My disk drive keeps spitting out cds
yeah i have a macbook that i have maybe had for 3 years and i cant put any recordable cds in because it keeps ejecting them from my computer the cd specs im trying to use are ( Memorex, DVD+R DL,8X,8.5GB) is there a way i can fix this with out buying anything or it being really affordable to repair because im broke and i really need to be dependable on my mac
You usually go all the way into the Burn process until it says "Insert a blank DVD now", THEN put in the DVD.
If you put the DVD in early, Mac OS X looks at it, decides it is blank and therefore useless, and spits it out.

Super drive keeps spitting out discs
Hi, my mum is trying to burn photos from i-photo library to a disc. The i-book keeps spitting it out. She tried another disc and it spit that out too. She even tried playing a disc thats worked on it before and it spat that out too. It isn't showing the disc on the desktop. It did accept the original blank disc once after several tries and started the burn but then spat it out with a message that said something about burn failing because it couldnt calibrate the laser or something.
Any ideas would be welcome. The machine is less than 3 years old, and doesn't get heavy use. Its rarely on the internet so probably hasnt had any updates since I did them when I visited last January.Hi there:
Given the computer's lack of use (online, or in general?) a certain amount of
preventative maintenance could be done at about any time, and alleviate a
chance something is acting up in the system; and it isn't a hardware issue.
Things such as starting up in SafeBoot (shift key held) then log in to the Mac,
then run Disk Utility and have it 'repair disk permissions' and restart. This is
not a fix for a specific problem; but is part of a general background action a
Mac running OS X could find some help from having this done. I have and use
OnyX from Titanium Software (download, runs free - is a donationware) to
keep on top of various background maintenance routines otherwise not done.
There is a curious and almost desperate (yet it works for some users) answer
to the situation where discs eject and don't work; and I found this idea from a
search, after a bit of reading: "A fix for my superdrive problems" - & comments:
http://bura-bura.com/blog/archives/2005/07/11/a-fix-for-my-superdrive-problems/
A computer kept in top condition and updated, sometimes finds new issues in
some update or upgrade, but if the issue can be isolated and troubleshooted,
one can learn if this is hardware based or software based. And, if the computer
has the optional AppleCare Plan (adds two more years) repairs may be covered.
The superdrive may be defective; even if not used much. Or, it may be a simple
issue in the software. See the link above, for a novel and voodoo-like cure!
Good luck & happy computing! -
Disk drive keeps kicking out when a new disc is put in.
Anyone,
I just got a new disc, which plays well in the car, but when I bring it in the house and put it in the
Lenovo G575, it just kicks it out and states in the dialog box, Insert a disc into Drive F. I then
bought a new pack of CD's and for everyone of them, I am getting the same message.
Can someone let me know what they think the problem would be and how I can resolve this.
Thanx so much in advance.
JerryHi
Welcome To Lenovo Community
It seems there is some mechanical issue or dust in the drive which is hampering the disk to fit in the driver
Please visit Lenovo Service center to have it fixed
Hope This Helps

Arch disk check keeps spitting out strange error's after installing BT
Hey guys,
Basically earlier today i figured i wanted to try out backtrack 4 but I could only have a maximum of 4 partitions on an hd at a time.
So i deleted my partition that contained my arch home directory (didn't really have any data on it and i figured i could just make a new one later) to create an extended partition to put backtrack on. Well all went well except now when I select arch instead of backtrack i get a disk check error.
This is the first part of the error, I can't exactly copy and paste it as its on my laptop.

