The outgoing mail server on my desktop just stopped working - i have checked all of the settings and everything seems to be correct - any suggestions?
Are these the settings you are using?
Setting up your Verizon Online email with Mac OS X Mail
Start OS X Mail.
From the Mail menu, select Preferences.
Click Add Account.
Click the Account Information tab.
From the Account Type menu, select POP.
In the Description field, enter a name for this account.
In the Email Address field, enter your Verizon Online email address (format is [email protected]).
Type pop.verizon.net in the Incoming Mail Server field.
In the User Name field, enter your Verizon Online user name.
In the Password field, enter your Verizon Online password.
From the Outgoing Mail Server menu, select New.
The SMTP Server Options screen appears.
Type smtp.verizon.net in the Outgoing Mail Server field.
Note: Leave all other settings in the SMTP Server Options screen with their default settings.
Click OK. -
When I go through the 'import favorites' from Internet Explorer, everything seems to progress correctly. However, when I click on Bokkmarks, there is no option in the menu for accessing the imported items form EI. Why would this option be missing and is there a fix for this?
Hello Nigel.
Are you sure the Bookmarks you important are nowhere to be found? They should be stored in your bookmark manager, somewhere. To access the bookmark manager, go into ''Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks...''. Try searching there.
You can change their place from there too. -
Printable Intermittently Failing to Print Completely
I have an application that uses the Printable interface to print 2 or 3 PrinterJobs upon an ActionEvent. The PrinterJobs are printed on 2 different networked printers--1 PrinterJob to one networked printer and 1 or 2 PrinterJobs to a different networked printer. The application is running on Windows XP and the printers are spooled with the standard Windows spooler. The JRE is 1.5.
The ActionListener (in outline) looks like this:
pjob1 = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
pjob1.setPrintService(printServiceA);
pjob1.setPrintable(printableOne);
pjob1.print();
pjob2 = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
pjob2.setPrintService(printServiceB);
pjob2.setPrintable(printableOne);
pjob2.print();
if (condition)
{ pjob3 = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
pjob3.setPrintService(printServiceB);
pjob3.setPrintable(printableTwo);
pjob3.print();
}So pjob1 and pjob2 use the same Printable on different printers and pjob3 uses a different Printable on the same printer as pjob2. pjob1, pjob2, and pjob3 are class variables of the main class and the ActionListener is a method of the main class.
My problem is that intermittently, the second PrinterJob (pjob2) fails to print everything that it should. I know that the problem is not with the printers because I've set the spooler to save the spooled jobs and the spooled output is incomplete. The amount of non-printed data varies but it always appears to begin printing and then stop at some point in the order in which the print() method prints it. This leads me to believe that there is some sort of race condition.
Has anyone seen anything like this or have any suggestions as to how to track this down?
Thanks.Hi Doc,
Based on your description, I understand that you want to set DC as printer server. However, it seems that you

A few days ago, my HP printer software updated automatically, everything seemed fine (Mac is running Maverick, my laptop is Snow Leopard). Out of the blue yesterday, my printer stopped printing (neither Mac can connect), I have tried everything. Both the suggestion from HP and Apple, it's making me crazy I've spent most of time trying to fix it.
You tried exactly what ?
I most of the time would start with the same Apple Printer Support page tech articles
OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Lion systems will have the necessary printing software already installed, or will automatically download and install software when the printer is connected or configured. Do not install software that came with the printer as it may be out of date, and do not connect the printer to your Mac yet. Follow the instructions that came with the printer to unpack, install ink or toner, and insert paper. Finally, use the instructions in this article to connect the printer to your Mac.
Make sure the printer model is listed in Printer and scanner software, which is a comprehensive list of all printer models that have compatible software for OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Lion.
How to add a printer
Start a print job on the Mac and manage its options
Generate and manage PDFs
Manage the printer queue and printer dock icon
Share the printer queue
Mac OS Printing/Fax (any version), OS X Lion, OS X Mountain Lion
http://www.apple.com/support/osx/
printing in OS X Mountain Lion
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670
Try to delete the print queue under Print & Fax / Print & Scan then manually add a print queue.
Steps here: http://bit.ly/TdUuHL
If it doesn't work, reset the printing system:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341
then add another print queue manually. -
I can print everything on my HP laptop, but unable to print any emails from my wireless HP Photosmart Premium C309. What could be the cause?
This question was solved.
View Solution.OK, the printer is attached to your router just fine, so the problem is likely in your PC.
I'd recommend you uninstall the HP software (with the HP uninstaller), reboot, then get the latest software for your printer from the "Support & Drivers" link at the top of this page.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

Some emails I receive on my iPad seem to have disappeared when I try to go back into them. Also I sent an email with attachment to several people. When I went back into my email the attachment had disappeared. I phoned one of the recipients to see if the attachment had been delivered and it had. She tried forwarding the email and attachment back to me. I received the email but not the attachment. I checked my iphone fior the original email and the attachment wasn't included. I have IOS7 on the ipad but IOS6 on the iphone. Can anyone advise please?

