My 'downloads' box isn't deleting a particular file.

My 'downloads' box doesn't seem to clear a particular file. All other files seem to delete but this particular file doesn't go. I tried deleting the temp file, resetting the computer, disk clean up etc but to no avail. When I open up the 'downloads' box, the file is there and it says 'paused' but it doesn't resume either when i try and when I right-click on it, the only option I get is 'cancel' (which doesn't seem to work), 'go to download page', 'copy download link', and 'select all'. Even when I select the file, the 'clear list' button is inactive. Please help!!!

That is very weird... You may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
Whenever you have a problem with Firefox, whatever it is, you should make sure it's not coming from one of your installed add-ons, be it an extension, a theme or a plugin. To do that easily and cleanly, run Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode safe mode] and select ''Disable all add-ons''. If the problem disappears, you know it's from an add-on. Disable them all in normal mode, and enable them one at a time until you find the source of the problem. See [http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes this article] for information about troubleshooting extensions and theme. You can troubleshoot plugins the same way.

Finder doesn't allow me to delete 2 particular files

Sometime ago I backed up the contents of an old iBook to my NAS. I have since transferred those files to my new iMac.
The problem: when I try to delete two of those files/folders from the NAS, this happens:

Finder asks for my admin credentials and spits the following error:
But as you can see bellow the folder isn't locked and the Sharing and Permissions state that I can only read:

In this case Finder does one of two things: either deletes it and the file comes back the next second OR spits the following error:
So, how can I delete these files/folders?

I managed to get rid of them by turning off the "Achive option" in the NAS.

Smart Folders aren't really folders at all, but really just pointers to Mails that meet certain criteria, if they're empty now there's a setting elsewhere that is likely deleting or removing those Mail after a certain time.
Right click or Control+click on one of those Smart boxes & choose Edit Smart Mailbox, check the criteria out, it may contain something Like If... Last viewed was 30 days or less, in which case they would disappear after not being viewed for 30 days even though you did nothing, the eMails would still be where they were originally though.

Unicode filename in download box

I need to upload/download files with Unicode names from a file hosting service. Every thing is going fine except one thing - internet explorer.
The problem is that IE doesn't recognize the file name i'm sending as Unicode - showing me an encoded string instead in the download box. The page displays the file name okay however the download box doesn't. The problem happens only if the unicode file name has no extension. With an ascii extension, the file displays fine. With a unicode extension, the name part appears correct but then the extension itself is garbled. Firefox works like a charm.
What I'm basically doing, is that I check for the browser. If IE, I encode the filename and set the content-disposition header and stuff. If firefox, do it the firefox way (mark the filename field in the content-disposition with a * just before the equal sign). I then send the file data into a servlet output stream.
As a temporary solution, I'm appending a .NoExtension extension to extention-less filenames. This has to do for now, unless any body here has a better idea...

File Download box appears despite content being text/html .....

I am supporting a set of web pages which display data to the user based on XML transformed by a set of style sheets. Currently when the user does something and fires the doPost method we get the "File Download" box appear with the message "Some files can harm your computer .................... ". The downloaded file is just the HTML used to display info to the user (with the appropriate embedded stuff from the stylesheet)
I was under the impression that this dialogue box only appears when the content type is not understood by the browser. However, the content type is text/html ... so i am a bit stumped.
can anyone suggest other ways in which this message can appear?

Just on the off chance anyone else ever has this problem and fins this post ( the problem was solved a long time and i forgot to update the post).
The application in question attempts to log into a database via OC4J. The connection information in the data-sources.xml file was incorrect (specifically the database listener port). This was generating some bizarre exception which was propogated up and resulted in the above behaviour. I suspect that you could get the same effect thogh for many other reasons, so if you are having this problem i wouldnt get too hung up on this as a possible cause,.

Delete an uploaded file (in custom table) from a report

I have a report of uploaded files (the files are saved in my own table, not in APEX_APPLICATION_FILES) - I'd like to add a delete link to each file in my report so that the user can delete a particular file.
How do I go about doing this?

It is now working. You missed couple of things:
1. javascript in the header
2. you were pointing to the page 1 and your process was on the page 2
3. you passed the value to a non existing item on the page 3
4. the request which would fire the delete process was triggered by a wrong request

Deleted or corrupted file

Every time I try to sync my ipod it tells me that it cannot install a song that has been on my ipod for weeks. when I try to re-import the song it tells me it cannot because the file or directory is corrupted. when i try to delete the song out of my itunes folder so i can reinstall it, it tells me it cannot be deleted because the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. How in the world do I fix this!?????? It is one of my favorite songs!

