My email no longer shows as unread when it comes in. How do I get it to do that?

OOn my iPhone5 and my iPad2 (both iOS 8.1.2), my email no longer is marked "unread" when it first comes in. what do I need to do to make it do that?

Goto the multitasking view and close the mail app. Closing and reopening the mail app should get rid of the problem. Jope it helps
