  • IPod touch no longer playing on Sony dream machine after updating iOS

Can not get my daughters iPod touch 4th gen to play on Sony dream machine after updating the iOS to 6.1.3. Looking for suggestions on how to fix this?!

First go to Sony's support site. and see if there is a firmware update or other information for your dock.
    Sometimes this works:
    Reset the dock
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
Sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility and y will hae to wait for an update to fix the problem

  • CL75iP Dream Machine Issues

    Hi,
I have some concerns with the CL75iP Dream Machine with v1.07 firmware installed.
    1) I set my alarm to sound a personal song of mine from the internal 1GB memory built into the unit. It worked the first few mornings but this morning while the song was playing (3 mins into it) the song began to skip and seconds later the unit reset itself. If I wasn't already awake I would have been late for work. THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE that needs to be resolved. If everything else was buggy but the alarm work 100% flawlessly I would be ok with this, because its primary function is the ALARM. PLEASE RESOLVE these inconsistancies, because a flawed ALARM FUNCTION is a USELESS ALARM CLOCK. It would be like buying a expensive sports car but you can't drive it because it has no wheels, expensive and useless product.
    2) I would like to set the unit in "Night Mode" and have it stay in "Night Mode" until I manually adjust the brightness. Currently when set to "Night Mode" and the alarm goes off (which the brightness during the alarm sounding is okay with me), but when I hit the "off" button to turn the alarm off, the unit SHOULD go back to "Night Mode" (since i manually selected "Night Mode" as my desired setting). Currently I find myself constantly fussing with the brightness. IF I SELECT NIGHT MODE AS MY DESIRED SETTING IT SHOULD STAY IN NIGHT MODE UNTIL MANUALLY CHANGED BY THE USER. This is simple logic and simple programming, please add to firmware v1.08.
I REALLY like this product but these issues tempt me to return it. If you can get this right I would rave about this potentially amazing product!
    Thanks!
    Adam

When the sleep timer option is set and the set time has elapsed, the screen will get dark (fade out). When night mode is set and the clock radio is not used, it will switch to sleep mode 5 seconds later. If your current song is having issues, please test with another song. if you are experiencing issues with your ICFCL75IP since the Firmware update please contact tech support for further options.

  • Adf development dream machine

i'm currently new to adf development and do everything on one machine... jdeveloper, integrated ws and dbms.
my p4, xp machine with 2gigs of memory is.... well, not so fast. in fact, although i'm sure there is a bunch of 11g dbms configuration i might be able to do, at present i can barely run that puppy.
could someone illuminate me on the pc specs of my next adf development dream machine? something that they have working quite nicely at an affordable price? all i could find was a mention of ssd on another thread...
    thanks again.

    HI,
I think there would not be a dream machine at all because working with Jdeveloper is very memory-cosuming and really it depends on what are you doing with that.
remember that re-deploying(run) an application with jdeveloper so many time would be really memory-consuming.
by the way here our systems is as below and we are facing any problem except when we re-run application so many time. remember to use the last version of Jdeveloper becasue the newes release 11.2 and 11.3 have better memory
    management thatn previous releases
    RAM 3 gig
    OS xp
    CPU intel core2duo
also read the blow blog it has very good tips for tuning the jdeveloper 11g

Try plugging it up to your computer and launching iTunes and either resetting it to factory settings or resetting to last sync. Hopefully it just noticing it's plugged up to iTunes will fix it. This happened to my friend once and all she had to do was plug it into her computer and that fixed it.

  • I will be buying the new IMac 27 inch in December. Would like input on the best configuration for photographic and possibly video processing-dream machine!

I will be buying an IMac 27 inch in December. What is the best configuration for photo and possibly video processing.Does one need a Mac Pro? Dream machine!

Just to explain what I just wrote to Laundry Bleach:
Why is there no iDVD on my new Mac?
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3673
    UPDATE & ADDENDUM:
But even though you can still buy iLife 11 that includes iDVD 7 from Amazon, Apple now make it difficult to install:
Poster jhb21939 posted this in another thread:
“when I attempted to load iDVD into a new iMac. A notice came up on the screen stating that the 'Authorisation Licence' had expired on 25 March this year (2012).
I contacted the Apple support team and eventually, I was told that the Licence had been withdrawn and could no longer be used.”
In other words Apple are now so adamant that we don’t use iDVD that they have tried to make it impossible to install.
In response, Old Toad posted this solution:
“You can still use it one all of your Macs.  If you get an invalid certificate message just set your Mac's clock to sometime before early 2011 and run the installer.  After you're done reset the time back to the correct time.” He added this comment:
“It began after iDVD and iWeb were discontued and they were dropped from the Apple Store. All I can think of is the certificate was set to expire after a certain time period after the intitial iLife disc was released.
I've been able to use the installer even without setting back the date.  I just clicked on the Continue button and it would work as expected.  For some it would not continue unless the date was set back.”
The latest anorexic iMacs just announced do not even include a CD drive! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of DVDs - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?

