I'm glad I'm not the only one. I notice certain things move a lot faster but there are a few things I could do without:
1) I HATE TWITTER! Moto, I know this is you, not Google! Droid needs to find a way to allow me to remove Twitter. This waste of space needs to get off my phone!
2) The text messaging slowness! Loading a text message takes forever. I installed the 2.2 update and NEVER have I experienced such slowness. I also hate the fact that when I get a new text message and I click to go into the message through the "Notifications" drop down, it takes me to the main text window. NO! I want to go to that specific message, you jerk!
3) Customization! I was really hoping they were going to open up the settings a little more. I'd like to be able to control how the power distributes, new/more backgrounds options, new/more sounds, and even different option designs for the main menu (sort of what Windows will allow with the start menu). Hopefully some day this will happen.
4) The Desktop Size! I was REALLY hoping the desktop space would open up like Droid X and Droid 2 does. I mean I was REALLY excited about having that extra space, but instead we got an extra column on each side. What kind of room is that?
Overall, I'm not thrilled with 2.2 so far. I miss 2.1 and how responsive it was. The message delays are SO frustrating, especially when we wait so patiently for 2.2 to be released. We were told it would make us want to stick with our Droid, but instead it seems they're pushing us towards Droid X or Droid 2. I guess that's why the Verizon store near me doesn't sell Droid accessories anymore.

I know someone else mentioend you can hide apps,but just so you know you cannot remove/uninstall preloaded apps. All android phones are like this with preloaded apps. I can't even uninstall preloaded apps on my T-mobile phone.
For texting other people mentioned to use another messaging app like HandCentSMS. HandCentSMS seems to be a smash hit. Everyone likes it. There is also ChompSMS,but I think HandCentSMS is more popular.
As for the power distributing download the app called Power Manager Full. That will give you more setting to adjust battery life. For backgrounds there is an app called Backgounds by stylem media. There are tons of backgrounds you can choose there. I downloaded a nice beach background. There is also this background app called WorldTour. You can set your background to a live web cam city. Like you can set it to New York, Time Square. For sounds...if your are talking about ringtones check out the app called RingDroid. That is fantastic!

BI Content FI-GL (New) reporting is useless! Feel free to comment...

Dear all,
After setting up and testing standard BI Content for FI-GL (New), I am coming to the conclusion that the delivered reporting component is useless!
1. Financial Statement Versions cannot be mapped onto transaction figures because the latter are always given in terms of the Operational Chart of Accounts (CoA) whereas the former are mostly defined according to the CoA of the Group accounts or Local (i.e. country) CoAs. This is natural since FSV is primarily used for (corporate/local) reporting purposes in SAP.
The examples given in the literature are misleading since they always depicts the sample 'INT' CoA.
Therefore, one has to enhance the function module
RS_BCT_FIGL_DATA_GET
to derive the relevant "reporting" CoA from transaction figures ("reporting", by contrast with "operational", corresponding to FSV definitions).
2. The content queries - once corrected; cf. note 1121942 - defined on the virtual InfoProvider
0FIGL_V10
are quite obsolete; for they do not use the FSV: they use range of G/L Accounts!!!
This is really annoying when you think that BI Content will enable you to show something to your client in a very straightforward way.

Sure Laurent - however in your environment it seems that the blueprint has not highlighted the problems
I would have been screaming from the rafters if I known I had a local CoA that dominated reporting
In this case I might have looked at the group COA and consolidated in Outlooksoft and left the co code COAs to handle local FSV reporting (rather than use co code specifics)
Alternatively I would have set up a totals table in GLX (FI-SL) in sub ECC 6 or an alternate ledger in ECC6 to handle the alternative reporting - then new cube and copy the virtual cube function module code (and change the hard coded cube) to do the FSV reporting correctly
Oy course there are many ways to skin a cat (and many other ways to do this) - the problem I guess you are having is that you have an existing implementation where these considerations where not blueprinted or even brought up

Feel free to distribute the libraries

A while back you folks pointed out to us that the license language in the top of the library files effectively prohibited distribution.
You officially have permission to re-distribute the libraries. We will post new lib files with the correct language; however, that will take some time as there have been updates and a Q/A cycle needs to be run against them.
In the mean time, please feel free to take the language at the bottom of this post, and replace the commented licensing language at the top of the library files with it.

