My entire toolbar disappeared. i have no tools, backbar, etc

i had my toolbar loaded with backbar, tools, favorites, etc. It all disappeared after a popup came on stating that other people were logged onto my computer (this is a home computer), did i still want to close down. i did. everything changed. i get frustrated trying to use this

Try View -> Toolbars -> Navigation Bar, and/or View -> Toolbars -> Customize, and '''Restore Default Set''' in the dialog that appears.
If the menu bar isn't visible either, press Alt, then V, T, M to make it stay.
If that doesn't work, you can reset the toolbar customizations, using the ''Reset toolbars and controls''

I can't remove firefox as my starting page, I have even unistalled it - I have tried tools:general etc and I want a blank page when I start!

* If the menu bar is hidden then press and hold the Alt key down, that should make the Menu bar appear (Firefox 3.6 on Windows) (see [[Menu bar is missing]]).
* Make sure that you have the ''Navigation Toolbar'' and other toolbars visible: View > Toolbars .

Upgraded to 4.0. Bookmarks Toolbar disappeared. Can get back my changing View or in Options but I have to repeat this every time I open Firefox = a pain!

After upgrading to 4.0, bookmarks toolbar disappeared. By clicking off Menu Toolbar I can get it to reappear (or by clicking off, clicking on Bookmarks Toolbar) , but why do I have to do this for every Firefox session? Why isn't it remembering I have Bookmarks Toolbar checked under Views?

Hiding the Bookmarks menu item is not a default feature in Firefox.
Do you have a Delicious extension installed? 
If so, look for that option in that extensions options. 
If not, look at the extension s that you ''do'' have installed for that preference.

Add Anchor Point tool makes entire selection disappear

I've encountered this off and on over the last few years from Flash CS3 to CS5. It doesn't happen on everything but right now I've got some hair I'm creating and I've spent the last 30 minutes trying to add anchor points and only successfully been able to add 3 or 4. Most of the time, adding an anchor point just makes my entire drawing disappear. Has anyone else encountered this? My work has all but come to a stop because of this problem.

Problem Solved.
Turned on Smart Guides (cmd-U) and that seems to have taken care of it.

I have been running Chrome from several versions back when Firefox became very slow. I am now trying to switch back to Firefox. I have 27.0.1. My bookmarks toolbar disappears every time I close the browser. I have tried all recommendations I can find including reset and renaming, etc, but nothing has cured the problem. Restore to default used to work for the current session, but now that does not work. I am about to give up and stick with Chrome as this bookmark toolbar issue is driving me nuts. I am about to try uninstalling Firefox and reinstalling. And that will be my last resort unless I get a solution to this problem. I have been a Firefox user from the very beginning up till 16 or 17 and like Firefox, but this seems to be a common occurrence from my research. BOOKMARKS TOOLBAR IS A MUST HAVE!

It may be time to look at this list, maybe going straight to 6).
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

I have students whose toolbars "disappear" and global settings does not help.

As mentioned, I have 2 students that have somehow deleted their toolbars. I've been given 2 solutins so far and neither one has helped.
I have went into "customize user interface," but it won't let me bring them back. It is only on that student's login and on that particular computer.
If they use another computer, or another student uses that computer, the toolbars come up. The FAQ didn't help me because; there is no folder titled "electronics workbench"; There is a folder titled National instruments, but there is no folder under it titled "ewb9"; and the only "ewcfg" files I could find were default files, no "ewcfg" files with anyone's user name could be found. I tried going into the global restrictions using the password given, and none of the disable boxes are checked. I should also calirify that the toolbars do show up, but they are only a small grey square. You can mov ethem, but you can't "open" them.

I have Version 10 and I am not sure this is the same for Version 9, but here is what I know. In version 10 the config giles are contained in the Documents and Setting folder on the main drive. For example mine is located here: C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\National Instruments\Circuit Design Suite\10.1\config.
You might try to look and see if you have something simular on your machine. Once you do find these config files. Just delete them and re-launch Multisim/Ultiboard and the program will rebuild them and restore them back to the original default settings. This should also restore the toolbars. At least this is what I have read in the forums in the past. I have not had any toolbars disappear, so I have not tried this personally. It will do no harm to your install, but may not help with the problem. The only thing to do is give it a try and cross your fingers.
I hope this helps as I do not have Version 9 and this is about all I can tell you.

Adobe apps are OK as are some others have deactivated any haxies etc, have repaired permissions reset prarmeter RAM

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output andWi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

My address bar--in fact, my entire toolbar--has diappeared! I can't enter any new websites, or manage anything on familiar websites...no buttons,no control!

To reiterate, my address bar and my entire toolbar have disappeared. I cannot enter any new websites, and I cannot control anything on the websites that I can enter, because my buttons are gone. The only websites I can access are the ones already located in the easy access windows on the 'New Tab' page. I have nowhere to write a new URL. This effectively renders my Firefox browser nearly useless! This must have been caused by a recent update. I can't imagine any other cause of the problem. I'd appreciate any assistance. Toolbar disappears CS4 (Concurrent with LILO Plug in Prompt)

Let me begin by saying that I am very new to Mac and Adobe.
I have been happily using my InDesign for several months when I concurrently began getting a message when I open an indd file that says, "
Missing Plug-In LILO. (Optical Kerning APLN) " Plug ins Not Available on your system"
Opened file anyway and get another message telling me that hyphenation services not installed on this system.
Immediately thereafter the Tools Panel has disappeared!
Tried every imaginable way to get toolbar back. Type>>select tool (tools is not even showing up as an option) View>> (all window options not showing as well.)
Researching web for several days. Getting very frustrated. Approached Abobe support. All they were able to tell me was that they do not support a LILO plug in and brushed me off to unnamed third party.
So I am led to believe that I have no use of my software unless I buy a plug in from a third party (which Adobe will not name).

I have version 6.0.3. The curious thing is that this is happening with files I created--not imported from another computer. (All files). So it does not seem to suggest a version discrepancy issue.
I looked for the LILO plug in. It was right where you said it would be. But it says LILO.InDesignPlugin on the file. Nothing that suggests it is a .apln file. When I click on the file it says "there is no default application specified to open the document." Would I need to download another plug in? If so, where to find it?

In Firefox v4.0.1, custom toolbars disappear from the toolbar menu when I open a "New Window".

1.
I created a new toolbar in Customize... / Add New Toolbar. It's on the list of toolbars and opens up '''most times''' I start Firefox, but not ''always''. I have tested it and it is completely random.
2.
Same type of problem as 1., but '''''everytime''''' I use the 'New Window' feature the custom toolbar disappears from the toolbar menu and if I need to use it, I have to '''save all tabs as bookmark''' then close and reopen FireFox so I get my original window [where the toolbar shows up]. AARRRGHH.
I've been using FF for 7 years now, so I know enough to rule out corrupted localstore.rdf, new or updated add-ons (I could be wrong though, as I often am...).
Has this come up with other users? Am I being cursed? [lol] any help would be appreciated.

When I access another web server, there is a tool bar on top "File, and with other functions. I do not have this tool bar with Firefox. I bought a new printer, I need to conect to Firefox in order to print.

You should be able to print documents from webpages using Firefox. The print button should display by default. However, it is possible it was removed during an upgrade or due to custom preferences. The way to fix it:
# Firefox > View > toolbars > customize
# Select the printer icon and drag it to your browser window
I also found a Support article on restoring toolbars, as you said the toolbar was missing:
