My E71 FM radio

my nokia E71 FM radio just doesn't work.anytime i try to connect to radio the only available option is the visual radio.i changed the auto-start service on the settings of the visual service to off but still the FM radio.does anyone have a solution?

Can you be more specific about what it is doing? For example, does it not display a currently tuned frequency? Can you not press Options>Manual tuning to choose a frequency?
Not to be base, but do you have your headset plugged in?

    Hi guys,
My question might be a little bit eccentric and perhaps some WLAN gurus can answer . I've found an option in WLAN "Advanced Settings" of my E71, called "Radio Measurements". Anybody knows what is its function and in which occasion shall I disable it (it's enabled by default).
    Thank you in advance.

Fried Brains is right the N82 version works well.
Just one downside. The labels for the softkeys are on the right of the display, not along the bottom. Otherwise works fine!

  • E71 wont re install internet radio

My memory card failed and I lost Internet radio .I have uninstalled it but when I try to re install it fails saying it is already installed and to uninstall the previous version which is not there. Is there a file I need to remove before I can Re install

First, try a factory settings reset.
Factory settings reset. In standby, dial *#7780# and the phone's security code (the nokia's default security code is 12345). This reset restores phone's original settings.

  • E71-1: get back factory state applications? + ques...

E71-1 bought in Bangkok on Monday Sep 8, 2008.
    1) I searched the forums but didn't find answers about whether a hard reset (turn on the phone + "call", "3" and "*" until the Nokia screens comes on) would restore the original applications which came in the phone.
Specifically Dictionary and Windows Live Messenger.
    2) Also, do you guys install Themes on the phone memory or the MicroSD?
    3) I turned-off the warning tones in the profile I am currently using but unlike for some other users, this trick didn't silence the camera shutter sound.
    4) In offline mode (when no SIM card is inserted), Radio insists on using only cellular-based data connections to get a list of stations. Visual Radio is turned off and set to not start at launch.
So, Radio won't launch, wants a data connection first but my WLAN isn't listed in the settings for me to choose. Any way to force it to use the WLAN as opposed to the cellular connection?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Well, for 1), I could not wait for a response on here and did a hard reset. It does not restore the phone to the exact way it was when I took it out of the box.
Settings and all that are wiped out, wizard runs when the phone is turned on for the first time but the contents of the Installations folder are not restored to their original state.
SO, the way to restore the applications it seems was not to do a Hard Reset but to go the Menu > Download! That folder didn't do anything for me two days ago because I didn't have a SIM card inserted unlike yesterday when I tried again and it worked .
    2) It seems to be best to install themes on the phone itself as opposed to the memory card: simple anecdotal evidence for these forums and others I have browsed for this question.
    3) No way to turn off the camera shutter sound. Stupid Nokia!
    4) the Hard Reset seems to have cleared this problem. Now Radio launches fine.
I don't think S60 is much more impressive than WM as far as I can tell. They both feel the same way. The OS gets in your way all the time, one way or another: the look, the UI, functions, it's just disappointing.
    Stupid Nokia:
Nokia is using S60 the way other OEMs are using WM. They have no attention whatsoever for the details.
Another example: the Camera doesn't remember user settings from one launch to the next. It also doesn't focus by itself either, one must press T to get it to focus. And picture quality is not so good.
An unnecessary menu level in Tools > Settings > General > select General, you then get the contents of the General folder contents and the tabbed arrangement on the top right which should be offered right after Tools > Settings > General
The appearance of the icons rivals $25 phones menus I have seen. The E71 right out of the box has a very outdated icons and menu design.
The e-mail app is ridiculous: isn't the E Series a so called business-dedicated line of models? Idiots.

Sorry, but what's the problem? Your post is not clear. On my E71, the dedicated volume keys on the side of the phone adjust the volume of the song playing in the music player app. I've never had a problem with this. If you have a problem then there is something wrong with your phone. You could try reinstalling the firmware, or take your phone for a service.

I am using 7.1.51.0 Nokia PC Suite on Windows 7. I have Nokia e71-2. I have latest software on device (410.21.010) using Nokia ovi Suite (2.2.0.245).
Under Device manager->Bluetooth Radios, I have following Drivers versions installed:
Micorsoft Bluetooth Enumerator from Microsoft: 6.1.7600.16385
HP Integerated module with Bluetooth Wireless 2.1Technology from Broadcom: 6.2.0.9000
Using PC Suite when I try to connect to bluetooth, it supplies the pairing code. I hit OK and then enter the pairing code on e71. The pairing seems successsful and I can see my "tjsingh-mobl" laptop on e71 under Menu->Connectivity->Bluetooth->"Paired Devices". I set it as authorized device. However after some time PC Suite tells me that "Cannot authenticate the phone".
I have searched the forum and have failed to find any solution.
I tried the following also but didn't help. There is no "Service Controllers" app on my e71.
Menu > Applications > App. mgr. > Installed apps. > uninstall 'Service Controllers' and 'Contacts Groups DS Plugin' applications.

I had this problem too, but the phone got recognized at last after the  latest OVI Suite upgrade. Somehow it must have installed some  drivers which allowed win7 to recognize and autenticate the phone

  • E71 and Handling of realplayer .SMIL file extensio...

