My exported mpeg2-dvd m2v file won't playback an image in Encore CS6 or QT?

I've also posted in Encore, but this group sees a lot more traffic and supposed to deliver tomorrow.
Exported media as mpg2-dvd from PP CC 2014, imported as timeline with the .wav into Encore as suggested here: Adobe TV
I don't know if this is an export issue, or an import-into-Encore issue. I get sound but no image in the Encore monitor window. The m2v file plays back in VLC, but no image in QT, and attempted playback gets me spinning beach balls.
Thoughts? Just need to burn a DVD for client delivery tomorrow. Yes, a DVD.
I'm running osx 10.9.5, 2.7GHz i7/16GB RAM MBP with a couple of SSDs in it, and a Thunderbolt RAID 1 for media.
Thanks for any leads.

If you can post screen grabs of the Export Settings and Encore screen, might be of help. Have not run into this before, no video in Encore.
Thanks

  • Premiere Pro CS5.5 craches exporting mpeg2-dvd

    Please help me.
I'm trying to export a movie to mpeg2-dvd and premiere pro craches after a while. Is there any way to know what is the problem, like a log file somewhere?
I believe that is something in this project because i've exported an older one and it went ok

I still have the same problem.
I will give all informations yhat you asked in your reply:
Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update
    All windows updates
    System: Windows 7 Professional x64
    Source footage: HDV clip
No error message during render. It just stops in a specific effect (crossfade). If i delete this transition i can render the entire sequence but then software crashes when exporting media (mpeg dvd) or after a very long time gives "unknown error"
Has this ever worked before? If export an old project it works normaly
What other software are you running? no other software, only cs 5.5
Do you have any third-party effects or codecs installed? matrox mx.paterns but not in use in this project
Tell us about your computer hardware: Asus Workstation, I7 960 12GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro 2000, Matrox Mini MXO2
Are you using Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration? Yes my gpu is supported. Already tried with software acceleration, same problem
Already copied entire work area to another sequence and doing so i loose all effects and then exports fine.
I hope I have provided enough information so that someone can help me

  • Should I export MPEG2 DVD in 720p sequence? (cs5.5) final output DVD

What's the best way to downscale for DVD in 720 30p (HD). Is it best just to export stright to the preset MPEG2 DVD in premiere's export settings?

Correct, choose the MPEG-2 for DVD format, and for a preset, Widescreen Progressive (NTSC or PAL as appropriate).
It takes a bit longer to encode, but if you check the "Maximum Render Quality" at the bottom of the AME window, this should improve the downscaling quality.

  • .mov files won't playback in quicktime 7.2 after archive and install

I just did an archive and install, because I was having a few problems with the Safari beta.
However since doing so it has been a complete nightmare. So many things stopped working. I'm guessing I had them installed on the system and not on my user.
So now after getting most thing back up and running, .mov files won't play in quicktime 7.2 an annoying 3ivx pop up appears which leads to a dead link.
So I checked the .mov format and they are 3ivx, but how do I install and from where do I get the codec??

    Perian
    http://perian.org/#detail
It's free and most people use this to play off the wall codecs...3ivx.
Please read the information on the web page on how to install and use. In the download there a help page.

  • P2 files won't playback...

Has anyone had this issue. I am trying to playback some clips that originated from a HVX200. I used log and transfer to bring into fcp v6 and took a small clip and cut it down to say 20 secs moved it to the timeline and hit enter. The clip won't playback. When I hit enter again it stops on whatever frame it end on and updates to that frame but won't play throughout.
    Any ideas.

    Update:
    A/V Settings
    -Playback Output
Mirror on Desktop or set to none...
When I clicked on none it would play in monitor. When I clicked on output to Digital Cinema and didn't have set to mirror on desktop it did not show up. I'd hit Enter and it would not playback. When I hit enter again it would update to the frame it stopped on.
So basically the settings in the A/V Settings Tab need to reflect the output you want...so it is now working.
    Thanks for your help...

