My dvd burner cannot perform lead out

hi everyone....
i attached my DVD burner (41N5629) from my x61 to my desktop PC running win XP SP3, using nero 8, at first the burning process work fine until nero perform the lead out, when an error message would appear. I ve tried different brand of 4.7 Gg of DVD-R, run the burning speed at 2x and still the same result... could someone help me out.....

Slow Data DVD Burning, Cannot enable dma mode, takes 20 mins to burn 700mb

so yea, i got a brand new comp. a dv7t-2200. it should burn a dvd as fast as my moms 400$ acre. but nope. so far hp has sent me a new dvd drive, no fix. from doing research i should enable the dma mode in the device manager under the ap-something controller, but there is no primary or 2ndary controller. there is only Intel(R) ICH9M-E/M SATA ACHI Controller thats all. can someone help here? this is really annoying. and im using windows explorer to burn the file to dvd. there just movies but they should burn in about 4 mins compaired to 20. is there any way to enable dma some how or to fix this problem? please let me know ne help would be great

I have the same problem, plus i can assert that EVEN the usb burner il slow and the system seems slowed itself (like as having dma disabled).

DVD Burner Software Performance

Hello. I am new to the Mac (and I absolutely love an OS that actually works) and I had a question about how well Roxio Toast or Popcorn will work on my iBook. I know it will not be as fast as a dual G5, but will I get reasonable performance making back up copies of my legally obtained DVDs, or is my system not powerful enough to make trying to do this worth it.

There is a new toast8 that has all the same features as Popcorn, That will automaticly read and compress to fit on a 4.7g Disc...Popcorn allready has this feature.. Cheers...Don

Matsihita dvd ram cannot perform action

When I use windows vista and 7 my matsihita dvd-ram uj880as dvd writer stops working. ı can see it on my computer but it won't open nor oparate. I push the button its light flashes but nothing happens. it behaves as if there is no drive. I open it by using a thin stick but when I push it back place again no operation. if I restart my computer it won't work again but If I shut off computer completely and restart again with the power button it is ok.All these things happens sometimes and I don't know when and how. if I want to do something with my dvd writer I push the button and try to open it but it doen't operate. When I completely shut off my pc and restart it after a while it works, I can read or write cds-dvds.

DVD burner (UJ-825) does not recognize blank media - alignment error

when inserting (tried several) blank DVD into my iMac DVD burner, it spits it out after a few seconds ...
error message in the logs
Jul 4 04:43:46 Bazounga kernel[0]: disk2: alignment error.
is there anyway I could re-calibrate the head of the DVD burner or is could the problem be coming from somewhere else.
N.B.: home burned DVDs cannot be read anymore (same behaviour)
When inserting a blank CD it recognises it but trying to burn a "burnable folder" is fails with error message 0x8002006E)

But commercial CD's and DVD can be read after some "hesitation noise"

Normally this error message is caused by incorrect Format or some of the cheaper incompatible Brands of Media. I suggest you use this.

I also suggest you use DVD-R Media.
it is the most recognized all around.
Be sure when you buy that your optical drive will burn at the speed it was designed to use.
Many of the higher speed media like 16X will not work on older computers.
They will give you error messages

I suggest you find Maxell 16X DVD-R media in the individual Jewel Cases and read the packaging and you will see that it will burn at 1X,2X,4X,8X,and 16X this media will work with just about anything in the way of computers.

DVD Burning Freezes @ writing the lead out !

Has anyone experienced this? I burn disc all the time with no problem i have used all types of media, Apple disc are the best. but now it freeze at the lead out in DVDSP, Can any one help?

I can't help, but want to add my thoughts: mine used to work fine, now, when I get to the end, I get error messages; I've tried both native burning to the G5 and Toast. Since this is your thread, I'm going to post a separate one, so as not to detract from those who may know your specific difficulty, but boy they sound alike and I wanted to just say -- it's seems to be not exactly an uncommon problem. These are my error messages, I'm curious if they are the same as yours:

Suddenly the computer stoped reading DVDs and the only time I can read a CD is if I restart. Quite often when I insert a CD it gets stuck and I cannot get it out until I restart and it shows up on the desktop where I can then eject it.
I have checked and double checked the finder prefs and all looks normal showing a check mark on CDs,DVDs etc. (the ones I want to show up on the desktop)
I have reset the PEAM, repaired permissions with both the disk utility on the computer and the disk utility when I start up in the Recovery Disk. I did notice that sometimes the permission repeat the same correction several times before it moves on, and sometimes it doesn’t. I have Windows installed on a partition but I keep it unmounted until it is needed for my wife’s work. The dock seems to be just fine and all the apps seems to run just fine. When I insert a photo CD iPhoto does not open but when I insert a music CD iTunes does open.
Also, most every time I open iPhoto it takes a long time(sometimes as long as 2 minutes) for it to load.
Sometimes my Mail (Mail 5.3) does not post new mail but most of the time it does.
Once and a while it seems like the computer slows way down but then it seems ok ten minutes later.
All of these ‘things’ seemed to have happen suddenly and I have not downloaded anything from the internet in some time.
Of course the warranty and extended warranty are both no longer in effect having had this computer for more than three years.
I am running Java and Adobe Player because some of the sites I go to a lot require both.

