My DVD's in iCloud?

Like many I have collected physical DVD's over 20 years.  I bought them, I own them.  How or where can I store my collection of DVD's so that I can access them via AppleTV OR store them in/on some sort of electronic media/device.  Some may have digital copies licenses, but many don't.  I just want to put them some place (electronically) rather than on a dusty bookshelf.
Thank you

Can't be done. The latest release of iTunes will let you (with some restrictions by location and/or copyright holder) download on demand previously purchased movies as well as purchased TV shows, music, books & apps. However there is no movie equivalent to the iTunes Match service for music so you only have access to your store purchased/redeemed(?) movies. I suppose it is just possible that it may come in time, though I'd rank it unlikely.

Can I upload my DVD collection into iCloud much like I did with my CD collection?

    Hi,
To add to what Jim said, he is exactly right that there is no way to upload movies to iCloud, that is for music only. However, there are a few third-party programs, Flixster being one of the most popular, that enable you to pay a per-movie fee to upload your movies to what they call Ultraviolet, which you can access from computers and mobile devices. Might be worth checking out anyway.

  • HT4847 Can I save 6.5GB of video/film (its actually a fitness dvd) onto my iCloud?

I have this quite large set of downloaded video and I cannot get it to save onto iPad (as it is too large -I have 16GB iPad 2) and I was wondering/ hoping there was a way to save it on my iCloud (where i have bought additional storage) and then watch it using iPad, rather than laptop (which takes a long time to load up!!!)
Any help would be great as my plan was to buy keynote and then make 12 presentations each with one video!!!
    Help!

Well that's quite depressing, but I appreciate you letting me know so quickly!!
Any ideas how I could do this, other than buying a bigger iPad!!? I'm being told Microsoft SkyDrive might work and if i download the app? Possibility do you think?
    Thanks again!

  • Confused about iCloud...

Does iCloud automatically store my music for me or do I need to but iTunes match?  I went to iCloud after I made mine and I couldnt find my music anywhere.  I don't need iTunes match, because I don't have anything besides my Macbook and my iPod that would require it.  I just want my music backed up somewhere.

You should ALWAYS maintain a backup copy of your music on a hard drive/cds/dvds/etc.
Icloud allows you to redownload itunes purchased music ( if it is still available in the itunes store).
I would certainly not rely on icloud as a backup copy.

  • How to put a dvd on icloud

How can I get my Led Zeppelin DVD on icloud (my ipad)?

You don't. If your DVD is a commercial DVD, it's most likely encrypted. Breaking that encryption, a necessary first step in copying it, is illegal in the U.S. Therefore, the Terms of Use of this forum prohibits us discussing software or methods for copying a DVD. Sorry.

Make sure your computer is running smoothly on Snow Leopard OS X 10.6.8
    Create a Backup Before Upgrading...
Then check your Mac is compatible with Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.x
    Upgrade to Mountain Lion

  • Edu DVD in computer iTunes but does not show up in iPad iTunes or iPad video.  How do I make the DVD contents available on the iPad?

Educational DVD added successfully to computer iTunes but does not show up in iPad iTunes or iPad video.  How do I make the DVD contents available on the iPad?

Thanks!  For whatever bizarre reason for which I have no answer - I sync'd my iPad to my MBP the old fashion way (not iCloud) and the movie showed up just fine.  It is Nikon camera 'how to' video. I like to watch them for a better indepth discovery of what the camera can do.  The only weird thing about the hard wire sync is that it was placed in a catagory "home movies" which was never there before...actually it showed up in two places "home movies" and TV shows.
    So, thanks anyway!  Pretty cat!

  • Back up iPhone 4 to a folder/DVD?

Its been a while since I did this and even though my 16GB iPhone 4 is almost full, it would be good to back up my iphone 4 to a folder or somehting where i can burn to a dvd or 2, as back up.
My icloud account is only 5GB and it says i should back this up - when i do it says error and it cant be done at this time, i suppose as i dont have enough room
Is there a quick and simple way to back up to a file should i need to restore? via itunes?
I know I can probably download all my photos via iPhoto and burn those to a disc or folder... and is that the same with itunes? so it may just be a smaller file to actually burn once these are gone?

Yeah, I understand I syncs only with one iTunes library.
So how can import all my iPhone's info (messages, photos, notes) to my computer and add them to iTunes? I want to back up everything before updating to iOS5.

  • Multiple iCloud accounts to hold 55 GB of data?

This issue has been covered but no answer is clear.
I have a 64 GB iPhone, (and I know there are 128 GB iPads) and I presume the iPhone 6 will have 128 GB when it is released 362 days from now....
However, iCloud is limited to 55 GB.
What is the best way to seamlessly back up more than 55 GB of data across more than 1 iCloud account?

That is correct. If the photos where synced via iTunes then the only way to remove them is via iTunes.
I assume you have a MacBook.
You need iTunes 11 to sync with iOS 7.
iTunes 11 requires OS X 10.6.8 or later.
If you are running anything earlier that 10.6.8 then, yes, you will need to ugrade.
You will need to purchase Snow Leopard on DVD for $20: Mac OS X Snow Leopard - store.apple.com
Then update: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 - Support - Apple
Although from here you can upgrade to Mavericks for free, you don't need to go any further and you may not be able too depending on your Mac.
Below are the requirements for Snow Leopard and Mavericks.
Make sure your Mac is compatible before moving forward.
If you are running Leopard (10.5) or later you can use Time Machine to backup before you upgrade.
    Snow Leopard Requirements:
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
    Maverick Requirements:
    iMac (Mid-2007 or later)
MacBook (13-inch Aluminum, Late 2008), (13-inch, Early 2009 or later)
MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid-2009 or later),
    MacBook Pro (15-inch or 17-inch, Mid/Late 2007 or later)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or later)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or later)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or later)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
    Your Mac also needs:
OS X Mountain Lion, Lion, or Snow Leopard v10.6.8 already installed
2 GB or more of memory
8 GB or more of available space

  • How do I store different folders to ICloud?

