my fan is extremely loud when i stream videos...is this normal? My laptop is only a month old

It isn't uncommon that your fan should run when streaming videos, especially flash.
Is you laptop properly ventilated ? ----> If it's resting on the bed, cushion, carpet or some other soft surface that could be blocking the vents, or which doesn't allow heat to dissipate, your laptop will heat up more than usual, and hence the fan will have to run faster.
Is your laptop on a cool surface that is ventilated? (like a wooden table)?
Are you running Lion? Ever since I upgraded to Lion my fan is almost always running, video or not.

When using safari my Mac gets extremely loud. No flash content, no video. It can be sitting there untouched just with safari open and out of no where the fans kick in and loud. What can I do to solve this issue?

To remove a forgotten Restrictions passcode you will need to either...
    1)  Restore the Device as New...  See Section 6 here...

    OR...
    2)  From a Backup created Before the Restrictions Code was set....

  • I'm wondering if anyone else has had problems with their imac fans being extremely loud when running at slow speeds?  When the computer heats up enough for the fans to run at higher speeds they quiet down. New HD fan was just installed.

I have an imac that I've had for a couple years.  The fans have always been loud when running at the slower speeds.  When the computer heats up enough for the fans to run at a higher speed the fans quiet down.  I had installed SMC fan control after multiple attempts with Apple to get the fan issue resolved.  That seemed to keep the fans quiet enough.  I've never had a problem with overheating.  Recently the fans were becoming loud again even running at the slightly higher speeds so I took it to my local Apple store and they replaced the hard drive fan.  I got it back and it's now as loud or louder than ever!!  And, now SMC fan control won't "stick."  The fans will speed up, but then gradually go back to the lower "loud" levels.  I'm at a loss as to what to do next.

    Thanks jared,
I'm still dealing with this issue through Apple. Some time after I posted this, I contacted Apple again. They did start a case up for me, as I was experiencing the same behavior on two different machines, with two different versions of Windows.
So far it remains unsolved. I've logged iClouds for Windows on my desktop, which is brand new, then logged for awhile after completely uninstalling Norton Security Suite, depending on the Microsoft security for some time, and finally logged after I uninstalled iCloud for Windows, restarted, installed a clean download, and connected using a completely different test account, which Apple set up for me. None of this made any difference. Looking at the logs, it seems every 10 minutes, iCloudServices.exe creates a new TCP connection to confirm I'm using less than 5GB on iCloud, (which I am by a good margin, using less than 2GB), it seems this connection is not closed, and when the next iteration rolls around 10 minutes later, a new TCP connection is created. I come very close to having 6 TCP connections created per hour, until I restart my computer. This works out to... 6 x 24 = 144/day.
Perhaps the article you posted will shed some further light on this. I'm thinking seeing the state of the connection through netstats, at the least, could help.
For the last week, I've been putting a hold on further logging, as Apple wants me to create a new user account on one of my computers, install iCloud for Windows there, and log it running in the other account. This however basically means I cannot use my computer for a fair number of hours, and I've been busy enough with work the past week that I haven't the time or energy to afford to set this up and run it. I've had need of my computers too much for the past week.

Is there any way I can stop the Apple TV from reverting back to the home screen when I pause the video I’m watching?

  • Sound interruption when watching streaming video

I have an Apple TV and use it to watch Netflix and Youtube.  After upgrading to ios 8,  I experienced frequent sound interruptions when watching streaming video
Has anyone else experienced this problem?  I have a third generation Apple TV.

I was able to fix the sound issue by changing the resolution to "720P -HD" instead of "Auto".  Not ideal but it works.

  • Cpu fan is extremely loud

    Hello,
I have a 5,1 mac pro and recently my 2nd cpu failed me and i took it off.
After that i have extremely loud fun noiz on the cpu heat sinks, if both of them installed or at one  if its alone.
Is that because i run it without CPU on B tray?

