My document size changes each time i close it

my document size change each time i close it. how can i lock in one size?

Hi K,
I never noticed that before. Mine only changes by a few bytes, unless I add a lot to the Word doc. I don't believe you can "lock it in."

  • PDF file size grows each time form is saved (with no data changes). Why?

    I have an SAP Adobe form (PDF) and we are seeing a difference in the Save behavior between when it is viewed in Adobe Reader vs. the adobe plug-in(?) for Internet Explorer.
    When the form is viewed in Internet Explorer, every time the user saves the form the file size grows (even with no data changes in the form - i.e., open the form, hit save).  This is not true if the form is opened in Adobe Reader.
    The form in question has multiple pages but the only fields directly bound to the SAP source are a handful of identifiers (e.g., order number) and a dynamic table.  It appears from our testing that the more entries in the table when the form is created, the greater the size increase each time the file is saved.  The table length is not changed after the form is first generated.
    Is there a known difference in the behavior of Adobe Reader vs. the browser plug-in which would account for this difference?  Our users have Adobe Reader X installed on their machines.

    If this is an XFA form, as opposed to an Acroform, you should ask in the LiveCycle Desiger forum or a more relevant LiveCycle forum.

  • Can I automatically generate a PDF each time I close an InDesign document?

    Hello. Is there any way that I can automatically generate a PDF each time I close an InDesign document? I’d appreciate any help with this at all. Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
    Surely with JavaScript!
    As for me, writing a little shortcut in 2 minutes, using QuicKeys [OSX or Windows]!
    What I do [here, using InDesign CS4]:
    I don't directly close the doc. I only play, e.g. here : Cmd-F7 (OSX).
    Process: the doc. is saved [1] ; export to pdf [2-3-4] ; the doc. is closed [5]

  • Why does PDF file size increase each time I "save" tagging tasks?

    Why does PDF file size increase each time I "save" tagging tasks?
    Given:
    1) I'm running Acrobat Pro 11.0.07 (this is most current version)
    2) My file size starts at 750mb and ends up 15mb when finished tagging.
    3) Only certain documents experience this increase, i.e., no visible pattern of document characteristics
    4) PDF's are not full of images...in fact, mostly <H1> <H2> <H3> <P> <Figure> alt text, ect.
    5) Occurs with text PDF's and/or fillable forms (again, does not happen to all documents...only some)
    6) File increase occurs incrementally as tagging tasks are performed; i.e., each new save increases file size a few megabytes.
    7) Occurs whether I "save" or "save as"
    8) Difficult to optimize these files without corruption
    9) I'm running Mac OS 10.9.4 (this is most current version)

    Thank you so much for responding! I've been experimenting with the SAVE AS vs. SAVE for the past few days...and you are correct. It's funny because I've been tagging files for 2 years and never noticed this. Probably b/c I use both methods depending on the tagging tasks...some are more complicated than others and should not be overwritten. In those cases I SAVE AS new file.
    I love this forum...thank you again!

    I delete an account and tell my notes not to show in the mailbox but each time I close the mail program or restart the computer the mail account comes back and the preferances reset.
    I have deleted preferances. I deleted the account using the - sign in system preferances. I make the account inactive, close mail and relaunch and it is active. I have using the email and installed a new ssd system drive. I was able to change some of the mail program settings but then it just quit letting me change and save them. When I delete it in the mail program, it asks it I want to remove it for good, I say yes.

  • How can I prevent the settings on iMessage from changing each time I sync the devices with iTunes on our iMac?

    Each time I sync an apple device (iPad, iPad mini, iPhone) with iTunes on our iMac the settings on iMessage and phone settings change. We use the same Apple ID and have different e-mail addresses and phone numbers; however, each time a device is sync'd on iTunes on our iMac, the iMessage settings and phone settings are changed so that we all each get each other's text messages and phone calls. After the device is sync'd/charged, I have to go into each device (all of them somehow update when only one is sync'ing) and re-set the settings to what we want. How can I prevent settings from being changed each time?

