My display is too big, what do I do?

I reset the PRAM and booted in safe mode, but nothing works. The icons are huge. I can't seem to get the display to reset to the proper screen size. Has anyone had this issue?
I was working in Photoshop and was resizing an image display (command +) and somehow that kicked the entire display over the top. Help!

OK then you probably accidentaly turned on Zoom. Please read this article, it will show you how to turn it back off.

The display is too big for my screen. For instance I can't see the left most column of the keyboard.

Check you TV aspect ratio or zoom settings via the TV remote.

  • Display is too big, can't see the menu bar.

I have a 32" tv that i connected it to my mac pro. I see te display, but it is too big. I can't see the menu bar. I've tried changing the resolution, holding control and scrolling, and changing the display size on the tv settings. Any suggestions?

If there are no size settings on the TV that work (some TVs don't have the correct settings) see if there are Overscan or Underscan settings in the Mac's Displays system preference.

  • Display is too big

When I came in the plug on my monitor was loose and the screen was getting no power. I got the plug to power the monitor, but now the display is larger than before. Whereas a website used to fit on the screen, now it is too big and I have to scroll over to read the whole page and get the tool bar. Zoom was not activated and is set at the lowest level. How can I get the computer to go back to its compact display?

    Just out of curiosity....
Did you ever figure this out?
I am having a similar problem all of a sudden....
(My daughter played a game & she must have changed my settings somehow because everything on my computer is now huge! I really have no clue how to reset it, either....)

  • Display is too big for screen on start up

When I turn on my macbook, the disply is too big, and I can't see the right 3 inches of my screen.  When I put it to sleep and bring it back up, it correctly fits on the disply.  Any ideas why this does this, and how to correct it? It has been doing this several months now.
    -Thanks!

Ha, figured it out myself from another discussion forum finally. Thoght I'd share in case anyone else runs into this. They must have hit "Zoom" by htting the "Control" and scroll buttons at the same time..
    Resolution:
You can zoom out by holding down the Option and Command buttons on the keyboard and, while you hold them down, pressing the - key.

  • When firefox is loaded the display is too big for the screen & blocks out controls

When I load Firefox Home, the display is too large to fit into the screen making it impossible to see the controls (Toolbar and log-out cross etc) This has only just happened, everything was working perfectly until about an hour ago

Open the system menu via Alt+Space and see if you can resize that window.
If that works then close Firefox (File > Exit/Quit) to save that setting.

  • E-mail messages print font too small display font too big

I recently upgraded to OSX 10.4.9 and tried to print an e-mail message.
The message printed in microscopic sized font and I followed the suggestions on the HELP section about increasing font size.
With display font set at 24 the printed message is just barely readable. However, this is unacceptable for display purposes and actually still too small for printed copies of the message.
I connect to an Epson CX4600 printer as a network device on my Apple AirPort Extreme card.
What can I do to print acceptable copies and not have to tinker with the display font every time I want to print?
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   Printer Epson 4600

I tried all the options in Help File in Mail Printing Email Messages
Options were "keep the same apparentfont size" didn't change a thing.
Scale message to fit = result was smaller size font,
Rewrap message to fit, didn't change a thing.
I still can't print out a readable copy of the email.
This particular Email wouldn't even copy correctly into Word so that I could adjust it there, it kept getting cut off and I changing the margin tabs didn't help either.

  • Display resolution too big at startup

After updating ITunes, every time I boot the computer up, the screen display/resolution is at least twice as large as it should be. Not a problem before. It fixes itself by closing the lap top for approx 15 seconds ... or going into System Prefereces/Display and adjusting. Any suggetions to have it boot up correctly again?

Reset PRAM to set the behaviour to factory default, including the native resolution.

  • ITunes library too big - what to do?

My iTunes library is quickly approaching the 2 TB mark and filling my Time Capsule. What can I do?
Is there a way to spread an iTunes library over multiple hard drives but have iTunes treat it as one giant library still (meaning I don't have to switch between accounts or break up the library?). I have a lot of video content and want it to work seamlessly with my original Apple TV (streaming video content over WiFi) so breaking it all up is not a good option.
What is the best solution? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I assume you're not using the Time Capsule to store the library...I tried that once and while it works, sometimes the drive is so asleep that it doesn't access all the media right away and you get the exclamation points.
I'm using a Drobo firewired into a Mac Mini, myself. I store the movies/TV on the Drobo, which right now is at 6TB (expandable to 10TB at least), and has its own redundancy and drive health checking. The rest is stored on the Mac Mini and Time Machine backs that up.
I will say the best enhancement iTunes could make for folks like us is to have a default folder, but for each media type (music, movie, TV show, etc) allow you to override the default. Right now when I download a new video source, I delete the reference from the library, move the file to my Drobo, then copy it back in holding down the Option key (which overrides the auto-move when you tell it to keep your library organized).

  • AVCHD too big, what can I do?

I have a new Sony CX105 AVCHD camcorder. It shoots in MTS, so I'll hav to convert it so I can work with it (iMovie i.e) If I convert it into MOV a 46 sec movie turns into a 250 MB monster! If I were to shoot family events and vacations, let's say 2 hrs max. how do I convert to get it to fit onto a single 4.7 GB DVD. Any Ideas? Right now I'm using Voltaic.

