my earpods broke what do i do?

Very vague.
What would you do if your watch broke?
Coffee Maker?
Anything else?

    Throw it away.
    Use it as paperweight.
    Recycle it.
    Pay someone to repair it.
    Buy a new one.
    Live without it.
    Buy another type of phone.
What would you do with any other device that is broken?

  • Broke what didn't need fixing -- can't send e-mail

I upgraded to Leopard yesterday, and have lost the ability to send e-mails. I talked to the guy at Cox this morning, and he says he's hearing this a lot lately -- that Leopard and Cox (and maybe others?) are having problems. Something about security, he thinks, but he's not with Apple so he doesn't know what they did with Leopard that "broke" what was working fine with Tiger/Panther/Wombat/whatever releases of OSX.
It won't accept my password, and insists that my outgoing SMTP server is offline, while it still lets me receive mail.
I'm fairly cheesed off by this, and REALLY hoping Apple's working on a fix for this.
Had I known this sort of thing was possible, I wouldn't have upgraded. Grrr.

First, This is the most frustrating thing!! I am having the same problem as the others on this thread. I post to let apple know this is a real problem for a lot of people and it needs to be addressed ASAP. I can't send mail on either of my accounts on my macbook but I can send on both on the PowerMac.
I have 4 macs on my network and the only one with this problem at this time is my MacBook Pro. I had this problem on my Power Mac a few months ago and finally fixed it by deleting my account in mail and re-creating. That has not worked this time. When I look a the 2 computers (the macbook and powermac) the mail accounts are setup exactly the same. I have tried every suggestion on this and other boards without success. Can't send any mail (told can't connect to server and/or accounts always offline and option to change grayed out. Have tried ports 25, 587 and 990 with no luck.
I upgraded to Leo on the day it came out and did not start having a problem with mail on the macbook until this week. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH Leopard when it comes to mail, Safari and networking in general. I have had a number of very odd experiences since the upgrade. Not all of us are suddenly screwing up our email and only doing it since the install of Leo.
Had this problem in Tiger once and had to change the port from 25 but that was all that was necessary.

  • My earpods broke, and half of the silver part of the earpods got stuck in the headphone jack of my MacBook Pro.  Someone help me please!!!!!

The end part of the earpods broke off, and now part of it is in the headphone jack of my MacBook Pro. The piece of the earpod in the headphone jack is too small and short to just grab it with my finger.  I need help please!!!! Thank you to whoever responds.

There is no good way to get it out.
I have successfully used a dental pick kind of tool to extract one. It took a great amount of fiddling, so you must be in a very patient mood.
Others suggest the risky use of a blob of crazy glue to cement a "puller" onto the broken end. The risk, of course, is that if you get any on the jack, you are doomed.
The guys at the genius Bar will sometimes try to get them out. No charge.

Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support. Get your lock button fixed then you can restore your phone.

  • My IPhone 5 broke, what phone will they replace it with?

My Phone 5 broke (screen, no fault of my own) anyway, I rung Apple and went through everything I had to and tried resetting it however it still kept going white, anyway, I'm going to visit the apple store Tuesday, where the man said they will replace my phone..
I have an Iphone 5 and I know they don't make them anymore only the 5S and 5C, so I'm just wondering if anyone knows what they will replace it with, wherever or not they will give me another iphone 5 or a 5S/ 5C (I hate the look of the 5C's)
    thanks in advance :)

With another iPhone 5 exactly as yours .Apple will  have service stocks to cover many years .
They have stopped iPhone 5 Retail only

  • Dropped it .. and it broke - what n

I dropped it accident, fel out of my pocket...
now my micro is already broke:angry:
it doesnt start up and makes a weird noise , i can acces the recovery mode but and chose a option but than it also makes a weird noise and does nothing
What now? contact the site i bought it from (if it still exist)? contact creative?
didnt know it was SO easy to break :womanmad: i mean its a mp3 player, what do you expect no one ever drops it by accident?

    Pter,
You can get it repaired, but it will not be covered under the warranty. The warranty does not cover accidental damage (which a drop would definitely fall under). The ticking sound most likely indicates that the micro dri've was damaged by the fall. I would contact support and find out what repair options they have available. I would not suggest lying about the way the player was broken. For one, it is dishonest, and for another it will most likely be caught during the inspection phase. This will only further complicate the situation and delay your ultimate goal of getting a working Zen Micro.
Also, in the future please keep the language in your posts clean. We have people of all ages and backgrounds visiting here.

  • Computer broke what can i do

ok my old computer witch my ipod was synced with has broke. and when i tryed to sync my ipod on my labtop it deledted all my stuff. i dont rembember all my apps and all my music is gone.what can i do.i had alot of music that is now gone so what can i do i want my apps and music back ? ? ? anyways i can get it put on my labtop via itunes (online)

You can sign on to iTunes check your purchase history, and download your apps again, there is no charge for this.
For music purchased from the iTunes Store you only get one download. You can email the iTunes Store, tell them what happened, and plead with them to let you download the music again. They don't have to but they might. You do need to make external backups of your music in the future.

  • My ipone 5c screen broke what is best place for repair and cost?

My iphone 5c has a broken screen, where can I get it replaced and the price for that?

I guess as I haven't had a lot of issues with previous phones (only had to have a phone looked at for a hardware issue once), I'm trying to gauge whether the risk is worth it or not, which is why I posed the question here. What's the likelihood of something happening to my phone's hardware? But then how to I justify the higher price for getting it repaired by an Apple licensed service provider?
I know you guys can't necessarily answer those questions, but that's my contemplation right now.
    Thanks.

  • System suddenly broke - what to do now?

I have been using Arch for a few weeks, so far to good effect.  I decided to reboot my machine today though, as it was taking a long time to create a MySQL index and I decided to cancel and restart after a fresh boot.
Alas, now when the system comes up I get my Slim log-in manager before it brings up XFCE4, but, the keyboard now seems totally disconnected from the system.  Keyboard works fine in bios, but seems inert with the login manager.  Unfortunately, I'm not sure what to do at this point.
I will very much appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this.
    Many thanks!
    Mark

I was not aware that ARCH was quite this intensive.
Unless someone else installed your system, I don't understand how you could have got this far without realizing that.
There's no such package as udev any more, it's been merged into systemd-utils.
I suggest you boot a LiveCD, configure your network, update and configure pacman, mount the broken Arch install, and use pacman (with the -r flag) to update your broken Arch. Then chroot into it and rerun mkinitcpio for your kernel profile (default is "linux").
tensegrity wrote:Seriously, does one need to spend years going through documentation before being attempting to use arch?  Really?
Years? No. A couple a minutes when you encounter a problem doesn't hurt though. It also helps if you already have a good grasp of the basics when you come to Arch.

  • My screen broke what should I do

My friend just got an iPhone a few days ago and he dropped it and his screen broke. Is there anything he can do? The phone is only 4 days old.

Yes there is something he can do. Contact Apple or make an appointment at an Apple Store. He'll need to have the screen replaced.