    Okay I've tried safe mode.  Let it run down to 98%, plugged it in, locked the screen, and waited.  A few minutes later, the screen came on showing the 100% icon at the top right, full battery icon just to the left of the time, 100% text to the left of that.
    I'm not going to do a hard reset until I have confirmation that this is not normal behavior for the phone because that's going to take hours of my time and gigabytes of data transfer to get all of my media and apps back on the phone and configured.
    After all my griping, I do have to give credit where it's due.  This phone is much more efficient than my Galaxy Nexus.  I left the S5 running in WiFi hotspot mode while on battery last night.  It still had over 50% left on the battery.  The Galaxy Nexus would be stone dead after about 4 hours.  I can live with that if I have to but I'd really rather be able to leave it on the charger at night.

  • Is it possible to set firefox to recreate the daily bookmarkbackup (json) file each time it close as opposed to once a day ?

    From what I understand, Firefox create a daily backup of it's bookmarks in a .json file the first time it closes each day. We found that if a user has already closed Firefox in the present day (and the .json bookmarkbackup file is already created for the present day), it won't add to this file the bookmarks added later in the day at futures Firefox closes...
    So if, for example, places.sqlite gets corrupted later in the day, all new bookmarks added after the first close (and creation of original daily backup) of Firefox aren't backuped...
    Is there any way to set it so that each time it closes for the current day, it regenerate the daily backup of bookmarks with the lastest bookmarked pages?
    Thanks

    Note that a JSON backup is created when you start Firefox and not when you close Firefox.
    You can make Firefox create an automatic HTML backup (bookmarks.html) when you exit Firefox if you set the browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML pref to true on the about:config page.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML
    That backup is created by default in the profile folder as bookmarks.html, but you can set the file name and path via the browser.bookmarks.file pref on the about:config page.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.bookmarks.file
    The browser.bookmarks.file pref doesn't exist by default and you need to create a new String pref with the name browser.bookmarks.file and set the value to the full path of the backup bookmarks file.
    Note: an HTML backup doesn't preserve tags and annotations, so you lose those if you need to import the HTML backup.

  • Why does iCloud appear each time I close Mail?

    Why is it that when I close out of Mail and go back into Mail, the iCloud inbox is the first to appear?  So, basically each time I close the Mail program on my iPhone 6 Plus and go back to it, regardless if new mail has arrived in the other three accounts I have set up, I am in theiCloud account and have to press the back button at the top of the screen to go into the account where the mail has arrived. It's sort of annoying to have to go back to the account where the mail has arrived. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    I don't think I understand your question...
    I just received an e-mail(your reply), and Mail was totally closed. I pressed the Mail icon with the little 1 in the corner and instead of it going to list of accounts or the "mailboxes" screen, instead it went directly into my iCloud account. My friend's iPhone 6 goes directly into mailboxes when he presses the Mail button. Mine does not.

  • The App Tabs are a great function but mine vanish each time I close Firefox. Why? Really just makes them act just like a regular tab then. Mac OS w/ Firefox 5.0.1

    The App Tabs are a great function but mine vanish each time I close Firefox. Why? Really just makes them act just like a regular tab then.

    Make sure that you use Firefox > Quit Firefox to close the window with the App Tabs and the Firefox application.<br />
    If you only close the window and not Firefox then you need to use History > Recently Closed Windows.

  • Firefox crashes or just freezes and each time I close it, I have to type all the websites again - it does not memorize them as the previous version did?

    The latest version of Firefox looks great, but some new problems began appearing:
    -sometimes it crashes or just freezes and nothing can be done, it just says Not Responding
    -each time I close all the tabs I always put - Save option so that next time all the tabs are there, but with the new version I never get all the tabs from the previous session, but only the blank or home page?