Without a working CPU in that socket, the measured temperature is out-of-range. To avoid melting your equipment, the fans will run at top speed when a sensor like that one shows out of range.
Those CPUs are readily available. Get another one, or upgrade both to a slightly faster one, to get your machine back to "normal".

  • My MacBook Pro (Early 2011) keeps freezing, the fan becomes extremely loud and the laptop gets very hot, what can I do?

    Hi there,
I would be grateful if any one could help me. I purchased my MacBook Pro  13 Inch in August 2011, it was the "Early 2011" version, which was shipped with Lion (I have now upgraded it to Mountain Lion last year).
Up until a few weeks ago, it was running fine. But recently my MacBook keeps freezing (A circular rainbow appears on the cursor), slowing down, the fan gets very loud and I often have to restart the whole machine. This usually happens when I'm running programs such as Safari, Preview or Microsoft Word
I only use my MacBook for university work so I only have Microsoft Office and iWork installed, nothing else. I've only used 19gb out of the 320gb available. I've also reseted my MacBook to its factory settings but that hasn't fixed the problem.
I've checked my AppleCare status and it says:
    Repairs and Service Coverage: Active
Your product is covered for eligible hardware repairs and service under a custom agreement.
For more information about your coverage, please contact us.
Estimated Expiration Date: 24 August 2014
I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to how I can resolve these problems, as it is stopping me from doing my work?
    Many thanks.

Call Apple and make a appointment, backup your use data off the machine to a external drive.
Don't bother with TimeMachine if it asks, too long and likley be corrupted and unable to restore, just drag and drop your Users folder to the external drive.

  • Fan comes on when watching streaming video

Every time I watch any streaming video content the fans on my computer immediately come on. Does not seem to happen any other time. Even when I have several audio programs running or multiple internet windows open. If I have only one program open (Safari or Mozilla in this case) with one tab, and run a streaming video the fans immediately come on. Which means it is happening even when the computer is under a relatively light load. Any ideas?

Open Activity Monitor and see what's using all the CPU, you might be surprised to see how much the Flash Player (Safari Internet Plug-In) is actually using ...

  • GS70 Stealth Pro bought last month Fan speed EXTREMLY LOUD

i took a video of the sound speed
idk whats going on its extremly loud is very scary. Is there any way i can fix it my self? because i need the laptop
also if i send it to msi in calli how long will it take? for this to fix it and send it back

i do agree with darkhawk, your laptop has got an defected fan, what it sounds like is it's being pressed and that middle part of fan is forcing the fan to spin causing that sound and also wouldnt be suprised if the fan blades are scraping against metal cover above and under fan part since fans have 2 metal plates so yeah.

  • Fan is unusually loud when im using my computer

I just got my computer repaired for a fan problem now when i use it after 5 min or so the fan comes on loud. all im doing is surfing the net and using messengers. anyone know why?

i would try power cycling the machine. unplug the cord from where it goes into the power supply at the back of the machine. wait a few minutes, and then plug it back in. if that doesn't help i would do a pmu reset. you could also boot to open firmware holding apple-option-o-f and type in the following commands--
    reset-nvram (hit return)
    set-defaults (hit return)
    reset-all (hit return)
the last command restarts the computer. hope that helps the noise. [ 8 ) ]

  • Mac mini fan is very loud when watching a dvd

    Hi,
Just bought a Mac mini (2GBRam 2GHz intel) and when watching a dvd the fan spins very loud which gets very annoying! Is this normal for watching dvd's on the Mini as I have a Macbook with similar specs and there is not much sound from that when watching dvd's. I installed 10.5.1 on the Mini and the Macbook still has 10.4.11...Any ideas?

The reset is always worth trying, just in case the problem is in the system controller. However, I'm not sure that I'd blame MacOS itself for the problem, because it does not appear to be similarly reported elsewhere. As such, I'd say that if you can't resolve this with a reset, you may find the next best option is an erase and install of Leopard, followed by downloading and installing the 10.5.1 update from http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1051update.html
Of course, since an erase and install wipes the hard drive, it is essential you back up your data before you do this!

