My display has gone crazy, please help!!!

Well folks, you can count me in as another victim of the "checkered/blocked" display problem. It suddenly came up just a few hours ago and I,m going crazy. Have been reading some of the posts and Apple should definitely look further on this issue since it's affecting a considerable number of users. I,m not clear if my system is covered under Apple's Extension Program. My S/N begins with W8526xxxxxxx, please help us Apple.

Basically your screen looks like an old-fashioned TV test card with blocks all over it? That happened to my imac G5 when I had only had it a short while back in 2005. I had just switched to mac and was devastated. When I rang Apple they said it was the logic board which is the most expensive part to replace apparently. I had it fixed under Applecare. I would find out if you can get it fixed under the Apple program as now it is a known fault with these models.Here is a link to the page Apple have set up about the extended repair program, it does look like your model could be one of the affected ones:

Memory gone CRAZY PLEASE help

This another question regarding my app, which has a main frame that contains Tabbedpane and have desktopPane attached inside. Within desktopPane I have multiple JInternalFrame. In each internalframe a textarea is attached for taking user input and displaying server feedback (the textarea has private classes that telnet to the server to do the input and output stuff).
I was testing my app last night and found out following problems:
1.) Memory just gone crazy! I opened several internal frames and did "cat *" on each of them just to test it out. I noticed the memory just gone crazy and the app become really slow responding. after I close the internal frames speed start getting better but memory is still not being released.
2.) I use InputStream.read() to read single byte from input stream. the return is an "int", I first convert it to a "char" and then cast it to a "string" then use the JTextArea.append("string") to append it to the textarea but it displays a little square after I press enter each time.

You can allocate extra memory to a Java program by putting something like
java -Xmx256m Myclass
That should tell you if running out of memory is really your problem.
Memory from abandoned items isn't recovered until the JVM decides to do a "garbage collection" which it doesn't usually bother with until it finds memory a bit tight.
You shouldn't cast byte input to char. In Java a character is a 16 bit UNICODE code value, and it's relationship with bytes depends on the "character encoding", by default the one native to your operating system.
If you want to read character input from a file etc. then use a Reader not an InputStream. If necessary you can "wrap" an input stream in an InputStreamReader object.
If you want to read it from the user in a Swing program then use an input field of some sort.

APPLICATIONS FOLDER HAS GONE BESERK - PLEASE HELP!

For the past few weeks, most of my apps no longer are visible in the applications folder.
The apps work; finder shows them as residing in the apps folder.
If I go to the applications folder, though, all I see are the apps with names that begin with "A", plus the CALCULATOR app.
Everything else [Quicktime, MS Office, etc.] does not appear.
However, all the applications are working, and finder shows them as being located in the apps folder.
Today, I found I cannot ADD new apps to my apps folder.
It will not accept new apps.
I am trying to install dashline 2.0 [a new app for me].
When I drag the app to the apps folder, the time bar appears and runs through the move.
However, the app never appears in the apps folder.
When I search in finder, dashline does NOT show up as being in the app folder.
If I try again, to drag the app to the apps folder, I get a prompt telling me the app is already in the apps folder.
I googled these problems but all the answers I find have to do with setting up new computers, transferring from one computer to another, or 'losing' apps from the computer altogether.
Here is the info on my computer.

Macbook Display Has No Backlight - PLEASE HELP - URGENT!

Ok, so I have a Macbook. Puchased in August '06. Display birghtness/backlight has completely gone. Display is still working, as I can see it up close, but there is no backlight/brightness to the screen. I'm thinking the inverter cable is broken, but how can I be sure? Could it be the actualy backlight? or the inverter board? I am extremely confised, but need this fixed asap.
No problems waking from sleep, as yet.

Be sure to do a P-RAM reset and SMC (power management) chip reset. See the macbook support web page for instructions.
Here's an idea:
Get a mini-DVI to VGA adapter cable, which is about $20 (US). I'll bet if you ask some friends, somebody will have a free CRT-type monitor for you. A CRT monitor is big and boxy and not hip like an LCD screen, but you can still do your homework on it. The down side is you no longer have a portable mac.
I did a Google search, and a LP133WX1-TLA1 display is about $180. I found a replacement inverter board on eBay for $22. There is a chance the main logic board has a problem and won't drive the inverter. I think the best thing to do would be to puchase an applecare contact and get the macbook repaired.
If you insist on the do-it-yourself route: Be sure to try the P-RAM and SMC reset first. If you shine a bright light on the display,you should be able to see a faint image even if the backlight and/or inverter isn't working. The easiest thing to try first is to replace the inverter. Have somebody who knows how to work with high voltage check to see if the inverter is working. The inverter puts out hundreds of volts, so don't attempt to check it yourself unless you have training. If the inverter doesn't generate output, you can replace the inverter for $22. If the inverter is OK, the fluorescent tube in the LCD panel might be blown. Some Internet sources will replace LCD panel fluorescent tubes, but I've never tried them. You could try replacing the LCD panel, but you'd prabably be better off at that point buying Applecare and sending them your ailing machine. Applecare is about $350, but the LCD is $180, and perhaps not a guaranteed fix. It is also a fair amont of work to change the display. G4 Powerbook (15 " Titanium) screen gone crazy, please help