HP Laserjet 6MP fails to print with parallel-to-USB converter cable
I have a LaserJet 6 MP parallel printer which I was using in 10.3.9 with a parallel-to-USB converter cable. The Printer Utility saw it natively as a USB device and it printed just fine most of the time, although it would occasionally fail to print, so I installed a different driver called usbtb 1.0.15, and after that it printed very reliably.
Now I've upgraded to 10.4.9, and the Printer Utility still detects the HP printer natively as a USB device, and I also installed the formerly-reliable usbtb driver again, but the printer now fails to print with either driver. It acts like it's going to, but then it quits.
When I choose Print, all the features of the printer are shown, and I can select which tray to take paper from etc., and the printer dialogue box says "Printing," the activity light on the printer flashes just as it always does when printing is in progress, but then, instead of printing, the activity light stops flashing and the print job disappears from the dialogue box.
Can anyone tell my why this printer is failing to print now, and how I might be able to get it working again?
Thanks,
TomWait a minute! It's only certain Indesign documents that won't print.
All TextEdit docs will print.
I created a few scribbles in Photoshop and they print.
But with InDesign, there is no predicting which documents will print or will not print. On some that will not print, if I remove all but one text box, then they will print. On other documents that do print, if I copy some text off of one that won't print and paste it in, then that one stops printing too.
On some that won't print, if I erase everything on the page and create a new text box and type a few words into it, the page will print. If I revert to the previously saved version, once again the page won't print.
What kind of craziness is this, anyway? It seems random. I can't figure it out.
Even on the documents that won't print, when I try to print them the printer's activity light blinks as though it is just about to print, but then the light goes out without printing.
Anybody got any ideas what this problem is and how to fix it?
All I know is that EVERYTHING printed before I upgraded from 10.3.9 to 10.4.9.

HP Color LaserJet 1515n fails to print
HP Color LaserJet 1515n fails to print
I had this printer just 13 months, and it has stopped working without giving any kind of error code.
I ran my black down to 1% using override - and then nothing. The printer accepts jobs and appears to do everything up to the point when it should start feeding paper through the printer transport.
I changed the black toner, but it made no difference.
To avoid complex print driver problems I have been using a simple txt file with 'hello world' for testing.
Having reinstalled the drivers.
I have done a very extensive web search, I cannot find any appropriate help.
I took the side off the machine to reveal the electronics, and tested all the connections etc, but cannot find anything obviously wrong.
The transport mechanism seems ok, because the manual feed slot accepts paper and pulls it in, but then goes no further, ie to actually start printing.
The calibration process seems ok, and all the 4 color cartridges seem ok, and the spindles on them obviously turn having marked them to see if any were stuck.
As there is no error code in the log file, I cannot see what is wrong.
Does anybody have any idea what is wrong? Are there and tools that can be used to interrogate the printer further?Wait a minute! It's only certain Indesign documents that won't print.

HP PSC 1410-v All-In-One - Doc. failed to print
My HP All-In-One 1410-v printer works fine most of the time. However, it used to print my paycheck stub from Intuit's Payroll Website. Suddenly it refused to print that information. it will print the first three lines and then I receive an error message on my computer in a pop-up box that says:
The Document failed to print
Document Neme: FLASH
Printer Na: HP PSC 1400 Series
Time Sent: (the current time)
I have talked to Intuit.
My printer prints everything else fine.
I tried downloading the information to Adobe (an option available from the site) and then printing it from Adobe; I receive the same message.
I had an unrelated computer problem and my hard drive was wiped clean. I reinstalled printer from CD. Still will not print this document.
I downloaded the check utility and the check indicates I have the most up-to-date driver.
I don't know what else to try. Anyone have (and solve) this problem? Ideas? Suggestions?
ThanksMy previous post corrected:
This works successfully (OpenPrinting/MacOSX/hpijs) BUT when I originally installed it, it would only print in colour i.e. it only used the colour cartridge to print, even to print black/white or greyscale. I solved the problem - I thought - using the advice from http://tech.ifelix.net/1300.html even if my printer was on the "compatibility list".
However, I recently installed the latest version of the OpenPrinting software http://www.linuxfoundation.org/en/OpenPrinting/MacOSX/hpijs#Printers to find that I have reverted to the colour cartridge only use! I don't seem to be able to resolve the problem this time around. Can anyone help? -

HP 1300 printer fails to print certain PDF documents with OSX 10.7.5.
I solved this through the phone call help ( which cost me $25 ...) - there was some name colusion in the printer name - the rep basicallt uninstalled everything, did hard resent to all devices - printer, router and Mac, then installed the printer again under new name , seems to solve the problem .

Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.

To begin with you need to preface all interfaces that are to be available to network manager with "!" in the INTERFACES array or rc.conf (that will disable them for Arch init scripts, so that network manager can have free access to them). You also need to remove the "network" daemon from the DAEMONS array. There might be something else that I've missed as well...

Adobe Acrobat Pro failed to print pdf file
I downloaded adobe acrobat pro and started the 30 trial version just a few minutes ago.
I could open files through adobe acrobat and convert word files to pdf, but when i tried converting a publisher file it could not go through. An error popped up which read "Adobe PDF printer failed to print pdf file".
The publisher file I am hoping to convert to pdf is a 21 page panorama article. It contains lots of images and a variety of font types.
I do not know other alternatives for solving this issue.
Your help will be very much appreciated.
Thank you!
ErikIt seems to be that Adobe Acrobat virtual printer is not properly installed on your PC or you are not selecting Adobe PDF printer to print PDF document. Checkout the below screen shot to see proper printer.
After trying this if you have same problem you may trt some other virtual printer that easily convert or print any file as PDF, you may checkout here. -
Can't 'Scan to Email' on USB connected printer to AE (Bridge mode)
Can't 'Scan to Email' on USB connected printer to 2nd AE (in Bridge mode extending wireless network).
Prints fine though.
Printer is set to static IP adress (192.168.0.50).
Upstream Router is: 192.168.0.1 (this is connected to first AE).
When the printer was previously attached (by ethernet cable) to 1st AE, everything was working fine and I could login to printer Admin page via Safari by tying IP Address.Only the print function is supported when a multi-function device is connected to the USB port on an AirPort router.
Advanced features like scan, copy, maintenance, etc are not supported at the USB port.