I believe that insufficient RAM may be the source of some of your problems. If you have a RAM of somewhere 4 to 8GB, you will experience smoother computing. 3GB doesn't seem right, so you might want to learn more by going to this site:

I don't know what know what's happening with your optical drive, but it seems you use your drive quite a bit. In that case, look into a lens cleaner for your machine. It's inexpensive, works quite well.

How can I Burn a Simple DVD with Chapters and Menus out of My Home Videos.

I created an iMovie (unsig iMovie 10.0.2) of my daughter's volleyball season. I inserted markers separating each game day, hoping these would create chapters in my DVD. Then I did some research about DVD burning apps and finally downloaded BURN. With Burn I created a DVD, but this DVD did not have chapters and also did not have a customizable menu. The whole movie ended up as one 2 hour long chapter.
I have hundresd of family vacation on a hard drive stored and would like to start making iMovies of them to put on DVD for easy watching and forbackup storing.
What is a simple way I can burn my iMovie with chapters onto a DVD?
My macbook pro did not come with iDVD so I dont have it.

MY source is HD i beleive. I shot videos with an iPad Mini.
I ventured into this because I offered this DVD to several team parents, so they are waiting for me to give them the DVD. While I was making it, I added subtitles, showing the game dates, game scores and stats of each player, so it came out really nice. However, not to concern about quality, i have burt the video in a dual layer dvd in SD. I dont have a blue ray burner nor media.
This made me want to do the same with my family vacations vieeos, whic now are a bunch of files in a hard drive, sort them by vacation and add titles like lications to actualy be abel to watch them on a dvd someday.
I have apple tv in the family room, but do not use to watch these videos, will look into that. However, I would still want to make the DVD's.
It seems odd how this, basic feature, has been dropped. I guess apple does not want us to use any more discs.
Still hoping I can do this, if not, I will have to gie away the DVDs with the 2 hour long video in a single chapter.

Cannot install WinDVD for my DVD burner.

I just got a new Lenovo 43N3264 DVD burner but I was unable to install the InterVideo WinDVD software on my Toshiba Netbook NB505. There was an error message: This is not a valid IBM system. Setup will now abort. . . I thought an external DVD drive would work with any other make of PC or laptop. Please help.

If you are trying to install the Win DVD setup file which came with your lenovo on your Toshiba it won't work out since it is specifically bundled with the Lenovo (It may be one of the license restrictions)

There's a difference between a data DVD, and a DVD-Video. I believe you made a data DVD, which can't be played in a video player. The Burn feature of the Finder can't author a DVD-V, just data discs.
I assume you made a Project, and put clips from your Event Library into the Project. But then, how did you output your Project, using the SHARE menu?
When I pull down iMovie '11s SHARE menu, "iDVD..." is one of the options. It's the job of iDVD to make the menu that appears when you insert a DVD into your player (that says the title, and chapters, and extras, etc.). You need software that will made a DVD-V disc. Lacking that, you might be able to go to Share/Export Movie... or Share/Export using QuickTime... to get your video into a format that software like Roxio's Toast could burn.

Cannot Render prior to DVD Burn and much latency when editing.

The "usual" advice if you can't directly write to DVD is to create a folder and use different software to write to the DVD (see below)
BUT... you get no errors, yet you can't even create a folder... which is VERY odd
A couple ideas...
1- post a screen shot of your output settings
2- are you able to export (share) ANY kind of output file... such as a new DV AVI file?
Even though you do not receive any error messages, a "long shot" idea

How do I find out if my DVD burner is compatable???

I would like to buy iDVD 6 but the description says"Burning DVDs requires an Apple SuperDrive or compatible third-party DVD burner". How do I find out if my DVD burner (OWC Mercury Firewire/USB2 D109 DVD+/-RW) is compatable??? It shows up as a Pioneer in iDVD3 and is not supported. I don't want to buy iLife 06 and find out I cant use it with my burner.

The Pioneer 109 should work. My Pioneer 107D and 108
work fine; and the 108 is recognized as DL.
You should really upgrade to Tiger and 10.4.4 in
particular before installing iLife '06. Several new
features don't install on Panther. Ask my PowerBook.
I forgot to mention that I want to but my videos from my digital camcorder on to DVD. I currently can copy data and photos to DVD, no problem.

Backup & Copy substitute .. DVD burner is out of order

Pesky Marty back with kindergaten questions. I do most of my backup through my DVD burner and it is back-talking to me in a very noisy way.
Till I can get to CompUSA, can somene help me use another backup method?
I have 2 ext harddrives but forgot how to get the material there. My Scanner puts the scans in "the file" or in "Photoshop" or "Paint" etc but I don't see them there or anywhere else like "My Scans" .. Uh Which way did they go ?? Colin, Yes, PSE3 and Organizer. I go through that LONG backing up in Organizer and then it doesn't do a backup. I have some important, non replaceable pictures and don't want to press my luck. One crash 'did me in' enough. I thought I could just say SAVE and put as the destinatin, an external hard drive. I have lots of internal hard drive MartyL
