My expansion drive was unplugged and all renamed files on Premier Pro are missing! HELP!

I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5. I have been working on a project for over a month, and this morning, I realized that there is a problem with it. To ensure that I don't junk my computer up, I always leave the files I am working with on my expansion drive and work from there. I autosave all the time, etc., but apparently, at some recent point, my expansion drive was disconnected, and Premiere Pro is telling me that all of my files are offline. My biggest problem is that I renamed all of my video files in Premiere Pro, but I did not rename them on my expansion drive. Thus, to find them would take me probably as long, if not longer than, my original work. Is there any way in the world that I can save these files and the long hours I have already expended editing this video? If you have any idea at all regarding what I can do, I would be forever grateful. Note: I am working with AVCHD clips.
Please. Anything would be helpful at this point.

Bill I have run into a similar problem, but probably one driven by my finding my feet with PP. I have a new system arriving tomorrow, but mean while it has been difficult assessing clips outside of PP because the .mov files take time to open in Quicktime, and it has been easier to load them into the PP Project window and assess them there. I then give the clips meaningful names, but later realised that I can't relate the clips in PP with the original files, so can't clean up the dud clips from my HDD. ISTR that PP has a function to clear unused clips from the Project window, but is there a way I can delete the dud clips completely? Another Adobe application perhaps?
I imagine it will cease to be a problem when I a) get the new system and can more quickly assess clips outside of PP, and b) work out a better workflow.

I'm thinking here your internal drive failed? Was it replaced?
You have a blank internal drive and a TimeMachine drive and your asking how to reinstall OS X so you can restore from the TimeMachine drive?
How are you getting here? Another machine or device and what is it?

I have most of it backed up on a external hard drive all i am affraid to do anything as i don't want to lose all the time and money i have invested. Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup.

It felt as if maybe a virus was at work but I ran Sophos and found nothing.
I store images on my Drobo Raid system but when I work from my Macbook Pro I have no issues, just on the tower.

First of all, why did you say yes to Nero Back up before researching what it does with files already on the HDD? When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

You will need a separate partition unless you plan to use the entire drive. You will need an amount of space somewhat larger than the total space now used on your startup drive. If you select the startup drive's Desktop icon, then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Used space will be shown in the topmost panel. Add a GB or two to that number to determine how much space you'll need for the backup.
Do not backup on a drive that has any files you want to keep. You can make a bootable backup as follows:

1. Open Disk Utility in the Utilities folder.
2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag
it to the Destination entry field.
5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to

6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.

Is the volume muted? Click on the volume icon in the system tray to see if it shows as muted. If that's the case, I know of a workaround to fix this because if you unmute the speakers now, the condition will come back when you reboot your computer. I don't know the exact steps off the top of my head at the moment as I'm not in front of my machine. Check this first and reply if muting was the problem and I will detail the steps needed to fix the problem.

Hard drive recently failed and iPhoto brings a -36 error when copying need help accessing image files

I recently updated my computer to mountain lion and after doing so my computer would no longer boot up. I took it to the apple store and they told me that the hard drive was damaged and needed to be replaced. They were booting my computer with an external drive and in doing so could access my computers HDD. Upon starting to drag and drop files to a new hard drive I started to get a lot of -36 errors. I proceeded to go go,e and create my own bootable thumb drive and try doing the same process with more time to look through it. I have up till now been able to copy most of my files but have run into a problem with iPhoto.
I have been searching around for a while now and have yet to find a method that helps me in my particular situation so I am now asking for help myself. I will explain what my current system of file recovery is and see if anyone can help me out.
I have since then replaced the HDD in my computer and purchased a SATA external HDD enclosure for the original drive. This allows me to still access all files and folders from the original drive. I have managed to recover a majority of the files but have recently run into a problem with the iPhoto library. Every time I try to drag and drop the iPhoto library to my new HDD it fails after "transferring" 2.02GB and tells me it has encountered a -36 error because some files cannot be read or written. I believe I am using iPhoto '09, I will check and confirm that later.
I am looking for a way to open iPhoto's library and access the image files it seems to be hiding from me. Please understand that I cannot open the iPhoto library either, I have lost access to the library entirely and want to see if there are any image files that I can save. I dont have the computer backed up recently and want to save my photos. Thanks for looking and I'm hoping someone can help.

Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In Library Manager it's the FIle -> Rebuild command). Rebuild it to the Pictures Folder. This might overcome the -36 issue.
(This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.)
Failing that you're into recovering your Originals from the damaged Library and creating a new Library and starting over from scratch.

I am not sure where you mean when you say the green LED should be on. Do you mean the TC?

In order to help troubleshoot ethernet connections all routers use connectivity leds.. even APPLE.. it has one big LED on the front.. and 4 tiny leds beside each ethernet port. That light has to come on for ethernet to be active.. if you plug an ethernet cable into the port and the light doesn't come on.. then there is no connection.. either the other end isn't plugged in.. or the cable is bad.. or the ethernet port is bad.. something is wrong.
To get access to the TC you need this led to be green.. is it?
If it is green and the WAN is also green.. then I want you to unplug the WAN connection.. the blue wire in the picture.. the port slightly separated from the 3 LAN port.. computer plugged just into LAN port.. no airport turned on.. and press the reset again for 10sec until front led flashes rapidly.. then try and bring up the airport utility again.. assuming the ethernet led is green.
How old and what model is the TC?
The A number from the rubber mat will tell us the model.

Has anyone heard of RoboHelp HTML v10 "magically" deleting itself and all project files?

We have an off-site contractor that swears RoboHelp HTML "magically" deleted itself and all project files. I've never heard of this and wondered if anyone else had. It sounds kinda fishy to me, but I've seen some strange things from RH, so thought I'd ask around first.

No, no source control in play that I know of. It appears we have gotten few answers to questions. The problems began when it was reported that they could not copy the project files to a flash drive. I personally have never had an issue with this task. Then, it was reported that the project had gotten deleted by RH. The resolution after-the-fact is that the contractor spent 1+/- week recreating the project (60-70 topics) from the published content.
I'm surprised that as a contractor they didn't know to come here and ask questions or find tools available to reverse engineer from the published content, but I suppose not everyone knows of the goldmine that lives here. I'd never heard of an uninstall removing project files, but I know there are a million ways it could have been configured and never say never, right?
