My Facetime wont let me sign in?

I just recently downloaded Facetime on my Macbook Air Version 10.6.8 and i typed in my Apple ID and it doesnt let me sign in.
It says "Could not sign in. Please check your network conection and try again."
Do i need to update my computer or what?

1. Make sure software is up to date
2. Make sure FaceTime is enabled; Settings>FaceTime
3. Make sure Date and Time is correctly set; Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>On
4. Make sure Push Notification is enabled
5. Make sure phone number or email address is correct
6. Hold the Sleep and Home button down (together) until you see the Apple Logo

    I signed out of my MobleMe and it wont let me sign back in. I have been trying to see what I can delete from my Icloud so I don't have to buy storage, so my phone will back up. I have hardly anything on my phone for apps my largest is camera which is 2.0GB. The rest are small MB or less. I tried to sign out of my moble me account and i know the password and account name which is saved under the keychain access on my comp. but now when I try to sign back in it says my account name is invalid and or my password is incorrect. What in the world do i do now???

    Updating Snow Leopard won't help.  You need to Upgrade OS X to Lion or higher if your system will support it.  First check to see if your system meets the system requirements to upgrade.
    Lion system requirements are:
    Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space

    If you can run Mavericks, you can download a free upgrade from the Mac App Store.  If your system can only run Lion, or you need Mountain Lion rather than Mavericks for software compatibility reasons, youcan contact the online store at the number shown at the bottom of this page and purchase a redemption code to download it from the Mac App Store.

    Firefox 3.6 wont let me sign in to my Google acc any more, so I cant use Bookmarks etc now, on XP pro or Vista home(we have 2laptops) I am also getting the msg URL not valid/cant connect, even thought I try to load from my 2nd Tab with the 9 pages on it. I put firefox on all my pals&family's laptops & now its happening on theirs also, and I keep getting asked to upgade to the latest version.....I did this last year Version 7 I think but it didnt work well so I had to go back to Firefox 3.6. I do realise that the 3.6 is getting old and will have to be replaced, but which version to choose as there are so many??? I need the new Firefox to work as good with Google search,Bookmarks etc and Utube, TV & iplayers and MSN Games online, So do I fix this one or download a new one as I will have to for the others also,We use XP Pro & Vista mainly.     Google changed the logon URL for various services and the Google Toolbar is trying to logon to the wrong domain. Google isn't going to be fixing the Google Toolbar add-on for Firefox, they announced back in July that they were discontinuing it for Firefox 5.0 and later versions.

    Try the following to rule out a software problem:                 
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:

    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    I downloaded the new ISO 7 to my iphone 5 and now my apple ID will not work on my phone. It wont let me send imessages or use Facetime or some apps. I have used my ID to log into my computer and this site so i know it isnt my ID. It has to be my iphone and that new software. What do i do because i really need to get this working again. My sister is at UNI and facetime is our connection. I cant sign into facetime because the phone doesnt register the apple ID

    I have a mac mini, an iphone and a MacBook pro. I have no problems using imessage and facetime in two of my devices. MacBook Pro is not letting me sign in. Facetime is sending me a message to check my network and I don't have any problem with that and imessage is doing nothing. I write my Apple ID password and it start acting like it is gonna work but nothing happen. In my phone I am trying to set availability to the Text Message Forwarding but is asking me for a code I don't have and is not sending it to the MacBook Pro either. Thanks for helping me!

    This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
    Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
    Sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your Apple devices. Log out and log back in. Try again to sign in.
    Step 3
    Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 4
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ About This Mac
    Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 5
    Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
               ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Network
    If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
    The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 7
    Select from the menu bar
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
              Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 8
    Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
    Use the search box in the toolbar of the Keychain Access window to find and delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name. Log out and log back in.
    Step 9
    Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 10
    Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you start up, and again when you log in.
    Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
    Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound outputand Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
    The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
    Test while in safe mode. After testing, restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
    If iMessage worked in safe mode, but still doesn't work when you restart in "normal" mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 11
    Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/com.apple.apsd.plist
    Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
    from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash.
    *If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
    from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 12
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 13
    Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).
    Step 14
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 15
    If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support. When you set up a support call, select "Apple ID" as the product you need help with, not the hardware model. That way, if you're not under AppleCare, you may be able to talk your way out of being charged for the call.

    I just got my new I pad, entered all of my information.. after confirmingm y account I realized I had put in the wrong email address. I went on my laptop to change my apple id address, then went to my ipad to purchase an app and it still had my old(incrrect) email address. I typed in the password anyway and it would not let me sign in. I only gave it one password so I don't know why it is saying my password is incorrect. Anywho, THis ipad is a pain in the ***. NEver had a mac before and already its a pain in the ***. I have read a couple of threads that are not really helpful. I read one thread on this site that showed a lady with my similiar issue and she did not get the answer she was looking for. Can some one help me so I can change the apple I.D. on my ipad.     i just opened my ipad, started my apple account/I.D. and realized I put the wrong e mail. I was having trouble correcting my I.D on the Ipad so I went to my laptop and make the proper changes/slash e mail address I wanted for my apple ID. I got back to my ipad and try to download an app I can't because I have to sign in my apple account and I can't because it still has the irrelivant I.D/email address..
    So, i did what you said.. went to setting>app store> tapped on my e mail.. it asked me to sign in (with my invalid emails address showing). I signed in with the password I had created. It said "incorrect".. I went to reset password. I reset password, tried to sign in and it says again "unvalid password".. this is getting irritating.  I have been asking and no one knows what to do.