  • How do Export Mpeg2 as one file please?

Hi, I've been asked to enter some work into a competition.
All of my work is in Final Cut and the spec for the competition is a single file Mpeg2?
Every time I export an Mpeg2, as always it comes out as 2 files, audio and video (I'm sure you guys know that) but this comp is asking for a single file mpeg2? How do I do this?
I've come across the word 'mux', is that relevant?
Any help is much appreciated, thank you.
    Alex

I had this problem when i had to FTP some finished spots to a television station for broadcast.
Personally, I've never dealt with MPEG Slipstream, but a lot of guys here seem to recommend it. Here's my solution that tends to work the best.
    1. Export your video out of final cut.
    2. Bring that into Compressor.
    3. Apply an Mpeg 2/Aiff encoder to it, (just like you'd do if you were going to DVD, except aiff instead of AC3) and export.
*NOTE-For this i created my own preset and cranked up the settings as high as they would go. Normally you wouldn't do this if your were going to DVD with it, but i wasn't and this would give me the best quality.
4 Convert the Aiff to an .M2P with "Bit Vice Helper" (I don't know the website, google it, you'll find it. I believe it's a free download, or it's REALLY cheap.) using the advanced settings.
    5. Multiplex you .m2v & .m2p files together.
I like this because bit vice helper doesn't actually re-compress your video, it just combines the 2 streams together. The file size of your final video will depend on how high your data rate you set for the MPEG 2 you create in Compressor. Generally, mine tend to be around 30Mb for a 30 second commercial. But that's also with the highest compression i can get.
    Hope this helps!

  • Export using H.264, file won't retain aspect ratio

    Hi,
I'm attempting to export a file using Compressor, and the "H.264 LAN Streaming" setting. The finished file doesn't retain the original aspect ratio (16:9) but creates a file that has is 4:3.
After several attempts and checking all the obvious stuff, I started thinking maybe it has something to do with using video with different frame rates in this project. My camera is an HVX-200 and I shot primarily in 720/24p but also had some shots at 60 fps. Just wondering if this could be causing any problems.
It's probably some simple thing I've just completely overlooked, but I'd sure appreciate any help. The couple of times I've posted here I've received great input, so thanks in advance.

You have to set the dimensions. DVCPRO HD is an anamporphic format, so it will export anamorphic. Unless you give it 16:9 dimensions. Like 640x360.

  • DVD Quicktime movie won't playback properly on G4 Powerbook

After authoring a movie in imovie hd and saving it as a dv Quicktime file and burning it to a dvd on my G4 Powerbook, the dvd freezes on the first couple of frames and just stutters forward. However, when I play the same dvd on my desktop imac G5 with identical software, the dvd plays back just fine. Any suggestions? I've tried discussions with Quicktime people with no results. The dvd drives on both computers are virtually identical, softwares identical...the only real difference is one is a G4 and one is a G5. Could that make that big a difference?

Tried reinstalling Quicktime and it didn't make a difference. maybe the problem isn't with Quicktime at all. I tried burning a dvd with the same Quicktime DV files on my imac, thinking it might be the superdrive in my laptop. the dvd plays back fine on the imac, but stutters and stops on the laptop. I can't believe it's just the difference between the G4 and G5 or the difference between the Matshita DVD-R UJ-816 in the powerbook or the Matshita DVD-R UJ 825 in the imac.
Anyone out there have any other suggestions? Some articles I've been reading lately suggest that it may be the media and that the two dvd drives respond differently to the type of DVDs I've been using (Maxell DVD-R 8x). Maybe I should try TDK or Apple?

