My e-mail is frozen

I was in my email account and was replying to an email and when I clicked send I got a message that my email couldn't be sent.  I went to the draft folder and clicked on it and tried to send it again and nothing happened.  I clicked the cancel button and nothing happened again.  Now I can't get out of that view and click any of my other emails.  I even turned off my iPad and turned back on and the same thing is there.  I am still connected to the Internet.  What do I do?

Try closing the Mail app completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
Also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Or quit mail and restart.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit/close open apps by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • IPad 2, mail app frozen after g3 cellular connected. Receiving mail, but all screen function frozen. ???

Ipad 2, mail app frozen after connecting via g3 cellular. Incoming messages are received, but all app functions are frozen. Any ideas anyone?
rural location, have only Internet connection for answers, since email frozen. Thanks any help.

Thanks Diavonex, but that's what I tried to discribe that I'd already done. I didn't realise it was called the "task bar".
I've done both the things you suggested again, but Mail is still locked into this "white" screen when it is relaunched, and after 10 seconds it crashes back to the app menu page. I seems to be running in the background as it knows new emails are waiting to be read, but you can't get into Mail any more to view anything.
Not sure whether to delete all Mail accounts in Settings and start again, but that seems extreme.
    Any other suggestions ?

    Ernie,
Thanx a lot. It seems my domain name ran out, and I didn't get a 'renew soon' email cuz the auxiliary address they had had changed over the years.
That said, even tho I renewed I'm still not getting service. Pair mentioned it'll take up to an entire day to get reconnected; so I'll wait until tonight.
    Thanx for chiming in.

  • How to repair Apple Mail's frozen 'send' button?

how to repair Apple Mail's frozen 'send' button?

More details on the particular "adjustments", please?
AFAIK, there's no documented to insinuate a change into an outbound SMTP message (if that's what you're up to here) within Apple Mail.
Most commonly, these sorts of header adjustments arise at an intermediate mail server.  Usually spam filters have something similar.
If these particular "adjustments" are possible within Mail, then it's likely via the undocumented plugins API underneath Apple Mail.  And, well, that API is not documented.  And the plugins API has changed at various Apple Mail updates, too; it's clearly not a stable API.

  • My mail is frozen/due to an update. Please help!!

After a recent update, my mail will open to a frozen screen with the spinning wheel of death. The screen is maximized and I've used Force Quit but it doesn't terminate the program. So first off, how do I close Mail and then second, do I rebuild the mailbox or something else? I'm assuming that I have to close Mail first because I can't get to any of the options while it's stuck. I've looked over the web and can't find an answer to my specific question.
Newbie Mac user is beyond frustrated!! Pleeeeease help.

Klaus 1 - I actually figured it out! I held the Shift Key then clicked on the Mail icon on the taskbar. Was able to close then re-open without rebuilding.
    Thanks anyway for your help.

I am running Maverics now and when i try to send a grup email, I get a response that I cannot send a message saying "Cannot use the server smtp.gmail - The server "smtp.gmail did not recognize the following recipients" and then it lists every address that I use time and time again with no problems. In addition, I cannot dlete this page, I cannot get into my mail because this page is blocking it. I have tried rebooting, etc and it is still there, blocking my ability to use mail.
    1) How to I get rid of this?
    2) If one adress is no longer valid, mail will not send to the others and I get this frozen page again and cannot use mail. How can i send a group mail?

Ah ... yes ..... it does have a power button. Every iPad has the same sleep/power button in the same place on the iPad. I'm happy that you found a solution .... but maybe you should download this for reference.

  • Mail completely frozen

About a week ago I tried to send a photo in an email. It wouldn't send. Ever since then, I have had no success in getting into email on my computer; also, my internet connection is very slow. I cannot print any of the "frozen" messages (900+), I cannot delete any, I cannot create messages nor can I receive new ones. I'm able to work with my email on my husband's computer, sending, receiving, deleting, etc., all the normal stuff. When I return to my computer, there is no change in that frozen account whatsoever. I called for Apple help and talked to five techies. Because my internet connection is also ailing, they thought it might be that my computer was no longer working with our Airport Extreme Base Station. Also went to the Genius Bar with the Base Station; It was decided the Base Station isn't the problem. Tried that techie's suggestions at home--delete mail "plist" and create new mail account with same user name and password; kept getting the message that name was already being used so couldn't create new account. (Hmm..did he mean create new user account for the computer??) Tried other suggestions from friends and 'net, e.g., hold Shift while restarting Mail; do Repair Permissions; remove Default Counts, EnvelopeIndex & LSMMap files; open Terminal and type "sqlite 3 ~/Library/MailEnvelope\ Index vacuum," etc. Still no go. I hope some of you smart folks can offer more suggestions. Thanks so much!

I thought I should post a message saying that, after talking with patient Apple Experts on the phone, my issue is resolve. Thanks so much.