I modified my 17" I7 Mid 2010 MacBook Pro over a year ago to install 2-500Gb SSD drives by removing my DVD drive.  Everything has worked fine, but I obviously did this in order to have some data stored on the second SSD.  The most important folders on the second SSD drive are my IPhoto files, My ITunes music files and my Documents folders.
I cannot determine how ICloud determines which folders to use to store these files on the local machine, and therefore I do not know if my data is actually being stored in ICloud after transferring over from Mobil Me, since these data are not in the usual location on my MacBook Pro.
How can I manage the locations of folders on my MacBook Pro for ICloud?
    Any help appreciated....

    Thank you for your response.
I am not sure you understood the question after reading your response.
I am clear on the difference between Mobil Me and ICloud, and there is certainly no IDisk equivalent in ICloud.
I have always been clear on the usual locations for storage of these data files for IPhoto, ITunes and Documents (the default location for Pages, Numbers, and Keynote files).
I am not using the normal locations becasue of constraints in the amount of available storage.  You many recall that both ITunes and IPhoto as well as the IWork applications can use locations different from the normal ones you mention to store their data files.  It is unclear, and undocumented so far as I can tell, how ICloud determines the location of files to be synchronized.  If it is the "usual" location, those which you mention, they are not there on my MBP.
I was unaware of the limitations of the documents synchronization, and can find no documentation that describes this.  It is also unclear where Pages, Numbers, and Keynote files might be located for synchroniztion through ICloud.  Once again, my data files for these apps will not be found in the usual location, and I cannot tell whether ICloud looks to the "normal" location, or is directed by the applications for the location of the data files.
I believe that the real question is where ICloud looks to synchronize its data.  Does it look in the normal location (those which you mention) or does it look where the application looks.
I am excited about the functionality touted for ICloud, but quite disappointed in the absence of any meaningful documentation.
Thanks again for your kind reply....

  • I have a new company and I am running everything on my Mac(s). I would like to set up my iCal to send calendar requests from my company address. Right now it is sending through iCloud which is not the email that I want to be sending the calendar requests.

I have built the business website using WordPress. I have BlueHost as my email client and everything is working fine. I am now faced with a problem setting up my iCal appointments. Does anyone have a work-around? Right now my iCloud (gMail address) is what is sending the requests.

I don't remember in 10.4.11, but Parental Controls did allow OKing Mail or not in 10.5.8...
BTW, 10.5.8 can be installed on slower Macs, I have it on a 450 MHz G4...
    Leopard requirements/10.5.x...
        *  Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 (867MHz or faster) processor
    minimum system requirements
        * 512MB of memory (I say 1.5GB for PPC at least, 2-3GB minimum for IntelMacs)
        * DVD drive for installation
        * 9GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
    Classic/OS9 Apps no longer supported.
Trouble is Apple no longer sells it, check eBay & such for the Retail version, not the Gray Discs...

There are workarounds if the 867MHz CPU is the only hangup...

  • How to transfer old icloud id stuff to new account id?

    Hi all!!
Ok I have a friend who has an iPhone 6 and his wife an iPad (old iPad using large usb cable) and they have an
iMac (no DVD drive) and they use the same iCloud id's on both devises now the part to do 2 separate iCloud id's
I can do no problem BUT the part I'm not sure how to do is to transfer Contacts, Calendar, Photos, music,
apps etc…. from the old iCloud id to the new one without loosing anything. This change will be done on the iPad side
So what to do?? I didn't tell them yet that it was gona be easy to do because I have no idea what's involved to do this
transfer so I need help to do this step by step (no geek language please). They have OSX 10.10 on iMac and iOS 8.2
    on both devices.
    THANKS ALL!!!

Technical part is as easy as it gets, you just sign out of icloud and when prompted you keep what you are allowed to keep. Stuff that you will not have a choice is really minor, but if you want to - you can backup that stuff by emailing photostream pictures or documents in the cloud. Once sign out - sign back in to new id.
Legal part is however different - while you are allowed to keep all those applications, music on ipad, it  belongs to old apple id still. Legally, so when it is time to update app you need to enter password for old account or delete an app and redownload for new account. If it is not free you have to pay again. Normally though families do not mind doing updates under the same id, as long as icloud and imessage/facetime are separate.

  • How do I copy a dvd to my macbook pro retina

I have a series of lectures on dvd that I would like to copy to my macbook pro retina, so I dont need the super drive when I am listening to them. I am not interested in burning them to a blank, just watching them without the disc.  Thanks

you can get another computer with a CD slot and transfer the videos via iCloud or USB.
    Or..
you can just buy a CD writer/reader machine for only 35 bucks. I bought one that was made by LG, and it works really well.
And if you decide to buy the CD machine thing, make sure it's compatible for Mac.

  • How can i get a new icloud Add-in for Outlook

My icloud refresh button is gone.  I have checked my Add-ins and the icloud Add-in is gone as well.  Even when i choose the "disabled items"  under manage Add-ins, it does not appear.  How do i get a new icloud add-in.  I have already uninstalled and reinstalled icloud.

Click here and order replacements. Alternatively, if the machine shipped with 10.6.2 or earlier, you can buy a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store, but it won't contain iLife or the Apple Hardware Test.
