My facetime camera is out of focus

Is the lens clean? The front camera is fixed focus.
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Treo 755p camera is out of focus, any suggestions how to fix?

I bought the 755p used, everything works great, but the camera photos are blurry, out of focus.  I have checked the online User Guide and I can't find any adjustment or correction for this.  Palm wants $199.00 minimum charge to look at the phone.  Has anyone had this problem and been able to fix it somehow?  Thanks for any help or suggestions.  Eric, Reno, Nevada.
Post relates to: Treo 755p (Sprint)

Was the phone dropped, or immersed in water?  Either of those could cause the camera to lose focus...

Hey guys, is this a common problem with the iphone? My pictures focus great right in the center of the photo, but on every shot along all 4 edges it is out of focus. Is this typical?

  • Action Cam AZ1 out of focus

I recently bought the Action cam HDR AZ1 and im having this issues: Cant focus faraway objects, about 2meters (without case, out of water), only focus really close objects, about 10 cm. The video and photos are blurry. Any idea how to fix it?

    Hi,
I would like to ask for sample videos of the issue that you're seeing when shooting with your respective action cams. It would help us assist you better with this issue.

  • New iSight camera out of focus

I just received my new iSight external video camera which I am using on a Mac Pro. I have access to an internal iSight camera on an iMac. The internal camera works great. However, the external iSight is out of focus.
I have gone through all the Apple trouble shooting and contacted Apple support by phone. I have spent many hours on this problem. After completing this process the camera remains out of focus in iChat, iMovie and Skype. After reading several discussion groups I tried iGuess as it has a focus feature which is not available in iChat, iMovie or Skype. To my pleasant surprise the camera focused.
My conclusion (which differs from that of Apple Support) is that this is not a mechanical problem but a software problem. Am I correct? Will there be a software update to fix this problem?

Know anybody else with a Mac that you could check this iSight on? Know anybody else with an external iSight that you could try on your computer? Just to make sure it is, in fact, the software and not the camera?
Plus, since the camera's new, go through Apple Support again and if they still think that the camera's hosed, why not exchange it? (See about them sending you a new one with a prepaid shipping label to return the old one, so you're never iSightless).
A software update for what? iChat? iMovie? Skype? All of the above? These softwares all work for your internal camera. Not familiar with iGuess, but you might be manually (un)focusing to compensate for a possible mechanical problem.

  • Is there any easier way to edit imovie files that have been exported as mov file then added to FCE 4?? As every move I make has to be rendered and takes forever??? Also my recording is going out of focus without me touching the camera, why has this happen

Is there any easier way to edit imovie files that have been exported as mov file then added to FCE 4?? As every move I make has to be rendered and takes forever??? Also my recording is going out of focus without me touching the camera, why has this happened any idea what causes this??

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • One day it just stopped focusing and the pictures are blurry.  If I switch it to the front camera it works well and looks like it should but when I turn it back it goes back to being out of focus and I can't figure out how to fix it?

i installed ios 7.after  that my primary cam, one day it just stopped focusing and the pictures are blurry.  If I switch it to the front camera it works well and looks like it should but when I turn it back it goes back to being out of focus and I can't figure out how to fix it?

This advice will sound like a joke or prank, but believe me it worked on my iPhone 5 and my daughter's.  The lens mechanism got stock on each of our iPhones.  We found a post on these message boards that said to hold the iPhone about 6 inches above a table or counter top and drop it so that it lands flat on it's back.  Now try the camera ...Fixed!  It has been more than six months now and neither of our iPhones have ever experienced the problem again.

  • When using video camera on iPad 3 screen keeps going in and out of focus

Every time I use my video camera the image goes in and out of focus making the blurry there seems to be no settings to stop this help.

At this point, I would go for reset to its factory default condition, using the iTunes program to get a clean system install. That way you'll clean everything out and just have it set up the way it would come from the factory. You'll need to do your backup (on the iTunes program too) and be sure you understand which stuff will be saved and which will not (from the links below). Also turn off any anti-virus program you may have on your desktop. Then when you reset it to the factory default condition, don't restore your backup just yet ... until you check it out without your data put back on it. Verify its operation first, to make sure that you know it's okay. Hopefully everything is okay at that point, otherwise you'll have to take it into Apple to check it out for any hardware failure.
Here are the links, and the last one pertains to the reset to factory default condition ...

  • How do i use my FaceTime camera as a web cam?

I am trying to figure out how to use the facetime camera on my macbook pro as a web cam with non apple users. Please help.