  • Slow Dream Machine Quadro 5600/SAS Drives et (Be careful what you wish for)

Well I received my dream machine yesterday. I went ALL out– 8 Core 3.2ghz, Quadro 5600, 32GB Ram (Crucial), Apple Raid Card with four 300GB 15,000 rpm SAS drives configured in a RAID 0. I upgraded from a less exotic 3.0Ghz 8 core with a X1900 card, 16GB, and no Raid. This machine was solely bought with speeding Motion up as much as possible because I primarily do video/ motion graphics work.
The result? I believe slower performance. I can barely muster 5-8fps with a reasonably simple Motion animation. I have not done back to back timings but it certainly does NOT have the massive improvement I was expecting. I have found Bare Feats.com had done some testing (too late for me) and they found the issues with the new Nvidia video cards and I think this is where my bottleneck is as well. I went with the 5600 for it's massive 1.5gb of vram to drive two 30" monitors and the work station grade graphics (prioritizing quality over performance). I have also been getting on screen video artifacts intermittently to boot.
I would gladly sent it back and go with my old one, but alas it was obviously a custom configuration so that's not a option. My only hope is **much** improved video drivers to finally unlock the huge potential the card has.
    Any other suggestions?

It could be other things too. When Macworld did the benchmark test's for the new Mac Pro 2.8 the
slow down for it was the hard drive they put a hard drive in from last years Mac Pro and the speed
went up 12 or 15% so hang in there.

  • Dream Machine for CS6 with Blackmagic Intensity Pro

    Good Day.
Im about to move from CS5.5 to CS6, and along with the upgrade of software, I've decided that a hardware upgrade is due too.
I'm looking to put together an entirely new PC as my old one (i3 with 4gb ram) will be inherited by the animator.
We shoot the majority of our footage on Canon DSLR's and my old machine really struggled with realtime playback and editing of the footage (was continuously rendering at less-than-optimum sequence settings for the chance to see something playing back in realtime)
I'd like to know what the specs would be of a machine that would be capable of working with this footage (usually graded with Colorista). And not just the bare essentials, something that would be able to handle this with ease, as often our edits include multiple layers as well as image sequences.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Warm Regards,
    Gareth H. Graham

  • Brand new iPod touch 4th gen will not sit on dock of Sony Dream Machine

    model ICF -C1iPMK2
I even wasted money on the three pack of inserts to ensure my touch was resting properly
I have no idea why it won't rest down on the dock - it is like it's two different sizes of 30 pin connectors? is anyone else having this problem? I don't want to be too forceful with it for fear of breaking something irreplaceable

Im having the same problems with the latest ipod touch not sitting into a bose portable sounddock.
Sure, the portable sounddock has an aux port in the back which I can use once I find an audio cable with male ends on both sides.
After reading this thread, I took an x-acto knife and tried to remove/thin the piece of silver plastic at the back of the ipod touch. didnt help much until I took the same knife and tried to thin the grey plastic innard of the sounddock connector. That worked.
so basically, i removed a thin bit of grey plastic from the inside of the male connector on the sounddock.
    was worth a try.
I've also emailed Bose support. They're generally very helpful with these things and the last time when I upgraded from an ipod mini to ipod touch, I called them and they sent me (for free) a set of new dock inserts for the ipod touch.

  • Sony Dream Machine (ICF-CS15iP) does not play music from iPhone 4, still charges phone.

Hello, so basically the systems seem to reconize each other. The phone charges and the music bar disapperes indicating a connection. But no sound will happen. The speakers work fine with an iPod Nano and a 4s but fail on mine. I checked my iPhone 4 on a different dock and it worked fine. Any suggestions? Cheers.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi Adam,
Try the steps mentioned below to resolve the issue:
    1. Disconnect iPhone from Docking System, restart both the System and the iPhone and then reconnect iPhone to the System.
    2. If this didn't helps, try resetting both the units. You can reset the Docking System by pressing RESET at base using pin pointed object like paper clip.
    3. Also, try updating iPhone and to latest version and check if that helps.
NOTE: If iPhone has the case or cover, the device may not be set correctly. Remove the case or cover from the iPhone and set the device again.

