Well, that didn't work since I am already using my appleID for both FaceTime and iMessage but i did see the option to send as SMS when iMessage not available. so I am now able to send to him but I don't know if he can send to me. It's a start. It is only with his phone. His wife has a Galaxy and they are both on AT&T and she can send and receive. I am on sprint. If that info helps

[latest macbook pro 15"] there are about 280 GB "other" on my storage, which came from no where. Any idea or suggestion of any fs manager? I am new with Mac OS X, and usually using finder to organize my files. I really don't know where these 280GB "other" came from. this laptop is used for my study, so I haven't used it for downloading vedios or musics which could be extremely large. (what about steam online like youtube? is there any temp folder that need to be cleaned manually in os x?)

The Other items could be items in the OS X folders such as the System folder and caches, personal information such as documents, contacts, calendar data, App Plugins or extensions, Media files that cannot be classified by Spotlight as a media file because they are located inside of a package, file types not recognized by Spotlight. I'm guessing - if you've uninstalled the previous version, then surely there's nothing left to "update", is there?
Can you undo the "uninstallation" procedure? If not, you will have to download iTunes again and install it as a new installation. -

In addition to the very sound and useful information posted by Lawrence Finch, there is also a way to save the photos from the photo stream to the camera roll on the iPad so that even if the photo stream is turned off, the photos will remain on the iPad.
Launch the photos app and them open the Photo Stream album. Select every photo that you want to save by tapping on them, then tap in the action/sharing icon and select - Save to Camera Roll.
Having said that, the information that Lawrence shared with you is very important and the instructions in both articles are very useful. Make use of them. -
My young kids have ipads and since I updated the software, but they have their own icloud account, predictive text within their messages shows all my contacts from my iphone but the contacts are not listed as their contacts, how do I stop this?
I have deleted the iCloud account under my name on their iPads and replaced with their ones. Apple support said yesterday I needed to click the small 'I' by each name as it came up in the TO box and remove it. After doing rid for each contact under each letter of the alphabet it should remove them from latest contacts. Having done this, although I could not remove groups I had sent, I am not convinced they will not return once I have written a few texts, any ideas?

I have an iPhone 4. I recently updated. It loaded all my iTunes music purchases but not the music I had on my computer. This music was on my iPhone before I updated. I have tried re-sycing but not getting anywhere. Says it cannot locate my music files but I see it on my lap top but cannot play it or get it on my iPhone. Can anyone walk me through this?

Yes it would, possibly even brick it.
Have successfully connected my ipod nano with iTunes so looks like the device driver is working.
Can I use my ipod nano USB connector to check?
It is not much help to you, since the device that you need still not recognized.
Anyway looks like I may have to swallow the loss of data. Have set-up a call for tomorrow with Apple support so will wait until after this before doing the factory restore!

i have purchased itunes match but the cloud will not load on my ipad 4.it works on my iphone 5 & it originally worked on my ipad.the only music that will show up is stuff that i bought from the itunes store.any ideas on how to get this to work?
On the MBP, in iTunes, switch to Song view and enable the iCloud Status column by pulling down View > View options and selecting the option for "iCloud Status." Close the small window. Look for any tracks that have a status of "waiting." If you see several of them disable iTunes Match while holding down the Option key. Quit iTunes, wait a few seconds, then open it again and turn iTM back on. Let it compelete the scan. Wait until all tracks that are "waiting" have a status of either "matched" or "uploaded."
On the iPad, turn off iTunes Match then launch the Music app and let the contents clear out. Power cycle the iPad for good measure, then re-enable the service once all the tracks in iTunes have been processed. -

No, it has something to do with the firmware on the phone itself. The phone won't do anything. I have used redsn0w to try and put the firmware back on, no luck though. The farthest I am able to go is DFU mode. The message on the screen says, "Error no successful firmware download after 60000 ms!! Giving up..."

HI, I am trying to connect my macbook pro, 18 months old, to a projector using the mini display port and a cable/connector to a VGA port on the back of the projector. It all fits but the there is nothing happening? no mirroring option. Any ideas appreciated. Many thanks
to get to the Detect Displays button you have to hold down the Option key and the button appears.

my iCal calendar that I created with the color green keeps changing to purple. no matter how many times I change it to green, it turns it back to purple. I called Apple and they said that they know about this problem. It's a problem with iCloud which their Engineers know about. (there was a new iCloud release, hence...) No ETA for a fix yet. I asked that this be escalated so Engineering doesn't put it at the bottom of their fix list. I talked to a Senior Advisor and mentioned to them to have QA check their regression tests as this has happened before to me (the problem just didn't take this long to resolve). I like to use green too for important stuff, so I've resorted to creating a new calendar using the normal calendar green for events going forward. They could have picked another color besides green to have this problem with and I wouldn't have been so upset. ;-)

I have issues with Itunes 10.6 on Lion and Quicktime 10.1. They don´t play bought movies from I tunes store, any ideas why?
I found the same issue... I can play other movies but no purchased ones. I can get the sound but the picture is scrambled. Does anyone know how to uninstall and reinstall iTunes? maybe that will work.

I can no longer sign in to my home fi (bt hub) with my iphone 4. Yet I can get on wireless with my laptop so the hub is working. The only thing Ive done different recently is download and use an app called Onavo mobile ltd which Ive now deleted, help pls?
Read another post in the forum about this and it appears this app also installs a profile with a proxy service that you will have to try and delete as well. Check that out.

I just downloaded iOS 6 on my iPhone 4 and now can no longer open internet links that were texted to me. Anyone else having the same problem or know how to fix this?
The SMS links thing is highly annoying. You don't have to copy/paste however. You should see an icon like this: (>) to the right of the text bubble with the link. Tap on that, the in the screen that opens, tap "Visit".
Alternatively, you can tap twice directly on the link, then hold your finger down after the second tap.
Still unnecessarily difficult, but not as bad as copy/paste.
What I don't get is why can't I find any mention of this change or how to fix it (if even possible) elsewhere online? -
I'm trying to delete some recently downloaded apps that don't work. They are faded grey and although they shake with the other apps, no cross appears in the top corner. Any ideas anyone? Thanks, Sean
I have the same issue witha slight variation. The app icons that are grayed out and cannot be deleted are DUPLICATES of other apps that I already have. For instance I now have 2 Redbox apps - one works normally, the other cannot be opened or deleted.