  • Airport Extreme's support for streaming video NOT reliable for RealPlayer

AIRPORT EXTREME BASE STATIONS DO NOT RELIABLY PROVIDE STREAMING SUPPORT USING NORMAL TRANSPORTS FOR REALPLAYER.
Based on a problem I've had for a long time and information provided in RealPlayer OnLine Help, it appears that the Airport Extreme Base Stations do not reliably provide streaming support using normal transports for RealPlayer.
HERE'S THE REASON FOR CONCLUDING THAT
Even after updating with the latest software and firmware available for my Airport Extreme Base Station, RealPlayer will not play streaming video when my iMac is online via my Airport Extreme Base Station.
(The configuration is iMac (non-wireless) --> Ethernet cable --> Airport Extreme Base Station --> DSL modem.
Note that with that configuration I can browse the internet and play audio through RealPlayer - even though I cannot play streaming video.
In contrast, when my iMac is connected directly to my DSL modem via an Ethernet cable, then I have no trouble playing streaming video in RealPlayer.
HERE'S THE "WORK AROUND" SOLUTION I'M USING
In RealPlayer/Preferences/Transport, I selected to use HTTP transport exclusively.
Here's where to find details of that solution in RealPlayer's OnLine Help:
In RealPlayer's Help menu, choose RealPlayer Online Help. Scroll down the left side of RealPlayer's help window to find the section Troubleshooting -> Network/Connectivity -> Wireless Issues.

I found the aforementioned "work around" solution in a posting in this forum by Greg Robbins on Sep 2, 2005.

I am posting this topic to clarify the deficiency in Airport Extreme, and to help keep this solution available for the Mac community.

  • Volume extremely loud using earphone in video or v...

bq aquaris E 4.5 with stock Android 4.4.2 and WiFi (home/office network), Skype v5.1.0.57240
When I use my "One For All mobile in-ear gel buds with integrated microphone" to talk with Skype, video call or voice call using WiFi, the volume is extremely loud making almost impossible to use the earphone. I have searched for answers in Skype community blog and in Internet in general, but I have not fund how to fix it.
Another question is that I saw in the features of Skype for android that you mention using Skype with 3G. Here in Spain, I have tried but both doesn't work, video and voice call.

That still doesn't explain why Flash alone is far louder than all other audio sources.  And even a DVD source has its own volume control given Windows 7's per-application mixer controls.  That's the only thing that's made this all bearable.  So API or no API, something has caused Flash to be much louder than other sources.

  • Invalid Resource when accessing streaming video from PC

When I File > SHARE > HTTP Streaming Video, FCP creates a number of files & folders to place on my Web site.  When I go to access the streaming video from my MAC, it works.  However, when I attempt to access it from a PC, I get the message "Invalid Resource".  What am I missing or doing wrong?

I too am having serious problems with streaming from Apple TV2 to a newer quad core iMac running the most current version of Lion.  I am using Time Capsule as the wireless network device and have a high-speed DSL modem with 12/mbs download.
I have my iMac directly connected to the Time Capsule with an ethernet cable, and an ethernet cable directly to the router (Actiontec Q1000).  With the Airport Utility on my iPhone, I can see the Time Capsule as well as the wireless devices connecting to it, including the Apple TV 2. BTW, I can't even see my wireless devices with the new Airport Utility, need to use 5.6 to even see the devices.
The connection is listed as EXCELLENT, and when you check the speed of the connection, initially the Apple TV 2 shows a 65/mbs connection, but the minute you try to connect to Home Sharing, it drops to 1 mbs. So I don't think interference is an issue at all as no other device that connects wirelessly to my network has any problems. Very frustrating.  Went into Apple and they replaced the original Apple TV with a new one, same problem. I think the issue is somewhere between the Time Capsule and Apple TV2.  When I brought the new one home last week, it worked GREAT for like one day, then whenever you try to connect to your home library, it never loads, and with the 1 mbs speed, I can see why it's taking forever.  Anyone willing to help would be much appreciated.