  • Lost Newbie, help needed for building dream machine

    Hello everyone!
I was wondering if you could tell me what you think about this setup for premiere, after effects and speed grade use:
    http://pcpartpicker.com/user/trundrumbalind/saved/#savedbuild_167634
I know it's probably an overkill, but what do you guys think?

First off, I would not go for that particular discrete sound card: It is not sufficiently better in quality than onboard audio to justify the $58 cost. What's more, that card is not a true X-Fi card at all; in fact, it is basically a descendant of the old software-based Ensoniq AudioPCI, which (mis)uses the CPU for most audio tasks (there is a controller chip on that card, but that chip is very similar to the codec-based onboard audio).
Second, the RAM and motherboard are both overkill. In fact, you might not be able to run all four sticks of RAM at anywhere near its DDR3-2133 speed. Intel (and JEDEC) officially limit the maximum memory speed with a fully-populated memory controller to only DDR3-1333 speed. You can run that memory at the DDR3-2133 speed using an XMP profile - but then, you're limited to running only two sticks of RAM total at that speed. Besides, that quad-channel kit is really meant for LGA 2011 platforms, not LGA 1155 platforms. And the motherboard actually costs as much money as or more money than many good X79 LGA 2011 motherboards. Remember, the LGA 1155 platform has only two memory controller channels, not four. The official JEDEC spec allows the implementation of up to four ranks per memory controller channel - albeit at only up to DDR3-1333 speed. With DDR3-1600 and higher-speed RAM as well as all RAM running using XMP profiles, JEDEC officially limits such operation to only two ranks per channel (one double-sided DIMM, such as in all 8GB DIMMs, already eats up two ranks per slot).
In other words, that setup is a waste of money at that price point. Why spend $2600+ on a limited LGA 1155 build when you could have gotten a superior-performing LGA 2011 build with an i7-3930K for the same price or slightly less? As a matter of fact, I would personally not spend more than about $2000 for LGA 1155.

  • Never owned a Mac, thinking of buying a Mac Pro, could use some advice...

    Hey guys,
I know this was a lot to read, but I sincerely hope someone will take the time to answer my questions:
As the title of my post implies I've never owned a Mac in my life. I've always built my own desktops and usually gone to HP or Dell for my laptops. I'm approaching that time again where my custom-built desktop is looking outdated and I'm getting the upgrade itch. I'm looking at all the parts I need to order to build a computer and I can't help but think I'm older now with a full-time job and a one year old daughter in the house. Do I really want to go through the hassle of building a desktop from scratch again? Not really. So I started evaluating things a bit. As I get older I’m really just getting sick and tired of Microsoft’s antics (Vista was a huge disappointment for me) so I decided this could be the year for me to take the Mac plunge.
Now I’m an IT guy, so I have a pretty atypical setup at home. I’m currently running both Windows and Linux on all my computers. Rather than dual boot or use virtualization software I have a pretty intricate system in which I use a product called Acronis Trueimage to experiment with operating systems. What I do is perform a a clean install on an operating system, tweak it as needed for security and to use resources on my LAN than back up the customized OS install to a server a an image file. I have pre-built images for XP, Vista, Ubuntu and OpenSuSE that I can roll out to one of my machines in an average of 15 minutes whenever I get the urge to switch operating systems. I also serve all my data off a NAS box, so since data and OS are kept separate on the network I don’t have to worry about erasing something when I swap between Linux and Windows (as loading an image literally destroys the previous OS install).
So you can see I’m pretty highly specialized. I even have things down to the point to where I have custom images for specific purposes. For instance I have one XP image customized for development, one XP image customized for gaming, etc. Naturally if I got the Mac Pro I’d like to have the freedom to create a similar set of custom OS deployment images (Windows, Linux and OSX) for it as well. In researching the Mac Pro I have some concerns my current system might not work if I go that route. Am I correct in assuming that in order to run an alternative operating system on a Mac I’ll have to run boot camp or something like it? Or upon unboxing my Mac and tweaking Leopard will I be able to use disk imaging software to make a backup image of my preinstalled Leopard hard drive and then do a clean install of Windows XP or Ubuntu and set it up to function like a PC? I guess I’m asking if it’s possible (now that Macs are Intel-based) to run Windows or Linux exclusively on the Mac hardware?
Also I have some concerns about the proprietary nature of the Mac platform. From what I can gather in my research it seems the hardware is pretty locked in. One area that has me really concerned is gaming. I pretty much use Ubuntu exclusively at home for productivity and web surfing. However I still like to load that XP image every now and then to play some games on the LAN with my buddies. I’m not a fan of virtualizing for gaming because of the obvious performance hit you take, so I’d have to be able to run Windows XP free and clear. Also I checked Nvidia’s site and I see no OSX drivers listed there for their cards. Under the Windows platform they are always releasing driver updates to squeeze more game performance out of your card. What if I want to upgrade my video card? How do drivers work on OSX? Does Apple just integrate drivers for just a few specific video cards into the OS? Will I be stuck only able to pick from a handful of video cards approved by Apple?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer advice!
    Message was edited by: ZeusABJ