And that about it.
Pleaseee help I'm guessing it has to do something with the missing home directory but i really do not have any clue as to what is going on.okay so I've done some digging and it seems my fdisk is extremely "discombobulated" theres abunch of random characters everywere and its not readble until you get down to about the last 25 lines.
Also sda4 is an extended partition.
I don't know how that would help but I'm trying -
I can't burn a dvd using any method, idvd tells me that my super drive is missing, dvd studio pro quits when i click burn and disk utility keeps spitting the disk out when I click burn and enter the disk??? how do i repair my superdrive for imac, or how do I do whatever I need to do to get it working: I have already tried using a lens cleaning cd and also restored my nvram or something i forget what it was called but i restarted my computer holding down command+optoion+p+r and still nothing???
Free solutions are the best, although if I have to pay I will, I would prefer to not have to buy an external burner if possible and already know that is an option so please don't give me that answer... thank you for any help you can giveUnless your iMac is still covered by AppleCare, get an external DVD burner.
You can get perfectly good ones from Amazon for less than $40. -
So I noticed this about a week back. Whenever i insert a CD it goes in reads it for a while then spits it back out. After i try some more times the CD will not even go in. I bought a lens cleaning disk and when i insert that it reads it perfectly but still other CD's keep spitting out. I know i should send it for repairs but is there any way i can not do that and fix it?
ThanksThe drive accepts discs but they do not mount or are automatically ejected
Check the disc's surface for scratches and dirt, since these things can prevent the disc from appearing on the desktop.
The MacBook Air SuperDrive is designed to be used with MacBook Air and Mac mini computers that do not have a built-in optical drive. For best results, connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive directly to the computer's USB port instead a USB hub.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
Ensure your drive can read the specific type of disc being used. The System Profiler or System Information may provide additional information regarding what media your computer supports.
Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or earlier: Open Apple System Profiler by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple () menu. Then, click More Info.
OS X 10.7 Lion or later: Open System Information by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple () menu. Then, click System Report.
If the disc continues to not be recognized, contact Apple, an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store for additional troubleshooting, evaluation, or service.

Trying to upgrade Os X. 14 out of 15 MacBooks installed succesfully. One machine keeps spitting out the CD! Why? What can be done to upgrade machine?
Sounds like the optical drive may be on it's way out. It should be possible to connect the Mac to one of the others by firewire and do the installation by booting from the install disc in the donor Mac, then choosing the remote HD as the target when prompted.

Why does my Macbook spit out cds
Is anyone able to tell me why my Macbook spits out cds and how I can sort this out?
Hi Menamorris,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. This article has steps for troubleshooting the SuperDrive built in to your Macbook:
Apple Computers: Troubleshooting the slot-loading SuperDrive
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2801
Accepts discs but they don't mount or are automatically ejected
Make sure the drive is not placed upside down. The aluminum enclosure should be facing up as shown in section 1.
Check the disc's surface for scratches and dirt, since these things can prevent the disc from appearing on the desktop.
Connect the MacBook Air SuperDrive directly to the computer's USB port instead a USB hub.
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
Ensure your drive can read the specific type of disc being used. The System Profiler or System Information may provide additional information regarding what media your computer supports.
OS X Snow Leopard v10.6 or earlier: Open Apple System Profiler by choosing "About this Mac" from the Apple () menu. Then, click More Info.
OS X Lion v10.7 and later: Click the Apple () menu and then hold down the Option key. Choose System Information from the menu.
If the disc continues to not be recognized, contact Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment with an Apple Retail Store.
Cheers,

My i Mac keeps spitting out any CD inserted whereas before it worked fine. Why?
My i-Mac keeps spitting out any CD when I try to play or blank CD when I try to burn. Has previously worked fine. Any suggestions?
You'll find that the none of the files are stored in .cda files. These are simple shortcuts to files on the CD-ROM. These files do not actually contain in audio information.
If they work ok in your Windows computer why don't you convert the data to a more transportable format such as MP3 and get them onto your Mac that way. -
I have a power mac G5. Ir originally had Tiger on it. When I reinstalled for some odd reason the disc decided to install Panther, no clue why!! Either way I got a hold of a Leopard disc for this computer. It is apple certified and bought from Amazon and works for this computer.
Hoever, for some odd reason it keeps spitting it out. Discs under 4.7 GB is reads fine but the bigger discs it wont seem to read. What I need is to know how to get, or force, it to boot from an extrenal dvd drive. Or any other methods to get it to install.I do not believe you can "Upgrade" directly from the "Panther" installed on your computer to "Leopard". You have to have at least "Tiger" installed already Before you can install Leopard. Thus your Mac is not recognizing the Leopard Install disk.

Why does it keep spitting out my disk?
I just got a new MacBook Pro and I'm trying to install Office Mac. I put the disk in, it takes it, and a second later, spits it out. What's the deal? Do you have to do something before you insert a disk?
No, you don't need to do anything before inserting a disk.
Open 'Console' in the utilities folder of application and look at the log messages. That should give you some clues.
It might be a bad disk - try and see if another machine will mount it. If it spits out other disks, the drive could be bad.
Try resetting your SMC controller and PRAM (google this) to see if it solves things. This solved a drive issue I once had with a new MBP.
If none of the above helps, consider taking it back to the store or phone applecare (you have free telephone support and I guess they'll go through steps similar to above).
Good luck.
