My earphone hole won't work on my iPod touch

Ok, iv had my iPod touch 4g since last Christmas and it's been working fine but about a week ago something somehow got wrong with the earphone hole because my earphones won't snap in the hole it goes all the way in but doesn't click in. The music doesn't play through them because it doesn't snap it. My friend told me that it could be from plugging it into a car jack. But I don't know. I thought something was maybe in it but there's nothing stopping it from going in. I looked inside my friends and theirs had a little silver thing at the bottom and mine doesn't so I think that's why but i don't know why it wouldn't be there anymore because iv been using it before my earphones just wouldn't click in the hole. How do I fix it? What's wrong with it?

Have you tried another set of headphones?
When you compare the plug on the headphones and the car cable and good set of headphones do they all have the same length? Could it be that the tip broke off and is not stuck in the iPod's headphone jack preventing full insertion of the headphone plug?
I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

If not then
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem.

My volume buttons won't work on my iPod touch 4th gen.

Whenever i try to turn it up, it won't work. So i go to the music and turn it up that way, but it slides down and is silent. it will stay for a couple seconds but not for a long time. everything else works, even though the volume pop up that comes on when you fix the volume in an app or on the menu. it goes away when i play music, but it comes back when i hit the home button to go to the menu. i've had it in rice for awhile since it might be water damage, but i don't know what i could do to make it back to the orginal state. please help me?!

Well, yes, data does get corrupted sometimes.
The trick is finding what data.
By 'cleaned' are you therefor meaning that the drive has been erased and the system re-installed?
Because that's the quickest way to deal with such a situation.
Back up the system first of course,
Add back 3rd party apps one at a time in case one of them is causing the problem.

Try a soft reset, press and hold both power and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears, about 15 seconds, then release both. If still no joy, go into Settings>General>Reset then tap Reset All Settings. If still no joy, back up your iPod to your computer then do a Restore to Backup, if that doesn't work Restore to new through iTunes. How do I get this beta IOS 7.0.2 JUNK TO WORK with my iPod touch 5?? I was prefectly happy with my iPod until I got the notice to upgrade itunes to 11.1 and would you like to upgrade your iPod from IOS 6 to IOS 7. And like an idiot I took the little green pill and pushed the button. Now I can't open iTunes, some apps; like the Lindsey Sterling app, Safari and Disney don't work either (not that I care about the Disney one, but, it's part of the base setup, you'd think "IT" would work!) almost anything with video links will not open, iCloud can't find me. All I get is that annoying white screen. I'M NOT HAPPY! I could have bought a Windows machine for a lot less money and have the same problems!?! (I'll bet Mr. Jobs is spinning like a top right now!) And I have goggled-- found a few fixes: re-install, restore, etc. found one that stated to get iTunes back to go into the iPods setting by double ckicking the home button go to iTunes app and sign out, then sign in again-- those options didn't work. If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

Is there some way to make the iPad Camera Connection Kit work on the iPod touch?

I bought the Camera Connection Kit because a tech said it would work with my iPod Touch, but I get the message that the iPod does not support that connection. I would really like itt to work because I have used an older iPod to back up photos while on vacation. I would simply connect the camera up to the iPod and it would download all the photos from the camera. It was an excellent way not to have to buy lots of SD cards. This kit has a slot for an SD card and I could copy directly from that. So if anyone out there knows how I could make it work, I'd appreciate your input.

Is your MacBook Pro new? Did it come with Lion preinstalled? If not do you have the iDVD application in the Applications folder?
If not I suggest you purchase a copy of the iLife 11 disk from Amazon.com or eBay.com or other 3rd party supplier. Apple does not sell iDVD any more and those items are getting harder to get.
Once you obtain iDVD go to iPhoto and bring up the slideshow. Then use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option. That will send the slideshow to iDVD from which you can burn a video DVD disk.
I suggest you follow this workflow while working in iDVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
