My external HD ( Transcend 500 GB) is not working on my mac.

My External HD ( Transcend 500 GB) is not working on my MacBook Pro.
Before it was ok, but neither I can add any files or delete any file, though I can view all the files and open it. It's coming as Read Only.
Please help.

look in "get info" do your permissions look ok or are they just read only.

Have you opened Disk utility and formatted it? Most new HDDs come formatted for Windows, not Mac.

Make sure the coorect output devices is selected and the Mute button is not checked.

You don't input the information in manually for iCloud mail. It is automatically set up for you when you sign into iCloud via System Preferences and choose the Mail checkbox. Sign out of iCloud or deselect Mail in iCloud preferences. Open Mail's preferences and choose accounts tab. If iCloud account still exists in the list, delete it. Sign back into iCloud or check the box for mail. The account will be auto created for you.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.
If extensions aren't causing the problem, see below.

If you can't sign in, then you can't troubleshoot and/or pair the keyboard until after that........ so, for that, you will need to borrow someone's USB wired keyboard in order to get signed in and to the Keyboard Bluetooth Preferences.

Long story short, I wind up losing the browser altogether -- including all bookmarks. Why? Because neither the Firefox homepage (or CNET downloads) makes it clear that 4.0 is for OS 10.5 only! Amazing!
Then I try to register to post a reply in a thread that crits Firefox for not making this System Requirements info upfront clear. But the Register page I’m taken to (https://support.mozilla.com/bs/users/register) is in SERBO-CROATIAN!!
Then I try to log into Chat a couple of times and when it’s not CLOSED its a long line waiting and THEN it closes.
WOW!! Are the wheels off the wagon here or what!?!

It's been a while but it should work on a Mac because Macs can read Windows formatted devices. Otherwise, you can perform a restore operation to return it to the Mac format. If you go to support.apple.com/manuals/ you can find a copy of the user manual for the model you have in which this is all explained.