After a lot of projects in Pr since the CS6 version, here are my wish list for next updates. Feel free to complete it !
NEW FUNCTIONS FOR PR
Copy / Paste audio track FX (audio track mix view)
Ability to rearrange order of audio track FX
Missing plugin information : when a plugin or an FX is missing to open a project, it's impossible to know which clip is concerned and where to find it.
Ability to search and effect : I'd like to have the ability to search all the clips that are using "warp stabiliser" for example in my timeline / project.
Ability to remove 1 type of FX in a selection of clips. Actually we can only remove all the FX or not
Ability to temporary disable all FX / transformations on timeline / specified track. Like AE with his "fx" button on layer.
Change the standard label color names with STANDARD names (red, green, yellow). I know it's possible to do it but please do it by default.
Ability to change the color background of the source / program monitor to something not black. When a black or near black video is played, we can't simply find the border of this video.
NEW FUNCTIONS FOR MEDIA ENCODER
Ability to add text in the file name in regard of the encoding format. If I encode a timeline named "FILM" in my H.264 preset I'd like AME to automatically name the file "FILM_H264_1080p25" or whatever.
BUG FIX
Fix the timecode bug on frame holds. When frame hold is applied to a clip, the timecode displayed (program overlay) continues running. Worse : if this frame hold is trimmed from the beginning or the end, the time code shift... Making a conformation impossible !!
Fix the speed effect on clip. When a 400% speed effect is applied to a clip, it sometimes do 399.xx % speed effects. It's confirmed by precomp to an AE comp. AE is also showing a wrong value...
Lumetri FX is dissapering when a clip is precomp to an AE comp from Pr.
Missing font warning : when a font is missing, Pr does not tell which clip is concerned and simply replace with another font !

I like reading about free software licenses, and their history and why many were created. It's no suprise than other than a very few licenses, the reasons for the creation of a new license is usally a political statement, and those who "prefer" a license are usually making a subtle political statement.
The recent brouhaha with Linus vs GPLv3 just re-enforces the idea. Linus made a statement about software licenses not making political choices for programmers, and that the GPLv3 is actually a sort of political manifesto of the FSF. While I agree with some of his points, I really think he missed one important thing. The FSF has been political from day one, everything they are doing now would have been pretty damn predictable from the first day RMS heard about DRM, and the first day someone asked 'what about this patent?' on an FSF mailing list.
If Linus+Devs didn't like the motives behind the FSF, they should have written or created another licence. The FSF has been upfront about their motivations since day one. People who disagree with the FSF (and Stallman), find it hard to swallow the fact that if you don't like the philosophy behind the FSF and the GPL - you are at the very least, shunned within their community. Maybe in today's culture of inclusion and political correctness, it's hard for people to believe that anyone would create a community that actively goes about pissing off people who disagree with them.

Practical considerations aside, I think GPL users tend to like the philosophy of the Free Software Movement, of which Stallman, Morgan, and Lessig are the crusading leaders. They seem to understand the culture, the history, and agree with the FSF (and by extension, Stallman's) musings on Freedom, esp that of the freedoms for end users.
People who advocate other "OSS" licenses, esp the BSD license seem to consider developers freedoms the thing of critical importance. (I think) they see themselves as benevolent dictators, the intellensia, the thinking elite who have a moral right to make the important decisions for us uneducated end-user lamers.
It's not a new debate. The creation of the US constitution took place under similar circumstances, and the end result was the creation of a bicameral legislative structure which preserved the integrity of the well educated (the senate), and the so called hicks and cretons (which the house of representatives was created for). It's too bad the analogy stops there. It was an elegant solution to the same problem(s), even if the result today is not quite what was expected.
I find this whole debate on the GPLv3 fascinating. You can begin to see where a developer really stands politically, even Linus who has made it a point to be not-political as possible. I think that it has become apparent exactly where important figures in the FLOSS community stand on these important issues They seem to be either interested in protecting their own freedom to do what they want, or interested in in protecting end users from developers doing so called *bad things* like forcing DRM on them.
I dont mean to start a flamewar, but I've been thinking about licenses for the past few days and that thread got me writing and performing a braindump. Maybe something I said up there made sense...
Anyway, that's my muse for today. Any thoughts?

This is exactly what the GPL does in fact, both old and new. Here are some excerpts....

In reference to the draft, the proposed changes don't ban DRM for example, but it does prevent the distribution of free software which would remove end-user freedoms (like the ability to hack on your own code). The whole DRM debate is easily summed up as a great example of limiting free software developers rights to infringe on the so called freedoms of end users.

Builds on Master slides
I think this was a BIG feature request in the past...
From page 152 of the Keynote 3 manual:
"You can add object builds to a master slide so that build effects appear on every slide you create using that master. For example, if you plan to create a number of slides with bulleted text, and you want each slide to build in bullet by bullet, create a master slide with the build you want. Then use that master to create the rest of your slides. "

Well the developers are aware of it in the sense that these cutout shapes can be displayed and customized (in terms of changing the fill color, etc). It seems it's just the path editing code that can't handle these cutout shapes.
Making cutout and composite shapes requires path math, where one path can be added or subtracted from another. Path math is available in beefier apps such as Inkscape or Illustrator, but I doubt we will see it in Keynote anytime soon. They'll want to keep the new drawing tool fairly simple and elegant.
My biggest issue is converting bitmaped images into vector paths, which are often generated as composite shapes. Adjusting the points along the path will still require a trip back to Inkscape.
I hope I don't sound overly negative. Being able to edit a path in the first place is a huge step forward. In spite of these missing features, I am quite impressed with the new drawing tools in iWork! Something we've all been desperately wanting.

