My Fault!!  Deleted ALL Playlists! Now Cant Sync Songs!!

I deleted every play list (even the ones that came with the itunes download), then i created one play list. Now i can't sync my songs. Here is the message:
"Songs on the iPod "ipod's name" cannot be synced because all of the playlists selected for syncing no longer exist."
What on earth can I do to fix this?!

To change the settings in iTunes 7 connect your iPod and when it appears in the Source list left click on the iPod icon to bring up the preference tabs in the main pane. Go to the Music tab and choose Sync Music and the Selected playlists radio button. If you made a new playlist to update from choose the playlist you just made from the selection and click Apply. You can also sync from any existing playlists by choosing the same setting, you just need to make sure that the size of the playlists don't exceed the capacity of your iPod.

You should use your backup copy of your computer to put everything on the new computer.
The sync is one way - computer to ipod.
The ipod will sync with one computer at a time. Syncing to another will erase teh content from the ipod.

What do you mean " back up my photos or Apps"?
The photo sync is one way - computer to ipad.
You can transfer itunes purchases.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases
Copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

If your phone (plus syncing) is the only place you keep your pictures you are asking for trouble, theft or not. Back up onto an external hard disk which is only mounted when you need it, then nothing external can erase them. Then make use of Apple's facilities for protecting your phone:

  • ITunes 11.0.2.26 deletes all music, won't sync

This version of iTunes, version 11.0.2.26, syncing to my iPhone 4, iOS 6.1.3, using Windows XP Pro, just deleted all my songs from my iPhone, and will not restore the songs onto the phone when syncing.  The song library and playlists are all displaying in iTunes, and the automatic sync is ON, with MATCH OFF--always has been off;  I only sync via cable to my computer.  Even when setting sync to manual for songs, they do not transfer over.  Extremely strange, and very very frustrating.  Your help would be greatly appreciated...and SOON since I have NO music on my iPhone!  Thank you.

Hmmm...so after several syncs, resyncs, checking, unchecking and restarts... all of a sudden the audiobooks loaded.  Then, I fidgeted some more, and presto, my music started resyncing.  I wish I could say I know which single item was the fix... no idea. I did go back to the downstairs laptop and did the same things. Whatever, it's working now.  So, if you read this and are having the same issue, just keep trying until some overall fix is determined.  And if you charge your phone on a different computer than your maing syncing computer, be sure everything related to sync is turned OFF for that second computer.

  • ITunes keeps deleting all info, now can't restore from Time Machine because there is not enough memory?

I have had this reaccuring problem where my iTunes will whipe out all the info in it. No reason as this is a standard Mac with the intel processors. The only upgrade I have done is to get it to Lion 10.8.whatever. The past several times this has happened, I've been able to restore the entire iTunes file from the 1TB external drive I use only for Time Machine. After it whiped out iTunes again last night, it would not let me restore and kept giving me a message that said I did not have enough start-up memory. I went in and deleted a bunch of old videos and it still kept giving me the memory message. I was able to break down some of the files into smaller portions (i.e. apps A-G, then H-M, etc) but could not get any of the actual music to transfer over. I deleted iTunes and reinstalled it to no avail. I have over 30,000 songs, 200+ music videos, a couple dozen movies, and several seasons of TV shows in my iTunes.
Any and all assistance would be appreciated!

DocDoc, that worked. I read that page and it meantioned how to exactly click what. I'm not sure why TM is so particular, but nevertheless, I was able to open a finder window pre-TM, click on my new hard drive. Then I opened TM and again, clicked on my hard drive in that finder window. Then navigated to the folder I wanted, which was the applications folder.
The "now" image wouldn't do anything when right clicked (on aperture.app) except offer to get info or to delete all backups of aperture. I almost gave up, figuring the purpled out timeline (as previous) on TM was bunk. I couldn't go backwards to a previous image before.
But having navigated that exact way somehow made TM happy. A previous image about 1 month ago was able to be saved to my application folder. 986megs or something like that in a few seconds. When TB works, it zips right along.
I don't care for how persnickety TM is, but am glad it worked nevertheless. Thanks for your help.