  • H.264 Blu-Ray rendered .m4v files won't playback in any media player except Adobe software

Hello guys and thank you in advance for your help. I am going to pull my hair out!
I had to reinstall Windows 7 and am experiencing an issue that is driving me crazy. All of my 720p H.264 Blu-Ray.m4v files rendered with After Effects will not play in any player I try in Windows. I've tried Windows Media Player, VLC, and Media Player Classic. I've tried with a clean install and no other codecs except those included with Windows 7. I've tried installing additional h.264 codecs. I've tried installing ffdshow and other codecs as well and no matter what I do, the files will not play at all.
The only way I can preview the file it to load it in AE or Encore or something similiar. Unfortunately, this is not the best solution for me. I'd love to be able to preview the files quickly and efficiently through Windows Explorer / Media Player without opening Adobe software. I don't think that's too much to ask.
Another issue is that before I reinstalled Windows that these files played back just fine in Windows Media Player! I don't know why it was working and now it's not on a clean install. All of the hardware is the same. On the original working install, I don't recall installing any additional codec packs or anything. It just worked...
Regular .mp4 H.264 files (not Blu-Ray) play just fine in all players. Something the Blu-Ray spec is doing to the file causes it to not work. And changing the extension to mp4 does nothing.
Please tell me what I am doing wrong! Is it something with the Mainconcept codec? Is it something with my drivers? What am I missing?!?

Thanks for the suggesstion Mylenium, but that didn't help either.
I installed PowerDVD which came with the Blu-Ray drive, and also a trial of ArcSoft's Blu-Ray player, and neither would play the files.
Any other suggestions? This is killing me. I don't understand why they would play before and not now. The files arne't corrupt. Even new rendered outputs in the same preset won't play. They'll load into Encore just fine though and even are listed as "Don't Transcode", so I know the files themselves are okay.
Could it have anything to do with drivers? I was testing an Nvidia video card with my last build and now I'm just using a Sandy Bridge chip with Intel's on-board video. But I do remember even when I took the Nvidia card out and just ran on-board video the last time, the files still played fine...

  • File won't print, no image selected

I am running into a wierd problem with Acrobat x. I am running Acrobat X on a mac using mac os 10.6.8.. When I go to print I often get an error message stating "cannot print" and then another saying "no image selected". I have tried printing it as an image but nothing seems to help. Does anyone know what might be causing this? The file is only one page so on page range to be printed  I can only select all or current view. I have tried both. This is a pretty big issue since I am a digital printer and printing from Acrobat is constant requirement for the job.

First let me state that this is my solution on a Macintosh running 10.7.5 and Acrobat Pro X (with all the latest updates).
This problem started for me just this last weekend. I have been to every so-called solution that I could find via a Google search and NONE of these "solutions" even by the self-tagged "experts" work. PERIOD!
I decided to follow one suggestion to install Acrobat Pro 9. However, instead of uninstalling Acrobat Pro X first, I left it installed.
During the initial startup of Acrobat 9 after installation I was offered the option of installing an Extra feature called Adobe PDF Printer which allows me to "Create Adobe PDF files from any application by printing to Adobe PDF Printer". I opted in to that extra.
Once Acrobat Pro 9 had started I tested it using one of the PDF files that had failed to print with the dreaded "No pages selected......" error messages. THE FILE PRINTED AS EXPECTED!
I then decided I would uninstall Acrobat Pro X, but on a whim decided to try to print the same PDF file that had just printed using Acrobat Pro 9 one more time. IT PRINTED!
All I can figure out is that somehow selecting the option to have Acrobat Pro 9 install the option for allowing other applications to create a PDF repaired something within the Mac operating system. Just a guess.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • Problems exporting and playback the MPEG2-DVD videos, from .MP4 file!