I have a G4 Powerbook (15" titanium), and just recently the screen has been checkerboarding small rectangles on the bottom third when I boot up. It only does it sometimes and if I run any applications, the screen distortion gets worse and spreads all over the screen. There is a little box of rectangles attached to the pointer as well........
Does anyone have any tips or ideas as to what might be causing this?

Check the 350+ strong discussion thread under the titanium G4 powerbook forum. This is a problem of epidemic proportions as Ti-books hit the 3 year old mark (unfortunately as most extended waranties like mine have expired!):

Rumblings from the masses that apple should acknowledge this problem are growing (the thread detailing thee "fritzed screen" dates back to 2004) so I think we'll hear more about this as the logic board shortages get worse.

Help, my system has gone crazy!

My imac G5 running Leopard, 10.58 Processor 18 GHz, Memory 2GB has gone crazy. I cannot open ITunes. If I try to download a small file it says my memory is nearly full and I need to clear disk space. Okay I have a few songs on iTunes and 7,900 photos on iPhoto, but that is all. I try to open a document in Word and it says 'you are working without a Word work file and your memory is nearly full'. I am not receiving e-mails when I know they have been sent. What is happening?

Less than 2GB free is very dangerous, you could loose everything as it's not really free space for our use.
An 80GB drive is really too small for later versions of OSX, you need to free up at the very least another 10 to 20GB.

Well, i bought my iphone about 3 months ago and i activated it about 1 and a half month ago, because i bought it in the usa and the activated it in another country, anyways since the first day i activated my iphone it has gone crazy ican't unlock it when i have to slide it at the beginning sometimes it opens apps alone, it types alone sometimes my iphone is completly good but then it goes crazy. Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If basic troubleshooting does not resolve, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.
Be aware that the iPhone warranty is NOT International. You will need to either return to the US with the device and take it to Apple or ship it to someone you know in the US to take it to Apple.

Thanks lllaass, but I am not computer literate and do not understand exactly what it is I am supposed to do. All of my photos were stored on Microsoft Windows Live Photo Gallery. When I now access the gallery the only thing that is there are the folders with the title of the folders. The pictures that were in those folders are now gone. I can no longer access them on my IPOD either. My photo library on my IPOD is now empty.

I am going to install and Test Oracle 10g on Vista as my future client will use Just Vista and no othr OS, so there is no OTHER OS options,
I ready all the documentaiotn and release notes and also read that Oracle 10g(10.2.0.3) is certified on Vita Ultimate.
I downloaded the DB which is frm the below link:

*** It installs but it justdoesn't work properly, PLEASE HEEEEEEELP I am running out of time.

- whic means under windows>system32>driver> etc>host I added the 10.10.10.10 and cmputer name.
2. Under MMC I added cmputer local policy for local computer

Also Under "Local security setting" under "Local Policies" Under "User right Assignment" Under "Log on as a Batch job" I added the User name which was created when weload the Vista for the first time which is the Computer Admin, ALSO REALOADED THE COMPUTER WITH TH FACTORY SETTING AND AFTER THE FIST BOOT, UNLOCKED THE "ADMINISTRATOR" USER OF THE OS AND TESTED WITH THE ADMIN USER AS WELL WHICH WAS ADDED TO THIS lOG ON AS A BATCH JOB.

I just wannna CRYYY, it is getting me Crazy,

Satellite L350-170 display has gone funny pictures

Hi
i have a Satellite L350-170 but the display has gone funny pictures have started to look like negatives and colours are not the same also and there is like ghost screens underneath my current screen.
I have tried unistalling drivers and reinstalling but its just the same

Test the notebook in connection with external monitor.
Check if the same funny pictures would be visible on external monitor.
I think if the same will appear on second monitor, then the issue might be related to graphic card.
In such case the motherboard with the GPU chip should be replaced.

help, it's simply impossible. I do give you a few tips, though: If you
understand your code (i.e. if it really is YOUR code), you should be
able to realize that your minimum and maximum never get set (thus they
are both 0) and your exam 3 is set with the wrong value. SEE where
those should get set and figure out why they're not. Chances are you
are doing something to them that makes one 'if' fail or you just
erroneously assign a wrong variable!