    Hey Mr_M_J_Simmons,
Thanks for the question. It may be necessary to re-create your iTunes Library, as this may salvage your previous playlists:

  • My iPod has deleted all its music (not synced to itunes)

    Hi,
I just updated to the new iTunes and my iPod has deleted all its content.
My iPod is not synced to my itunes or laptop, so I just manually put it on.
Has my music been lost? If so, can I get it back? Anyone know how it deleted by itself!? I was uploading music, ejected the device and when I went to play music there was nothing on it.
    Thanks

An iPod has a hard drive inside. Like a hard drive in a computer, it can have data corruption that cause files to be lost. It is really not wise to keep music and other media on the iPod without it being backed up on the computer. You can easily break or lose your iPod, or the iPod could have data issues like the one your experienced.
The cause may be a hardware problem. It can also be data only, which means using Restore on your iPod may make it work properly again. The only way to know is to use iTunes to Restore the iPod, which will erase the iPod and initialize the iPod's software.
Going forward, you should store your media on your computer and sync it to the iPod. Additionally, you should back up the valuable data (and not just iTunes data) on your computer.

  • Iphone deleted all phone numbers when synced with Exchange, Please Help!!

We recently received new Iphones for the Administrative staff and thought that like other Smartphones we've used in the past that syncing with Exchange would be a breeze. After doing a bit of research everything pointed towards it being a very simple process, this is the process I followed:
Open up Itunes with Iphone connected
Click your iPhone in the "Devices" section on the left
    Click the "Info" tab
In the Contacts section, check "Sync contacts with" and select "Outlook"
    Click "All Contacts"
Click the "Sync" button in iTunes lower-right corner
Click "Merge", so that your contacts on your iPhone are preserved
This seemed to work but there is one major problem, all of the contacts on the Iphone and the ones imported into Outlook no longer have any phone numbers associated to them. The contacts were all synced into Outlook/Exchange no problem with their respective emails but with no phone numbers at all. Unfortunately the computer which had the backup of this Iphone was recently decommissioned so I have no backup of the phone in its previous state.
Is there any way to recover the old phone numbers/contacts on the phone without having a backup of it in its previous state? I have tried the "Import Sim Contacts" button in the settings on the phone but it doesn't seem to actually do anything. There are over 100 contacts on this particular phone, some of which the phone numbers will be very difficult to retrieve again.
I have to say that I'm not very impressed that the most popular smartphone out there can't even sync with the largest email platform in the enterprise world properly. If anybody can help me retrieve those numbers some how I would be extremely appreciative.

So is this not a common issue?
This is the first I have heard of it... but I'm only one person.
    tbradley wrote:
Does the Iphone actually support 2-way sync with Outlook properly or will it erase all of the numbers on the phone every time?
If you are syncing directly with Outlook, there are options in iTunes to determine which set of contacts takes priority when duplicates are found.  Personally I do not use this.  I have my device set up to sync directly with the exchange server so all changes are made directly on the server.
Personally I would recommend against using Outlook as the intermediary.  You will get much more consistent and reliable results if the iPhone syncs directly with the exchange server and no worries if the end user has not synced the device in days/weeks/months.

  • I cant sync songs to my iPad Mini

So today I was trying to sync songs to my iPad Mini and it wont sync as you can see in the above image. It shows that cross sign. Now that file is completely compatible with the iPad beacuse I had synced that song before and it got removed accidently. No songs cant be synced! The songs that are already there are which I purchased using my apple id. There was no problem until I deleted the songs through the iPad (by sliding to the right and deleting) or maybe after I clicked the "Sync music library of itunes" Afterwards I disabled that option but still I cant copy songs. I am using an external software called SynciOS to copy songs now. But it cant edit the tags of the songs. When I check itunes for editing the song tags (the songs are not copyrighted), it dosent allow me. When I click the tabs like Summary it doesnt allow me to type anything in it. I have tried reset to factory settings but it dosent help. SOME BODY PLZ HELP

Check your Restrictions. Do you have Explicit turned off?
Settings>General>Restrictions>under Allowed Content>Music & Podcasts....do you see the word "Explicit" next to them? If not, then click on that and turn Explicit ON. Or, turn off Restrictions altogether.
    Cheers,

  • How To Delete All Of An iPod's Songs At Once?

I have an iPod Touch 5th Generation. NOTE: I'm not asking to completely restore the iPod. I just downloaded the new iOS and it was a pain in the you-know-where. I just want to get all of the songs on there off of it at once so I can just plug it in to my new computer and put the songs on there on the iPod. Thank you.

To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
Note that you can only sync with one computer. If you want to change syncing computers you have to:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
That included backing up to iTunes and restoring from that backup

  • I cant sync songs it says error

i cant sync it says unknown error (-50)

    Hello kobefrombc,
Take a look at this article named iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694#error50
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
    Cheers,
    Sterling