If you are trying to use Flash based web sites that you open in your browser, there is no difference in operation regardless of whether your webcam is being viewed by a PC or by another Mac user.  However, if you are having problems with Flash sites, verify that your Flash plug-in is the latest one that is compatible with your system.
      • You can find the latest Flash version that works with your OS X 10.7.3 using this page:
          http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
If you need to update, use your Mac's Disk Utility to repair permissions.  Then follow Adobe's instructions here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/908/cpsid_90893.html
Be sure to uninstall your current Flash player before installing the new one.
Repair permissions again immediately following installation of the updated Flash player.
      • Be aware that the current Flash Player Preferences can  be configured in your
Lion Mac's  > System Preferences... These settings may be blocking Flash on a system-wide basis.
      •  Individual Flash settings are still configured in the same way as older versions:

  • Giant windows, sort of out of focus

I'm not quite sure what's wrong with my computer. I stopped using it for a minute so it was sleeping and I hit the power button to start using it again. I've done this plenty of times before with no problem. When I turned it back on it had reverted to my old desktop picture and all of the windows and applications were way too big. I restarted it and my newer desktop picture came back but the windows remained large and slightly out of focus. I've tried just dragging them to make them smaller again but it just sort of crops the image intead of fixing the problem. Someone told me it might be a resolution problem but I'm not sure that it is and also not sure how to fix it if that's the case. Any ideas? Thanks!

  • I take a lot of people shots and have way too many out of focus pics.

I have way too many out of focus shots.  I usually use tv mode with the shutter set at least 250 with the anti shake on.  I know there is a balance of aperature, iso and they seem to be close enough for lighting but the out of focus drives me nuts. This is the most important aspect of a pic in my opinion. I have sent my T2i in for focus issues two times and cannot tell a difference.  Any suggestions????
    Solved!

We'd probably have to see your shots with EXIF data to provide a specific response.
Canon did a 3-part video on how the AF system works with B&H Photo.  You can find the videos on YouTube... here's the link to part I:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAx86nblZ2g
I seem to recall each part is about 30 minutes, but well worth the time in what you'll learn about the focus system that you might not have known.
A LOT of factors can result in out of focus images.  Camera movement (slow shutter speed during a hand-held shot) is just one of many possibilities.

  • Image files with large pixel dimensions display out of focus in a Bridge viewer?

I Create image files with pixel dimensions 2048x1365. When I display these files from Bridge on my Mac, either by pressing the space bar or in a slideshow, the images are out of focus. If I left click or click/hold and move the images slightly on screen they display in sharp focus. Unfortunately, although landscape-orientation images display correctly with no change in position or size, portrait-orientation files are enlarged and display with top and bottom off the screen. The pixel dimensions of my monitor are 2450x1600 so, yes, if portrait images are displayed at 100% they should display off screen, but this does not excuse the out of focus display of landscape files on this large screen. Nor does this explain why the portrait files are out of focus when they fit on screen. When the same files open in a Camera Raw window they are in focus. When they open in Photoshop at 100% the files are in focus.

  • FaceTime camera low quality, not recognising screen flash.

Sorry if this has been mentioned previously in another thread. But is anyone else experiencing this from their MacBook Pro? I have an early 2013, Retina MacBook Pro that I purchased at MacMall in March. Since I purchased the laptop, I have noticed that the picture quality is really bad and that the Photo Booth screen flash no longer is picked up by the FaceTime camera like it was on my previous unibody MacBook Pro from late 2008. Is anyone else having the same issue?
I have gone to the Apple Store to get it repaired, the Genius recognised the problem and submitted the laptop to have the screen repaired and the clamshell replaced. Once I got the computer back however, the problem was still not resolved. I took it in once more to the Apple Store, this time I was helped out by two other Genius members, but they told me they could see no discernible difference with the picture quality compared to the other MacBooks in the store. They also said that the flash was working even though it clearly is not.
I called Apple again after I left the Apple Store with no resolution and spoke to a Customer Sevice Specialist who thought the problem was uncommon and she had me download the Capture Data program to send to the engineers. She also had me do a clean instal and she requsted that we would do a partition and try the camera again. I did the clean instal, which took an hour or two of my time. She did not get back to me after about a week or two, so I contacted Apple again and was assigned to yet another Specialist. This time he made me do everything over again. I did the clean instal. I did the partition. I sent Apple the Capture Data several times. He promised me he would get to the bottom of this and find solution. The engineer determined that I needed to uninstal CleanMyMac2 and MacKeeper from my computer because the programs might have been deleting essential data require for the camera to operate properly.
However after deleting the two programs from my MacBook and following the Specialist's instructions, the photos on my FaceTime camera still came out dark, the camera still did not pick up the built in screen flash.
My photos look like the ones below regardless of whether the flash is turned off or on.
After a day or two, the second Specialist called me back and told me that the engineer he was working with determined that the screen flash feature built into Photo Booth is a novelty feature. That is, a feature designed by Apple not to work properly. Has anyone else gotten a resolution from Apple on this? I just want my FaceTime camera to work properly on my premium Apple product. I mean, I did spend a lot of money on this and I want it to work as advertised. Any advice or suggestions on this would be helpful.
All the creepy photos below were taken on my MacBook Pro Retina with screen flash enabled and disabled via the PhotoBooth application:

Here is an image taken on my 15" MacBook Pro Retina. Notice the blurry quality of the photo. The colours are dull.
Here are an image take from the 13" MacBook Pro Retina I bought as a gift. Notice the photo is crisper and the colours are more vibrant.