Trying to use my Nokia E71 to listen to content on Ireland's Radio stations at :
    http://www.rte.ie/radio/
There is an option there to listen to the content in Realplayer (as Windows Media isn't supported on E71 or other Nokia devices that I know of).
If you chose one of the stations, it will redirect to a link such as this:
    http://www.rte.ie/radio/liveplayer2_av.html?1_real,http://dynamic.rte.ie/av/live/radio/radio1.smil,r...
It won't play because it wants an IE plugin of some sort (Flash or Quicktime) on my PC. There is an option there to "Play In StandAlone Player" and when I chose that with my PC, the web site hands out a file with an extension of .SMIL (realplayer file of some sort).
I can go to the same link on my E71 browser and If I save that .SMIL file to my E71 and then open that file using the built in File Manager it shows me the content of the .SMIL file and one of the URLs in there is:
    src="rtsp://live2.rte.ie/redundant/lyrical.ra"
and that is automatically highlighted (like the File Manager knows it is a URL). When I click on and launch that URL, it launches RealPlayer and the stream plays just fine. It seems that E71 Web Browser and/or the Operating System just needs a little code added to it to properly handle .SMIL file extensions. Is this something that can be fixed by Nokia to help me and others?
    Thank you for your time.
    Jeff

Thank you for confirming that other Nokias have the same problem. Again, when you open the .SMIL file, the internal contents of the file are correct, but only a part. Nokia would have to look at the .SMIL formatted file and extrac the necessary information to pass to the Operating System to launch the Real Player. Can't imagine that it would be difficult to do, but apparently they haven't seen fit to do so. Kind of like they haven't done a number of other things (in all fairness, they have done some decent things, but just not enough to have kept up with others).
Oh well, I guess I can just hang on to the E71 until time to purchase something that starts with "And" and ends with "roid" !

  • Cradle Change from 6230 to E71

I've upgraded my phone from a 6230 to an E71. Can I simply change the cradle on my Nokia car kit (professionally wired in to the radio etc) - or do I have to start over? Where can I get the cradle?

I was told this should not be possible. I was not able to connect to the cark-7w with my e71. My 6230 could. I also read about echo on cark-7w. I am not sure this is a rumor.
I also had to use voice mute on the loudspeakers of the car to make car navigation work..however, my nokia maps still not working..application is a pain..for that reason I have a cark-100w instead of latest Nokia carkit.
Please let me know if you manage to get it work on cark-7w,

  • E71 and bluetooth/FM wired headset concurrently

    Hi all...
I want to listen to an FM radio through the bluetooth headset. So is it possible to connect the wired headset (as an antenna only) and also turn on the bluetooth to get the radio and phone calls through it? alternatively has anyone had any experience on the E71 with one of those rare bluetooth headsets that have a built in FM radio in them?  will the E71 fully support radio and mp3 operation with such a gadget? (mp3 from the E71 and FM radio switchable from the bluetooth).
Requiring I guess full A2DP support or suchlike...

    Thanks

Hi, I was intrigued with the first part of your question that I did not think of it first since I have both a bluetooth headset and the original wired headset.. so I will do this when I reach home and tell you if it works...
as for the 2nd part of your question, I would think that the bluetooth you mentioned is the one having the radio transceiver and that it is using that instead of your phone radio...  I would guess that because I also have a FM/AM headset, albeit wired, and it has its own transceiver...  so you have to ask the maker of that particular headset for the capability...  I guess you could ask whether, if you are listening to radio on the headset, could you still accept calls along the way (my bet is you can)...  if so, then you can use it on your e71...
    -> 3210 -> 8210 -> 8350 -> 6600 -> n80ie -> e71

  • Internet radio buffering problems

i have an E5 and i wanted to ask:
why does the internet radio app/menu still stops and/or buffers once in in while even if the 3G & wi-fi signal is really good? what could be the causes?
    please help...

Your connection could be fine but the internet might get congested. Lets say you stream radio from Taiwan. Your request has to pass about 12 nodes or more to reach destination IP. This takes time and possible datapacket loss. If you know the IP addres, you can perform a TraceRoute to see how long it takes to connect.

  • E71 problem

    Hey guys/gals,
I'm looking for a bit of help and hope you might be able to help me out.
I've had a Nokia E71 since just before Christmas and on Friday night used the headphones that came with it for the first time to listen to the radio. The thing is that since then I can't hear the conversation of anyone who calls me. The phone rings ok but when I answer it's as if there's nothing there and I can only hear the person if I put the headphones in or put the phone to loudspeaker.
The phone is obviously looking for the headphones or something but I was just wondering is there anyway to fix this?
For the record I've tried the whole turn phone off, turn it back on routine. Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers.

There is some form of switch inside the headset port which tells the phone when something is plugged in.  I know this because I have put a rubber plug inside it from an old motorola phone I have to help keep dust out of the phone.
If you turn the phone off and then back on.   Do you see it pop up with a message saying:
    Default Enhancement :
    Headset
Or something to that effect?  I'm thinking there might be something wrong with that switch.. causing the phone to think there is always a headset plugged into it.

  • Streaming MP3 on e71

    Hi,
I have just received my new nokia e71 phone. Together with wlan/internet I had the intention to turn this device into a streaming mp3 player. In contrary to the shoutcast streams, I would like to control myself what Im listening to.
However, when using the browser to follow m3u or pls links, the browser does not allow me to play the mp3 they point to. Whenver I point the browser to a direct .mp3 file; the only option seems to be downloading the file.
All in all I have not found a way to link the browser in such a way that it is streaming .m3u or .pls files. Is there any application that does this; or is there any way of changing some of the internals to let it stream mp3s?
    Any hints are welcome,
    kind regards.