    Hi Zeus
I may be able to answer some of your questions. And sorry in advance if this sounds like yet another of those "religious conversion" stories
I'm a software developer/architect, mostly doing Microsoft .NET/C#/Web Services coding. I'd been a loyal Microsoft guy since I started on the original IBM PC back in the 80's. Like a lot of people (or so it seems) I just got fed up with Microsoft's high-handed and self-important ways. More importantly, the company always seemed to be lagging behind technically. Looking at beta versions of Vista did not bode well for the future - it just seemed awful. When Vista came out it it was the last straw - I just could not get enthusiastic about this bloated, slow, mess of an operating system. I really hated it. Still do. Even with a top-spec machine, Vista didn't run in the snappy, responsive way it I thought it should. Nothing seemed well thought out.. yuck!
Then, by chance, I was staying for a few days with somebody who had a Mac. Now, for years and years I not even considered Macs as remotely serious machines. My only experience of them was in the late 80's when somebody at work had one. He took delight in pushing a floppy disc into the machine so that it would respond "Ah, it's so big!". Great, just a toy. Not for serious programming work. So, encountering Mac OS X Tiger on my friend's iMac was something of a shock. It was so responsive, clean and elegant. When you turned it on it only took about 30 seconds or so for the thing to be ready for use, etc, etc.
Long story short, I bought an iMac, then a newer, bigger, faster iMac, then a MacBook Pro and now I have a Mac Pro. I still have to work with Windows to do my .NET-related day job. But 95% of the time I work on the Mac using various VMWare virtual machines. I can switch between Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP in a few seconds and still be working in a Mac environment. And the performance of running Windows inside VMWare is even better than on my dedicated top-spec Windows laptop! I have a selection of virtual machines to choose from and, because these virtual machines are just files, I can back them up, revert to saved copies, etc. I've tried Bootcamp but it's much less convenient and performance inside the virtual machines is never an issue (although I don't do any gaming). So, you could keep virtual machines on your NAS box or local Mac hard drive.
With regard to graphics drives, etc. I've never had any problems whatever in this respect. For example, when I installed Windows XP on VMWare it automatically recognised all my hardware (including some obscure audio interfaces, USB-based MIDI interfaces, etc.) and made it available. I must admit that when I was new to the Mac I expected to have driver issues, but never have had... So, my guess is that you'll be able to run all your Windows and Linux distros on the Mac without too many problems.
You mention Apple's hardware as being "locked-in". I don't think that's the case. Certainly the consumer Mac models like the iMac can't be upgraded (by you or me) internally, expect for memory. The Mac Pro though is very easy to upgrade - though there may be some limitations with regard graphics cards.
Re your questions about graphics card drivers. Yes, these come with OS X in just the same as as with Windows. Because I've also used the card that comes "with the box" this has not been an issue for me. However, unless you get a Mac Pro you can't swap-in your existing graphics card. And even then I think you may find restrictions. However, other, more knowledgeable Mac users on this forum may have other thoughts.
Overall though, the experience of using the Mac in terms of software is very much the reverse of Windows - the OS is very open and well documented. It really is an IT person's dream machine - so much to fiddle around with (particularly if you know anything about Unix!). Unlike Microsoft who charge a FORTUNE for their development tools, Apple give them to you for free. And very good they are too!
Finally, one bit of advice. If you are considering buying a new Mac, join the Apple Developer Connection scheme as a Select member. It'll cost you around $400 to join but they give you a hardware discount for Apple-store purchased items that will save you a ton of $$$'s - absolutely definitely worth doing.
Hope this helps (and good luck)!
    Russ
