My dv5 laptop has an internal "typing" noise/multiple security issues

I'm not sure if this is a problem, but since I've had all kinds of issues with this particular model (the first Pavilion we were sent by HP had to be returned because the engineers finally deemed it unfixable), I thought I'd ask. I'm a little nervous about a sound that makes me think of little gremlins inside the unit typing away. It's not constant, but I'm wondering if that's normal and what the noise is.
Another problem is that periodically I'll get a message about the computer having "multiple security issues". I then do a virus scan, which turns out fine, so I don't know what it means.

The Intel chipset issue is not at all related for your Notebook. Its quite unfortunate you are facing this problem as I would say its a coincidence that even your second hard drive went bad so soon.
Time for you to RMA the new hard drive.

On my HP Pavilion dv5 laptop MY 2ND HP LAPTOP..NEVER AGAIN.I went to log in two weeks ago and it has a blue hallo screen saying trying to load files...I put out the word and was told it was NOT the hard drive (this time) I got a virus, this person got me back my Windows 7 , however, I do not see my HP icons, or tool bar or any info AT ALL ABOUT HP, How do I download all of my HP tools and software, such as my WEBCAM????? Then error indicates that the primary battery (the one you can remove and replace) has a hardware failure. You should run Battery Check in HP Support Assistant.

HP dv5 laptop charger is overheating (150 deg F)

My dv5 laptop charger gets to 150 deg F while charging the battery.
(1) If the battery is at all discharged, then the charger will get to 150 deg F
(2) If the battery is fully charged, then the charger will not get hot.
It appears to me that the small charger (65W) is not able to provide enough power to charge the battery. I believe a higher powered (95W) charger would result in no issues. Interestingly, HP has a 95W charger available.
Has anyone tried using a different charger?

Hi, thank you for your reply. However, I had already found the page you have linked me to, and used that to diagnose that the code the laptop is flashing is code 1. (The caps/num lock is flashing once, long pause, once, long pause, so code 1 as I understand the document)
This is why I bought a new processor and replaced the old one yesterday, but unfortunately it has not solved my laptops problem. It is still refusing to start and giving me a blank screen with leds flashing the same error code (single flash, long pause, repeat) which is why I posted on here for help.
I really have no idea what else to try, my bf was also wondering if perhaps a fault with the motherboard could also cause this error code to flash up, perhaps tricking the hp diagnostics tool into thinking the cpu is broken when in fact its the mobo?

HP dv5 laptop battery

Alright... I have an HP dv5 laptop. I've had it for just under two years, and in the last month I have had my AC adapter crap out, and I replaced it with a generic cord, that worked fine for about two weeks. Now, though, my laptop won't charge. The AC adapter is plugged in, but the generic doesn't have a light on it. My laptop isn't showing it's normal light around the power port, and the front light doesn't show it's charging either.
I don't know if it's the AC adapter, the battery, or something more serious. I've looked around, and many of you seem to have the same problem, usually the adapter, the battery, etc. but I'm wondering if it's an internal problem. Can anyone help me? I'm desperate for a solution, and use my computer for school.

This is what we normally get if its a generic type of ac adapter. Although purchasing another (hp branded)ac adapter is not wise, its the only way to test if its the ac adapter itself or the pin connector inside. How many watts is the oem adapter?

Check your Sound System Preferences pane
If you are still having issues after you have confirmed the proper version of Mac OS X is installed, make sure the computer is set to play sound from the right source.
Remove any external audio devices and cables from the USB, FireWire, or 3.5 mm audio ports.
Open System Preferences from the Apple () menu, the Dock, or from the Applications folder on your hard drive.
Open the Sound pane and the Output tab, then select Internal Speakers as in this image:
If Internal Speakers is not an option proceed to step 4. For Mac Pro computers, proceed to step 5.
If Internal Speakers is present but not selected, select it and test again.
If the Output volume slider is low or the Mute box is selected, raise the volume slider or deselect the Mute box and test again.
If the issue continues through these steps and Internal Speakers remains the selected option proceed to step 5.
If the Internal Speakers option does not appear in the Output tab and your computer is not a Mac Pro, check that Digital Out is present as in the image below:
Confirm again that all external audio devices and cables have been removed.
Check to see if a red light is lit in the line-out port. If so, your Apple computer may need service.
If you do not see a red light, proceed to step 5.
If the issues persist, contact Apple support for further troubleshooting assistance.

Your content will only be where you put it. It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
You can transfer itunes purchases from your iphone: File>Device>Transfer purchases.
You can import your pics taken with the iphone as you would with any digital camera.
You can e-mail the other pics to yourself, they will never be of the original quality.
You can out a unique contact and calendar entry on the computer. You should get the option to merge the data when you sync.

Will Installing more RAM improve performance, IF laptop has "available memory" not being used?

My laptop has 2x 1GB of RAM.
Right now, and usually, The Physical Memory shown in Task Manager, shows that there is "available memory" (currently it's 500megs worth). (And "system cache" says 300megs.)
There is also, right now, 2.5GB of page filing being used.
If I were to replace the 2GB of RAM with 4GB (of the same Mhz), would there be a noticable increase in performance?

A matched set of DDR2 ram will perform a lot faster one memory not matched. Its required for the double data rate to work. Hence 2+2 is the max you'd need/want in a 32bit machine. Windows 7 was built for large memory footprints. XP was built to run just barely in 64MB but really needed a min of 128MB to support a network connection and printing. It was never enable to truely go a whole lot further than a few machines built capable of 1GB. There was even a bug which was patch causing problems if a !GB or more was available. Just because it can see it does not mean it actually uses it !! The kernal by default is swapped in/out of ram even in larger memory systems. Why, it was is not aware of the extra memory and does not change its behavour from a 512MB machine.
As for the 1333Mhz ram the timing may be faster than the other memory used. Hence it flow the data faster on the bus. Fewer delays in various cycles including the RAS/CAS etc but thats all under the hood so to speak.
