My emails won't send but my acccount settings are correct

Emails not sending and receiving the error message but my account settings are correct.
"Sending of message failed.
The message could not be sent because connecting to SMTP server mail.krowl.co.uk failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your SMTP server settings are correct and try again, or contact the server administrator.
I need some advice asap please or i'll have to bomb mozilla and use another email provider.

I have had the same problem for days, if not weeks..
Yesterday emails sent and received fine. Today, the problem's back. This is the basic pattern. Most of the time it doesn't work but occasionally it does, albeit for short periods of time.
Nothing works that has been suggested. My provider says that all works fine their end. My partner's email works fine on his iPad, his iPhone and my iPhone.
I've tried different ISPs (as suggested), disabled plug-ins. I use a Mac and don't have anti-virus or have a firewall turned on.
No help from Mozilla, Apple or my provider has helped but will post it here if anything ever does solve the solution..

I can now use my hotmail account again and changed the password on my phone settings to be able to use this account on my phone again. However, when I try to send emails from my iphone from my hotmail account, it says my password is incorrect and the emails won't send. I am also not convinced that I am receiving all emails, although some came through when I initially re-added the account. I have tried to delete the account and add it again, as well as restart my iphone, but I am still having the same problem. The password I have for the account is correct! I would be so grateful if anyone could help.

    For anyone else having this problem I have found a solution! You need to change the outgoing server settings as well as the incoming server password which appears on the main settings page. Go into the account in settings and select the box under outgoing mail server. Click on the box under primary server. This will take you to the settings, including the password which you can change.

    Hi all,
    Had a problem for an unknown period of time now where emails won't send from Mail on the iPad. I had a couple of people ask me why I hadn't responded and after saying I had, they told me they hadn't received anything. I checked my sent box and the emails hadn't been sent.
    I thought it was just with iCloud.
    I have just tested it with another iCloud account and also my Gmail account and none of them will send an email. All work perfectly on my iMac - and Gmail works perfectly on my phone.
    The strange thing is that I get the sent noise as soon as I hit sent, which is why there's been confusion. It doesn't sit in drafts or fail to send. There's no error. As far as you can tell it does sent - but it's never in the sent items/outbox and never received the other end.
    Any ideas? Such a frustrating problem that I've never, ever had before.

    Oddly, the test email sent from my Gmail account on my iPad has just appeared (after a five minute or so delay).
    The email however, is still not inside the sent folder - there's still no record of it having been sent.
    Problem persists in full for iCloud - nothing sending from iPad and being received by the recipient.

    "Your email account" means to tap on the name of your email account. Whatever it is listed as in the settings.
    In my mail settings, one of my email accounts is a Comcast account. I tap on the Comcast name and it brings up this window.
    Then I tap on the arrow under the Outgoing mail server smtp setting to get to the next window.
    In the resulting window, I then tap on the arrow next to the smtp server under the Primary Server setting.
    That brings up this window in which I check to make sure that my user name and password have been entered correctly. If those items are missing, enter them in the appropriate fields and then tap done.

    I can receive mail but can't send it from Mail 3.5. Same problem on a wired G5 and on a wi-fi MacBook (using the same account), so not hardware related.     Been having the same problem for a few weeks now. This has been working just fine, and all of a sudden - nothing. The update to 10.5.6 didn't do anything to fix this either.
    I've spent numerous hours on the phone with the Apple support. Seeing as the two other accounts that I have configured work with no problem, they say that this is a problem with the provider which is also the ISP. I then called the support line for the ISP and informed them of this and they say that it's a problem with the software.
    Interestingly, if I send a message to somone with the same ISP, the message will go. But I can't send a message outside of the provider. Does anyone else have this problem?
    Also, from another forum, they suggested rebuilding the LaunchServices database. The Apple support didn't see what that would do. But I tried it anyway and the problem still exists.
    Another intesting thing is certificates. It's only happened twice, but I've received the message saying that Mail can't verify the certificate XXXXX which validates the identity of the smtp. Anyone else get this? I thought perhaps I could delete the certificate and it would magically reappear. But when I go into KeyChain, the certificate is listed only under System Root and I can't delete it.

    OK, I thought you'd like to know that I figured it out!   Yea.
    I reasoned since my iphone is now sending, I would check to see if the exact same settings in the advanced mail area were the same.
    The port on my phone was 110, but in advanced mail area on the mac it was 995/SSL.
    I clicked on that and it defaulted to 110.
    But what is strange is the 110 port is supposed to be for incoming mail (which I was getting fine even tho it had the 995 port) and the smtp outgoing I thought was a defaulted 25 port. 
    Anyway, when I changed the mac to the 110 port in advanced area, the mail in outbox was immediately sent.
    I have absolutely no idea how the port server was changed to 995 SSL on the mac, since no one but myself uses this computer and I certainly didn't change it.  Also, it doesn't at all explain the iphone doing the exact same thing a week ago, even tho that port said 110 when I checked.  Very strange indeed, but thanks for the help anyone who is reading this and I hope this helps anyone else having a similar problem....

    Launch Mail.app, select Mail > Preferences... > Accounts and select the account you need to edit in the left column.
    The receiving information will be displayed for the selected Account, with a pop-up selector for the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) toward the bottom.  That selector shows which mail server will be used with this account; to send mail. 
    Click and hold on that selector, and scroll down (holding the mouse or trackpad clicked) to Edit Mail Server List... and you'll get a sheet dropping down with the mail servers listed. 
    Select the problematic mail server, and edit it using the Account Information and Advanced items on that sheet.

    In order to check your settings, please select Help/Troubleshooting Information, click Copy Text to Clipboard, then paste (Ctrl-V) in a reply, and delete the printer and font details.

    It is the same accout that has been working find for years and just after I updated the software this has happened. My Mac is still receiving and sending via Outlook with the same account and settings. My Iphone 5C has also stopped and I tried deleting the account and adding again (via exchange as it's an exchange accout) the same way I always do and it won't even recognise it to add the settings.
    So annoying. Can anyone help?

    The user name and password are in two places. Make  sure they are correct in both locations.
    Settings>>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>>your email>>
    First spot is here under INCOMING MAIL SERVER
    Below this is OUTGOING MAIL SERVER
    Select: SMTP smtp.comcast.net>> PRIMARY SERVER :smtp.comcast.net>>second location of user name and password
    Here is the second place that the user name and password must be checked.
    I had changed my password in the first spot, but not the second spot. I had been receiving the same error message. This fixed my problem.

    To expound a little on lllaass post ....
    Go into your email account's settings : Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars , tap on the account on the right-hand side, go into Account, then SMTP (under Outgoing Mail Server) and try filling in your email account name and password (they might show as 'optional' at the moment) and see if that helps