I have a question that you might be able to answer based on your experience as CO consultants.
Raw Materials that are used to produce each brand of Product are assigned to the specific branded profit centers.
Beginnig n 2009, our company is due to bring on another production facility onto SAP which will cause raw materials tobe shared by many different brands.
Can you please explain, based on your experience, what the impact will be, if a quite a few raw materials are shared between brands. ?
How do I go about analyzizng the impact?
What soultion would you suggest?

I don't think I understood the solution. Maybe I have not drafted my question properly.
Lets say we have 2 brands A and B. Which is subsquently produced by using Raw Materials A1& X1(A) and B1 & Z1(B). there are 2 profit centers. RM A1 & X1 are assigned to branded profit center A(PCA) and B1 & Z1 are assigned to branded Profit center B(PCB).
Now lets say we will start producing producing C which will consume A1, X1, B1 & Z1. the branded profit center for C in Profit Center C.
Now comes the Probs. Raw Material A1 & X1 are already assigned to PCA and B1 & X1 are assigned to PCB.

Hello Grant, I'm concerned that it might have slipped your mind that you were going to give me your final diagnosis ("Hello, Before I give you my final diagnosis, I want to ask you one question; what hard drive did you put into your powerbook? ...... Be sure to check and see if the hard disk is compatible with OpenFirmware.")
In response I posted that the drive is an 80GB Hitachi Travelstar 5K100 (13G84) which according to Hitachi (and others) is compatible with my 12" PBG4.
I'm desperately waiting to hear your promised diagnosis. I've been refreshing the forum regularly over the past few days, in the hope you might have posted a reply. Please respond soon.
My original post was as follows:
Corrupted original drive, unable to format new drive - hardware failure?
My hard drive became unreadable (although the drive could be seen in Disk Utility, but that was all). I have installed a new hard drive but could not format it in Disk Utility (again it could be seen, but using either Erase or Partition resulted the format process starting but not progressing).
I have successfully formatted the new drive by connecting externally via a USB adaptor to another Mac (although initially Disk Utility thought there was a problem with the drive, we did eventually manage to partition it into two and write a test folder to each.).
I also took the opportunity to look at the old drive. The applications and OS folders could be seen, but not the data. The drive could not be mounted. Norton SystemWorks indicated that there was a serious error but was unable to rectify. It looks to me as if though the disk is physically OK but that the disk has somehow become corrupt.
After reinstalling the new partitioned disk drive back into my PB I was able to again see the drive using Disk Utility, but the partitions were not shown. Trying to re-partition produced the same results as earlier - a hung partitioning process in the early stages.
Clearly, something is awry elsewhere within the PB, which has caused the original disk to corrupt. This same problem causes failure to see the partitions on the formatted new drive, and the inability to format (Erase or Partition) a drive.
Have you come across this or similar problems before?

Q2- Updating iTunes should not change/delete your library. However, thisngs sometimes happen. You should have the computer files backed up
Q3- When you update an iOS, the first step is making a backup of the iPod. However, the backup does not include the apps themselves or music since those are always synced to the iPod from your iTunes library. You need to use a third-party program to copy the non-iTunes purchased music to your computer. That is the way it is.

Types of Disaster
Scenario A: If Hyperion database or data is deleted?
Solution: perform a full restore (data + outline)
Scenario B: When actual data is mistakenly sent to Budget, or vice versa.
Solution: perform a data only restore
Scenario C: If members are deleted from the outline? There are issues with the outline?
Solution: perform a full restore (data + outline); because the accuracy of the data is calculated based on the members in the outline.

Hi,
You have not mentioned transaction logging. If you want to be able to restore every transaction between the last backup and a disaster, you will need to enable transaction logging.
Lookup the TRANSACTIONLOGLOCATION command in the documentation for more info.
Also you may have missed this document as it is not in the Essbase section of the EPM documentation portal.

When Nokia N900 will free ? Like others phone

We are lot of people to wait for the new version of Ovi Maps .
It' s not just because , the N900 is a recently phone .

The UK version was released late last year Oct/Nov.. I've owned one since..
The UK firmware is a problem.. Its really very irritating.. unlike other Nokia phones in which the UK ends up waiting months for new firmware to be released, the UK N900 firmware is not only released, but in use!! I'm running it after I upgraded my phone using the built in app manager.. The irritating thing is they haven't made the firmware available for download from the firmware website!!! GRRRRRRRR Feel free to comment on this bug:

Just to clarify.. Nokia allow the UK firmware to be installed using NSU (which requires windows) or using the app manager on the phone without using a PC.. You can't however, use the flasher tool to update to the latest UK firmware because it is not available on tablets-dev.nokia.com... unlike every other region which is already on there. .very irritating that Nokia are forgetting to include the UK.. particularly since a BUG was raised and they did add the UK once before back in Dec
If you import a US N900 you won't be covered by the warranty which is only valid inside the US.. So, you could buy one and flash the generic / euro firmware onto it.. it will probably void the warranty since it is the wrong firmware, but you wouldn't have one anyway!
For everyone else, I don't recommend using the alternative firmware, there just isn't any point, they're all so similar and non of them are branded or locked any how! It is a fairly pointless exercise if you want to waste your warranty!