Yea, I have a similar camera Canon HF10 that writes everything in AVCHD. With clips that under 20 minutes or its not a problem however with longer videos it is...
Unfortunately import to HDD from iMovie wont work unless u have a huge amounts of harddisk space, and i mean 150+ gigs free. Last week I shot a 1.5 hour video and even though i was able to preview it in iMovie after trying to import it (for hours and hours), i got an error saying hdd was full (i had 80gb of space free).
After lots of research the only option so far (that i found) is AVCHD videos are broken down into 1.9gb files. So you have to go into your camera and copy them manually and convert them to h264...
On my mac this took hours upon hours. However on my PC this with the "AVS4YOU" tool it was a lot and i mean a lot faster.
Anyone else have a better solution??? I would love it.

  • Apple TV Picture now too big for the 16/9 screen, wrong resolution ?

Now that I've added a new Samsung Home Theatre system to my new Samsung 46" HDTV, the Apple
TV picture is displaying way too big, cutting off about 1/2 the picture!?! The resolution seems to be set wrong ( 720 ?). The other inputs DVD and DirectTV display OK. I have the TV set for 16x9. It was working fine before I plugged the AppleTV into the new Home Theatre System. I then tried replugging the AppleTV directly into the TV's other HDMI port but the problem still remains.I can't find any way of readjusting the resolution. Any suggestions ?

Problem solved. It's a faulty HDMI port on my TV.
I have been plagued by intermittent random problems with my old Apple TV, especially where there was a blank screen but audio could be heard - solved by a restart. Then today I got the new Apple TV and it displayed as though there was overscan (actually - way more than overscan should cause now that I can see what it SHOULD look like). The final piece of the puzzle was trying to play content purchased previously on iTunes - no HDCP. Finally something pointing to the HDMI connection. I did a bit of troubleshooting - swapping cables, swapping HDMI ports and problem solved. Of the 3 HDMI ports on my TV - when the Apple TV is plugged into port 2 I get this massive overscan and HDCP doesn't work. In ports 1 and 3 it works perfectly. Thankfully the problem with the new Apple TV was consistent enough for me to easily diagnose the problem - unlikely the random nature of the issues I was having with the old Apple TV. Time for a new TV - hurrah! (it's under warranty...)

  • What do I need to upload and how big a website is too big

I just spent a few days of my life, that I will never get back, trying to upload my site (built in I web08) to godaddy using Cyberduck. I can't begin to tell you how painful it was, and how long it took. Finally one of the people at godaddy suggested I get Fetch, because my website was too large for Cyberduck to handle. I have no stake in Fetch, but I gotta say it was slick, and literally made 3 days of nothing but trouble go away, and the site got loaded. I have asked so many questions, taken so many 3am notes, that I am just confused and need an answer...when I try and reload my website, I am saving it, and publishing it and then publishing it to a folder so I can find it...is that the correct procedure, or have I added an additional step?
When I just want to change a page or 2, I should just load those pages, right? When selecting those pages from my site do I need to also select the html page as well I have been doing that, but is it the right thing to do?
Also. my web site is about 30mgs and has 107 files....is that too big for iweb to build?
www.galleryt.org is the site...if you vist you will see that I can't get all of the links to be active...they work in iweb, all have been brought to the front, but still they don't work...any other suggestions.
    Thanks

I don't quite understand what you mean by 're-load' my site? Anyway, when you have finished making alterations to your site in iWeb, then just save in iWeb and that saves your domain file. From inside iWeb all you are doing is using the publish to a folder option - if you don't have a MobileMe account, then you don't have the option to publish anywhere else. When you publish to a folder both your Site folder and separate index file will be stored in your User/Sites folder and you then use Fetch to upload your site form here. If you want to alter any pages of your site, then you need to makes these alterations from within iWeb, save and then publish to a folder and then upload.
If you make changes to a few pages, then yes, you can just upload the changed pages - upload the html pages as well as the folders that goes with them. The folders contain all the info about how the pages are displayed.
As far as the links are concerned, they all worked when I looked. If you are using the page template nav bar, just make sure that these links are not covered up by any objects or other text boxes - if they are then they will not be displayed.
If you are having problems with links, you could always re-create them, but this time using a text based navigation bar rather than the iWeb one - go to Inspector and page and then hide the nav bar and create your own using a text box or shapes.

  • The display on my screen has become too big.  I've tried adjusting the screen size and the zoom isn't set.  Can anyone help?

    I have an iMAC 7.1 running OS X  10.6.8.
The display has become too big for the screen.  I've looked at the zoom and it is turned off.  I've tried adjusting the pixel setting (currently 1920 * 1200) to no effect.
The bar at the top of the screen is elongated, and I can't see the time in the top right hand corner.
This is affecting everything I lookmat, the dock in the bottom doesn't show until I bring the mouse down (hide dock is off).
I have no idea what caused this and I can't fix it.
Does anyone have idea what the problem is and how to fix it?
ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

No wheel, it's a magic mouse.
    Tried safe start.  No difference.
The dock and the icons are off the bottom of the screen.
I I have finder open and move the cursor to the right to show the time, I lose finder / file /edit from the overhead banner.
Still no closer to solving it.

  • When doing a second "Organize Library" cuz the first was too big, will iTunes recognize what's already copied over?

I'm stuck with a large folder of music on my PC in My Music folder. And I used "Organize Library" in iTunes but it didn't copy everything over because the amount of music was too big. I've deleted the original copies of music outside of iTunes to open up more space and was wondering if I do a second "Organize Library" if it will recognize that some of the music has already been copied over.

I don't know what "restore the iPod" is
It's usually the second thing to do (after Reset) when the iPod is not working correctly.
Select the iPod in iTunes and click Restore.
See this -> Restoring iPod to factory settings
what about my main question? Can I go back to "sync all" but manually block certain albums?
No because sync all is just that.
Sycning specific playlists should work fine. And you can create more than one and sync which ones you want.