I have PremiereProCS4 v.4.2.1 installed on this PC:
    OS:WindowsXPProx64Bit; CPU:IntelCore2Quad Q9650; RAM:4GB DDR2 PC2-6400 Kingston; HDD:3x500GB WestrnDigital Caviar Green; VGA: Sparkle GeForce 9400GT 512MB.
I have downloaded an AVCHD file .MTS 1920x1080p 25p, made by Canon HF100 AVCHD camcorder, from this source (.rar file):
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RWR5MNYHhttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=B9ZDX2RZ
The videos in question called: "25pf_1.25_f1.8.MTS" playback and export from Premiere as MPEG2-DVD very well.
I playbacked it on Premiere on the second Monitor as "OutputDevice". All Ok.
I playbacked also the DVD made with EncoreCS4, on the external DVD set-top-box-player. All OK.
I downloaded also another clip 1080p 25p, converted as .mp4, from the same author, imported then in Premiere with Preset "XDCAM EX 1080p 25p" (470MB) :
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=B9ZDX2RZ
    No problems with playback.
Exported as MPEG2-DVD PAL "Lower Field First".
Opened in NeroShowTime Player: the video have a serious interruptions of the playback, some moments plays back-and-forward, and it isn't fluid at all!
I tried to create a DVD with EncoreCS4 and played it with DVD Player set-top-box, and the result is bad, and is the same as the playback on my PC with NeroShowTime Player. It present the back-and-forwars interruptions.
I tried also to create an AVCHD Project 1080p 25p and import the .MP4 file, but the problem persists !
After exporting them, and played-back on NeroShowTime and on Set-Top-Box Player, the video have strange behavior, and plays back-and-forward!
    1) What Preset in Premiere should I use to editing, for this .MP4 file format, (filmed with Canon HF100 AVCHD and converted from original .MTS format to .MP4 format)?
    2) Is this a transcoding problem?
    3) Is this an exporting MPEG2-DVD PAL field-order issue?
This is my bad exported MPEG2-DVD converted file, available for downloading:

Strange! With .MTS files I haven't any exporting problems at all!
    Please response me hurry!
    Many Thanks!

OK! Sanyo use a bad format.
    But about JVC GY-HM100 Professional:
I know this model very well!
It records to .MP4 XDCAM_EX at the same manner of Professionals Sony Camcorder such this: Sony XDCAM_EX model "PMW-EX1" price €6.478,80.
This JVC GY-HM100 camcorder is not tha same as Consumer JVC camcorders.
It doesn't record MOD or TOD files.
It records .MP4 files editables in Premiere with XDCAM_EX "Preset"!

The first Brochure called "A Guide to the Most Efficient Workflow with ProHD
(6 pg brochure)" explain very well the .MP4 - XDCAM_EX format and the Editing process that should be with Adobe PremiereProCS4.
I have inspected the downloaded .mp4 file in question, and GSPOT v.2.70a reading this:

  • Unable to export to MPEG2-DVD! Very weird situation .. Please Help!

    Hi Folks,
I've been using Pro for years.
Currently using CS6 - a fresh install from the cloud as of a couple days ago.
So, I have a project ready for DVD.
File / Export Media .. this brings up the Export Settings.
I choose MPEG2-DVD as the Format with Match Source Attributes as the Preset, then hit Queue.
Normally, this would queue the export in Adobe Media Encoder as .m2v but for some unexplicable reason - this isn't occuring.
Instead, Adobe Media Encoder drops the MPEG2-DVD format and replaces with the AAC Audio format!?
    What the?
Am I losing the plot? Have I missed something?
File / Export Media / Format MPEG2-DVD = .aac file (only) in Adobe Media Encoder??

    Thank you Ann.
Turns out I had missed an update for Adobe Media Encoder in the Adobe Application Manager.
I had installed the software yesterday and so I assumed I had the latest version. I was wrong.

  • Can't export m2v file

I just purchased the extension for QuickTime for mpeg2 support, and it works in the sense that I can open .m2v files. I also have an installed license for QuickTime Pro (7.4.5). When I try exporting a 300MB .m2v file as a .dv, it fails, returing "Failed: Export process terminated unexpectedly (10)". What can I do to fix this?

Use MPEG Streamclip (freebie!) and go to it.
