My face time says waiting for activation
Face Time says "waiting for activation" : I am in Canada and my wife is in Ukraine. I gave here an iphone5 for Christmas but her face time was stuck on "waiting for activation". I read here in this forum that sending her an imessage and getting a reply would activate the face time. It worked. She did not even have a sim card, just wifi.
This Apple doc has some ideas that should fix it for ya -> iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation

when I try to set ON to face time , it shows "WAITING FOR ACTIVATION" and is not changing , please help me to solve this problem.
Where are you? What network are you on? Where did you get the iPhone?
FaceTime is blocked in much of the Middle East due to the laws there. Face Time WILL NOT work on the US T-Mobile Network. In order for Face Time to activate, you MUST have a text messaging plan or at least be able to send them (not blocked by the carrier). If you purchased the phone in another country, you MUST be able to send an international text message. -
Dear all, I am unable to use face time. It says "waiting for activation". Pls tell what should I do.
I found a solution that solve the problem, and worked immediately.
FaceTime worked for me since I purchased my iPhone 4 more than a year ago.
It stopped working for me since I upgrade it to ios5.
The reason is that I had Restrictions On: accounts set to "Don't allow changes"
When you set this like that, you naturally blocking iCloud and FaceTime accounts.
To solve the problem go to Settings -> General -> Restrictions, and make sure you "allow changes" to accounts and also enable the FaceTime app to work.
Return to Settings -> FaceTime, and set it to 0 and back to 1.
That should do the trick. ☺
I recommend after to "Don't allow changes" to Accounts and Location, to block thieves disable the "Find my iPhone" functionality.
Good luck!

My iMessage and Facetime won't activate, says waiting for activation. All photos and contacts are restored, using email and wifi only, no service. Only issue is date and time will not automatically set.
Howdy eewebe13,
So you have no cellular service but are on Wi-Fi yet iMessage and Facetime are waiting for activation.
Please step through this article for that scenario.

My I message says waiting for activation
My iMessage says that it is waiting for activation
How do I make it work and not say waiting for activation? It wont say waiting for activation once it activates. However it could be stuck doing this.
I would try the basic stuff (like toggle iMessage, sign out of iTunes app store, hard reset by pressing both power and home button, reset network settings, try activating iMessage on wifi and cell data to out rule a network issue)
You may end up having to back up your iphone to iTunes. Then, go to settings <general<reset and "erase all content and settings" (this does put your phone back to factory settings) Just so that you can go through the set up assistant again, and sign back into your apple id for imessage and face time.
You will want to choose "set up as new" when going through the set up assisant, then once all done and iMessage is active, you'll then restore from your iTunes back up. -
Hi, why can't I use the iMessage on my iPhone? I've already had my apple id email on it but it keeps saying "waiting for activation" always like that. No progress. Could anybody help me on this? Cheers
I have an old iPod Touch with old software that can no longer be updated:
iOS version 6.1.6
I've been searching for a solution to my iMessage login problem for months and tried everything from those frustrating links and all the tips from other users.
Here is what finally worked:
1) Settings > Privacy > Location Services > On
2) Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically > On
3) Reboot device until Apple logo appears
4) Settings > Messages > Sign In -
I tried to add an email address to imessage as well as my number so my friend could email me from their ipad.
Firstly it said there was a problem with my apple ID password so i reset that (new password works fine, i have been able to download apps etc since!)
Now under iMessage it just says waiting for activation.. and it is only here i get the message saying my password is incorrect?!
I have tried rebooted and restarted phone many times.
I can no longer send imessages to other iphones, just texts! Its driving me mad!
why will it not recognise my password?! i even tried adding an extra email account and verified that with the password - worked fine!

when turn imessage on there is a message saying waiting for activation but it doesnt change anybody knows why?
Hi guys,
I keep getting "waiting for activation" on my iMessage. I can only send/receive iMessage from my email address, NOT my phone number.
I have done all kind of fixing suggestions that I can find online, but nothing works so far.
- Date & time set as automatic (I don't know why this matter, but mine was already set as automatic from the begining)
- Reset network setting
- Changing the DNS to 8.8.8.8.
- Restore to factory setting (from back up & as new iPhone)
- Turning on/off iMessage & facetime
- Sign out/in of apple ID
- Change location from apple ID
- Hard reset/reboot
And many others.
...me too. I'm in Portugal having the same issue!! Hopefuly Apple will give us a solution, shortly... -
My IPhone 5's Imessages just stopped working and I tried restarting and then turning them off and turning them on. It now says "Waiting for activation" and has said this for 15 minutues.
At the time of this post, there seems to be a problem with iMessage and Facetime but only some users are affected.

Don't understand why my Imessaging stopped working. If I go to settings messages and check out Imessaging it just says waiting for activation.
Change the DNS servers of the wifi network to 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4
Go to settings>general>date&time> set automaticly , turn it on if it wasn't
then settings>general>reset>reset network settings
restart the phone -
TS4268 under settings messages, it says "waiting for activation"
I'm connected to wifi, can connect to itunes using the same account, and changed my password to have a capital, number, and lower case to match the current requirements, but it still says waiting for activation, and when I try to log in with my apple id it says to check my network. Anyone know how I can fix this? I'd like to use iMessages..
Try the steps in this Apple doc -> iOS: Troubleshooting FaceTime and iMessage activation
Troubleshooting Apple ID activation
After each step, toggle iMessage and FaceTime off and then on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection. Check your Wi-Fi network using standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting.
If you receive an error when signing in to your Apple ID, visit myinfo.apple.com, sign in to your account, and ensure that the primary email address has been verified.
Ensure that FaceTime has not been restricted: Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
In Settings > General > Date & Time, ensure that Set Automatically is on. If Set Automatically is on, but the incorrect time zone is displayed, turn Set Automatically off and then choose the correct time zone, date, and time. Then turn Set Automatically on again.
Enable iMessage and FaceTime while connected to another Wi-Fi network in a different location.