    Restart your computer and try again.
    Double check your AppleMenu()>System Preferences>Trackpad

  • Firefox closes unexpectedly and there seems to be no correlation between each time it closes.

    Firefox has been closing a lot lately. Normally it wouldn't bother me much. I don't recall what I was doing each time, but I do know that it has happened only when I let it sit on a single page for a while. This time I was writing up a very long reply to something in the Gaia Online forums. I also had Facebook and a Wikia site open in different tabs. I'm displeased because I lost what I was working on, and Firefox completely froze and I was unable to copy my work. Finally it closed and I had to start it up again. There was no problem bringing it back up.
    I am unable to supply Crash IDs, because I have never been asked to do this. Nothing comes up. It just closes. That's it.
    I'm thinking it could be because Firefox is a complete resource hog. My CPU usage consistently goes up and down from 86-100%. I disabled Java, as I read somewhere that this may help. It hasn't. Updating Flash is out of the question, because I have frequently attempted this, yet the update never appears to work with Firefox, but it does with Internet Explorer (which I don't use because it's so slow).
    I'm quite frustrated. Firefox was working perfectly for the first few months I used it. I've ran scans, and there appears to be no malware or the like. I run SuperAntiSpyware on my computer, as it was able to get rid of Vundo when nothing else I tried would (I used AVG for a while).

    Hello Eiden.
    First of all, and although possibly not related to your problem, I will remind you that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment has been discontinued and is no longer supported. Furthermore, it has known bugs and security problems. I urge you to update to the latest version of Firefox, for maximum stability, performance, security and usability. You can get it for free, as always, at [http://www.getfirefox.com getfirefox.com].
    As for your problem... Well... This kind of issues are, unfortunately, more common and the we'd like. Thankfully, 99% of the cases are very easy to solve. However, you do need to diagnose what your exact problem is. Do this:
    #run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe-mode] to disable all extensions, themes and plugins. If this fixes your issues, be them with RAM or CPU usage, then you know it's a problem with plugins, themes or extensions. Proceed to number 2. If safe-mode doesn't fix the issues, then read bellow, after this list;
    #update all extensions, themes and plugins in your Firefox. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #disable all extensions, themes and plugins in your Firefox (not running safe-mode). Being certain that, as in safe-mode, the problems you're having have gone away, enable one plugin at a time. You should be certain that you WANT that plugin to be enabled, so keep your overall number of plugins as low as possible. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic plugin, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all plugins (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all.
    #enable one extension at a time. Again, be certain that you WANT that extension to be enabled, so keep your overall number of extensions as low as possible. Also, try the theme you want to have installed so see if that is what's causing the problem. When you encounter the problems, you know you've found a problematic extension/theme, so disable it for good. Keep enabling all your extensions (except problematic ones) until you've gone through them all;
    #you're done! You've fixed your problems with problematic add-ons. If you want to keep using those problematic add-ons, please contant their author for support.
    Ok, if disabling all extensions and plugins through safe-mode didn't work to bring Firefox's CPU and RAM usage to good levels, then you have different issue. The most likely scenario is that you have a third party software running on your computer that is messing with Firefox. Do as follows:
    #try reinstalling Firefox. No data will be lost. You can get the latest version for free at [http://www.getfirefox.com/ getfirefox.com]. If that doesn't fix the problem, proceed;
    #do a virus/malware check on your computer. If this doesn't fix it, proceed;
    #disable all software running in the background that you don't want to have running in the background (in windows, this is done by pressing WINDOWS+R in your keyboard, typing "msconfig" (without the commas) and pressing enter. Now, under the "Startup" tab, you can uncheck the software you don't want, and reboot your system for changes to take effect. If you're unsure of what software you want running, ask someone with more experience). If this doesn't fix your issues with Firefox, proceed;
    #check your firewall/antivirus/security suite for enabled functions/features that you don't want and/or may be conflicting with Firefox. You'll find that these features are most likely tied to Internet Security features, such as link scanners or URL checkers and the like. If you're not sure they are conflicting with Firefox, simply try to disable them to see whether or not that's true. As long as you don't browse the web with your antivirus completely off and your firewall completely turned off, there should be no problems. If this doesn't solve the issues, proceed to the following number;
    #check your operating system security options, mainly advanced options that are not configured by default. While it's very unlikely that this may be the cause of the problem (after all, it's the last item on the list), it's remotely possible. If this doesn't work, proceed to the following point;
    #update your modem/router software. There have been some reports that some modem/router software may cause Firefox and other browsers to loose performance and/or stability. If updating doesn't fix your issue, try other versions of the software, if possible. If you need support with this, contact your modem/router manufacturer. If this doesn't help, proceed;
    #clean up your OS registry, using appropriate software. Make sure you've followed my instructions correctly, but if this all doesn't work, [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles create a new Firefox profile] (this can be temporary, of course) and see if the issues persist. Report here the results, so we can't help you further.

