week my disk drive does not play any original DVD or CD anymore, but copied ones, no matter which format work fine. I am a bit confused that the copied ones still work.
Anybody experienced the same? Will I have to get a new disk drive? Unfortunately the warranty expired last month

The username is the name attached to your Home folder - /Users/username/. If you don't know the password then it can be changed but you will need the installer DVD that came with the computer for the installed version of OS X. You have not provided that information.

This had no affect on my problem. Sorry, but no help at all. I can enter safe mode with nothing checked in the dialog and the problems go away. Any further ideas?

This problem started after iTunes froze whilst trying to import a CD (not a copy protected one i think) and I had to force quit. Since then every CD I put in the machine - music or CD-R whirrs for a bit and then is ejected after a few seconds.
but..I can still read DVDs no problem (Its not a DVD writer), so I guess it must be a software rather than h/w problem

Did you try repairing permissions and/or whatever it is you do under Panther? Sorry, I never used Panther.

Uaually when you purchase something from the app store and it has downloaded, you see an install button. I found nothing of that nature. I have a late model 2009 mac mini with plenty of memory and plenty of disk space. What am I missing?

Can you check in your Applications Folder to see if the installer is still there. You are confused on some things, because the installer should be giving you a DOWNLOAD text on the purchases page, not install. -

Why you can't redownload? Don't you have the Apple ID that used to download these apps?
You can "transfer purchaces" by right click on your iphone in iTunes but i guess you computer is not authorized and will ask you to authorize with Apple ID. Try it. -

Prolems started after uploading the Lion in March. Now at least Windows 7 users can´t open any pdfs or jpegs that I have included into sent e-mails. They can see that they are included but can´t open them. What can I do?It's a bug in Outlook. Each version of Outlook has its own unique bug that prevents it form displaying email that didn't come from another Outlook user. Apple has attempted to dumb-down Mail and make it more complex in order to work around these issues, but Microsoft keeps changing the bugs in each version of Outlook instead of making an Internet Email standard compliant email client.
Are they able to right-click on the image and save it from the contextual menu?
Otherwise, make sure Send windows friendly, attachments at end of message are checked and send plain text.
Or, zip the attachments and send that way.
There is also a program called Attachment Tamer that many people have found useful.
