Mountain lion stopped downloading after 53mb, just shows "53.25 MB of 4.34 GB - Calculating..." in purchases in the app store
tried pausing and starting again as well as restarting the computer and the app store, when you restart the computer app starts downloading from the beginning but stops again in the same place, does not download any further than before :/

i downloaded the mountain lion and now most of my applications are not working saying that i to knew of software work that to run
We need more info. Did you upgrade from Snow Leopard? Are all applications updated? What applications don't work? Maybe these application are PowerPC based apps and not Intel because Apple stopped supporting PowerPC in Lion and this has continued to Mountain Lion. This would give you an error stating that the Application is PowerPC and isn't supported by this OS.

Disable anti virus software and try turning off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Firewall.

Ever since i downloaded OSX Mountain Lion, Express VPN no longer works properly for me. Even though it says I am connected, webpages refuse to load. However, connection speed is fine when its turned off. I cannot go on many websites without the VPN. My current location is Shanghai, China. OSX Mountain was installed this morning and everything worked fine until then. Is Express VPN not supported? What do i need to do in order to get it working again on my Macbook Pro (early 2011). I want to be able to go on websites such as Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, ect...

I am having the same issue listed above on my new Mac Mini i just bought, I also contacted Express VPN support and got the same instructions with exception of the command to run in the utilities terminal. I tried the steps listed, and both commands (posted here, and sent to me directly by Express VPN support), and still unable to connect on my Mac Mini running OS X 10.8.2, but I am able to connect on my iPad and my MacBook which is running Mac OS X 10.6.8. Usually Express VPN is spot on with their customer support, but this is taking longer to get resolved. Here is the steps sent to me
Try doing the following to see if the problem gets resolved:

(should still be the same for Lion) and then add the following DNS servers: 8.8.8.8 & 208.67.222.220. After adding the DNS servers, please do the following steps as well:
Note: If you're connecting to your ISP via a PPPoE connection, then set the DNS servers on the PPPoE connection itself and then restart your computer for the DNS settings to take effect.
1. Click on Applications
2. Click on Utilities
3. Click on Terminal
4. Type the following command (without the quotes): "sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder"
5. Press enter and then try reconnecting to the VPN.
If you're still unable to connect, please send us in the latest log files.

I participated in getting the free download of Mountain Lion for new Mac owners. It took me three days to finally get a code to do it and when I tried downloading it, the estimated time was 74 days 17 hours. Now an error occurred. What do I do? I am very frustrated and just want the great software to download in a resonalbe time!
Take your Mac to a location with a fast, relaible Internet connection that will be all yours during the duration of the download.
If you want to complain, PLEASE call Apple and do so.
Internet only downloads of OS X is completely stupid, it assumes everyone has reliable Internet everywhere and /or no data caps. -

Java is no longer included in Mac OS X by default. If you want Java, you will have to install it.
However, note that you should think twice before installing Java for such a trivial need as looking at stock market quotes. There are other ways to get that information that don't involve Java, and using Java in your web browser is a HUGE security risk right now. Java has been vulnerable to attack almost constantly for the last year, and has become a very popular, frequently used method for getting malware installed via "drive-by downloads." You really, truly don't want to be using it. See:

I am trying to download the mountain lion software which I purchased and downloaded successfully in my air book, in to my desktop and I get an error 403 message saying that an server error ocurred during downloading
Implies that the DL is hosed and necessitating DLing it again.

What's installed on your computer? If you don't have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later then you cannot get Lion. If you already have Lion installed then you cannot re-download from the App Store until you have reinstalled Snow Leopard.

I have redeemed my code to download the Mountain Lion. I left it for download overnight. Now I am unable to find the download and its not installed. And the code says that its already redeemed so I cannot download the Mountain Lion again. Please help.

I have downloaded OS Mountain Lion which was successful but going inot apps it still appears as requiring downloading but when I press to do this i am informed that download has been completed and so to cancel. How or why does this icon remain in the apps purchases and how should i get rid of it?
It stays in your purchased apps list because you bought it from the MAS. The most likely reason it offers to be "downloaded" (it's not that it needs to be downloaded, it is that is can be downloaded) is because you installed the OS X upgrade, which deletes the installer from the HDD. This is normal behavior.

The download of Mountain lion failed, when I resumed it, I got "An error as occurred" and the button label went blank. when pushing the button, nothing happens. The purchase item when to a new category in the Purchases page in the Mac App Store, it is titled "Other Purchases" and is at the top of the Purchases page, probably due to the fact that this was a redemption from the UpToDate mode for a new MacBook. The "Other Purchases" category remains on the page when I sign out of the App Store.
Launch the App Store.
From the App Store menu bar (top of your screen) click Check for Unfinished Downloads

I downloaded OSX Mountain Lion last night and now I continue to get a error message that says "There was a problem connecting to the server. URLs with the type 'file' are not supported." What does this mean?

I downloaded the mountain lion from the app store and it downloaded. When i installed the mountain lion it said that the hd disk is broken and cannot be repaired, and the other disk doesnt have enough space! HELP and i cannot return to my desktop with the old sofware so i cant use my computer normaly
This error means that your hard drive is badly corrupt and cannot be repaired by Disk Utility. Since you say you don't have backups, this is very bad news. You may already have lost data irrevocably.
First order of business needs to be backing up whatever you can, but this may be difficult to do if the machine won't start up any more. See step 1 of the following post:

You are not specific with your problem or errors but one thing that always throws people off is as follows:
When entering you're login name you must use the entire login with carrier name such as [email protected] The field defults to just your name but not the carrier name.