  • How do I set the screen zoom, so that it doesnt change each time I open Firefox. Because I see the webpages in smaller print, and I want them larger , without having to re zoom each time I open Firefox.

    I need to know how to set the zoom option under "View" Tab, shere I dont have to re zoom each time I open Firefox. I have a wide screen monitor and generally, when viewing webpages, the web content on any page is confined to center of the page, and I was wondering if there was anyway to permanently set the zoom preferences without having to change them each time i open a webpage.
    IE 8 and 9 has a feature to set the magnification and i set mine to 150% which works perfectly for me. I wonder if Firefox has a similar feature.

    Thanks a lot. I downloaded the Default FullZoom Level add-on. My problem is now a history. thanks a million

  • My history disappears each time I close Firefox - how do I stop this from happening?

    Each time I log out of Firefox when I come back my history is clear. I use my history quite a bit to return to sites and don't want to keep losing it. What do I have to do to stop this from happening?

    In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
    *do not clear the Browsing History
    *Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/remove-recent-browsing-search-and-download-history
    Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
    Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.
    You can check for problems with the <b>places.sqlite</b> database file in the Firefox profile folder.

  • Firefox 34 never remembers passwords for sites, have to log-in to everything after each time I close browser

    Was using Opera for a while, but really seems to be crashing alot lately so back to Firefox again for the 1st time in years (using whatever latest version is)
    Seems no matter what options I check or uncheck in the settings, every single time I close Firefox it logs me out of all sites (FB, YT, email, Soundcloud, etc.) Been extremely annoying......I even took the time to try typing every site I wanted in the exceptions list for cookies, which did nothing at all....For the hell of it I tried the always remember history option with everything possible checked & still nothing...
    Would appreciate any help, been driving me insane & sick of wasting my time re-entering passwords all day long
    Thanks

    There are many ways that cookies might get cleared, including some Firefox features, Firefox add-ons, and some external privacy/utility software that sweeps up between sessions.
    Within Firefox, you would want to double-check:
    (1) Not using automatic private browsing
    "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Privacy
    This dialog should show either: "Firefox will: Remember history" or "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history". If it shows "Firefox will: Never remember history" then change to custom and uncheck the box for automatic private browsing.
    (2) Allowing persistent cookies
    "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Privacy
    With the dialog set to "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history", check that the cookie setting is:
    "Keep until: they expire"
    If this is set to "Keep until: I close Firefox" then you would need to create exceptions for sites you want to be able to set persistent cookies (and then clear existing cookies so they get set again with the correct expiration dates).
    (3) Not clearing cookies at shutdown
    "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Privacy
    With the dialog set to "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history", check that either:
    * "Clear history when Firefox closes" is not checked, or
    * When you click the "Settings" button next to "Clear history when Firefox closes", the checkbox for Cookies is not checked
    (4) Not using extensions that clear cookies
    You can review your extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+a
    * "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
    In the left column, click Extensions.
    Does all of that check out?