Since writing my original post I decided to send the following message to Mac App Store Customer Support:
"I have had to download this file from the app store at least ten (10) times. I try to install the file but I keep getting the message "The software could not be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading."
I then delete the same file and try another attempt at a different time of day. Most recently following Apple Support's advice I contacted my ISP to clear the file cache but they could only clear my browser cache. I have deleted my com.apple.appstore. folder which contains app store cache, also com.apple.appstore.plist and tried again to no avail. I have wasted hours doing all this and I now want my money back please. You can keep this software update until you release it on disk like Snow Leopard which installed like a dream. I'm very disappointed with Apple that they expect the purchaser to do all the work trying to diagnose their software installation issue. Nice idea but poorly executed has been my experience."

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

Can you please be a bit more clear as to how you intend to delete the rows from your ALV? By the way deleting rows from an ALV is no different from deleting rows from a normal table. Suppose you have enabled selection property in ALV & then select multiple rows and click up on a button to delete the rows then below would be the coding: (Also keep in mind that you would have to maintain the Selection property of the context node that you are binding to your ALV to 0..n)

I suppose there is a possibility that you have security software than may be blocking quarantining or even deleting the downloaded file.
Normally if Firefox says in the download manager that the file is downloaded then it is on your computer, and if you right click you should get the option to open the folder the er the downloaded file is in.

Hi Anandh,
Kevin is right you can use the workspace and use a grab (and then abort) to "delete" the instance.
It will no longer be running and will be viewed as aborted.
You can create a custom UI by using the PAPI or PAPI-WS depending on you preferences.
However if I'm not mistaken there is a third option that is the deletion of instances from the database.
I believe there is a PL/SQL procedure that can be run to delete all instances from the database. However this isn't limited to a single instances..
---( Can someone confirm this.. I'm not sure if this is for BPM or just for SOA Suite?) ---

After im asked to download download box is empty

after i'm asked to download something the download box comes up but there isn't anything in the download box,it's empty. there's no file or run option

When trying to update Adobe Flash the download box pops up but it never lists the Adobe update file. Meanwhile a prompt at the bottom of my screen pops up and says "download complete"

no matter how I try to update the download never shows up in the downloads box. A box pops up at the bottom of my screen and says "all downloads finished" but it never shows up in my downloads list so I am never given the option to "run".
I was able to find it manually in the download list but I have no idea why it will not pull up correctly when doing an auto update.

AA9 is not compatible with Reader. It is probably best to uninstall Reader and then repair AA9 (Help>Repair). Also, when you install you should generally be logged in as the administrator and have anti-virus disabled.
For the updates, it may be best to simply go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows, download the updates, and install them in order. A new system may be the problem, particularly if it is Win8 and 64 bit, you did not say. For 64-bit systems, the updates are critical (I think AA9 works on 64-bit systems after the updates). For AA X, it required 10.1 for 64-bits.
Also, if you updated OFFICE, then expect to only print to the Adobe PDF printer. AA9 does not work with PDF Maker on the newer versions of OFFICE.
If you uninstall AA9 for some reason (I don't recommend except as a last resort), then be sure to remove the Acrobat folder and run the cleaner (http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html) before a reboot and reinstall.

I was just wondering if the newer verison of FF has the older download box that we all love?

I have FF v21, which has the download box that is loved and easy to use. Especially when i want to pause and resume downloads. I want to update to the latest FF, but i don't like the newer download box. I was wondering what version has the box before it switches over and if the older download box has been bought back?
So many people miss that box and it was one of the best features from FF. If it hasn't been bought back, what is taking so long?
I really want to update to latest FF, but am not looking forward to the download box changing, if it still isn't back.

The Downloads folder in the Library that is used by the new Downloads Manager is present since Firefox 8 (2011), so even in Firefox 23 both are present and managed.
The currently used Download Manager uses the Library and the places.sqlite database file to store the downloads list and treats downloads the same as other history items and adds an annotation (places table: moz_annos) to identify these items as downloads.
The previously used Downloads Manager stored the downloads in the downloads.sqlite file.
Firefox manages downloads in the Downloads folder in the Library (History > Show All History)
*Downloads are treated as history items: clearing history removes included download items and vice versa.
*When downloads are in progress you see an animated download button on the Navigation Toolbar showing an estimate of the remaining time
*The Download button gets a blue highlight once all download are finished to make you aware that new downloads are available.
*Pause and Resume can be found in the right-click context menu of an item in the drop-down list and in the Library.
You can open the about:downloads page in a tab or window for easy access.
In Private Browsing mode the about:downloads page will be used and not the Library Downloads Manager.
