My fcp movie's come out grainy er than my imovie's
Please help! I 've just bought fcp6.0.1 and use an panasonic dvx100b to shoot on. I've used this camera with imovie and created and exported to mp4 which I then uploaded to youtube! It Looked great! When I started using fcp and created movies and exported them using quicktime coverversion:
Here are the current settings: compression H.264 . Filter keyframe 24 . frame encoding yes.mutipass size 640x480 The end result was not as clear or as crisp as the movie's made from I movie! Here are my system setting's for fcp: RT unlimited > video quality Dynamic < frame rate Dynamic > pull down pattern2;3;2;3 GAMMA CORRECTION ACCURATE . FRAME SET OFF 4 . Record full quality Capture settings Firewire NTSC < Capture input DV NTSC 48khz..........Ok.......
Where am I going wrong? anybody please help!
As an addendum, if you are anxious to get an iPhone and would rather not wait, you might want to take a look a Best Buy's new buy back offer. I haven't looked into it too closely, but they are advertising quite heavily that they will buy back when new technology comes out.

Importing Photos to FCP come out grainy and pixelated

So I've got a bunch of pictures (JPEGs) I'm trying to import into FCP. I can get them physically into the sequence, but they're grainy and crappy looking. When I view them in iPhoto, they're perfectly good looking, but when I put them in the sequence, they loo really bad. Any suggestions?

ONLY JUDGE THE QUALITY OF YOUR MATERIAL ON AN EXTERNAL BROADCAST MONITOR, OR AT LEAST A TV.
The Canvas shows you what happens after the codec you are working with has been applied. The Viewer shows you the material in its native format. Once you drop the footage from the Viewer into the timeline, it inherits the attributes of the sequence. If it is a DV sequence, the footage will render out as DV.
1. Disable overlays on the Canvas.
2. Make sure you've rendered everything (no green bars at the top of the timeline).
Video playback requires large amounts of data and many computations. In order to maintain frame rate and be viewable at a normal size, only about one-fourth of the DV data is used in displaying the movie to the screen. However, the DV footage is still at full quality, and is best viewed thru a TV or broadcast monitor routed thru your camera or deck. -
Recently updated Lightroom 5, now when I export images they come out 'grainy'. How do I fix this?

What you are seeing is a windows folder option.
In Windows 7 click the start button, choose computer then open your C drive.
From there you will see something similar to this,
Click on the sort options and choose list. Now we need to make it the default so when you look in photoshop it remains as a list.
to do that from this same window choose tools then folder options. A new window will pop up called folder options on the second tab called View is an all folders button, this will apply this view to all folders. if you have Photo shop open close it re-open it and how you will always get the view you want. -
Hi. I am not technically proficient. I have somehow hit something that is making my email forwards and text to the printer way smaller than what is appearing on my screen. I have looked into everything I can think of in settings and outlook express. If you have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate them. I assume that one click and I'll be back to "normal", but can't figure out which darned click that would be. Thanks.
Have you checked Outlook's font preferences? You can change to size under General Preferences>Fonts. You can also change font sizes by using ⌘shift+

Anamorphic flick exported to FCP movie is 4:3

Why is it when I export an NTSC Anamorphic flick as FCP movie it comes out 4:3? I changed the setting to NTSC 48khz Anamorphic but it still came out 4:3, or as we say in Frenchie, "Ah, oui, pooh-pooh, *****!"
Any idears?

To Biz: Using FCP 6, I actually exported QT movie standalones (they used to call 'em FCP movies) to make dvds and for storage of quality versions of me flicks. So will it look right (16:9) in a dvd player as is, or must I do your suggestions or something else or or or maybe just beech-slap myself till I cry...?

I have a 5x7 invitation I made in illustrator. I need to export a high quality image it to a friend for her to print but everytime I export to jpeg it comes out way bigger than a 5x7. How do I send a specific size to someone? Do i need to use photoshop? Please help. Thanks!!

It sounds as if the Artboard is 8 x 10. It should fit the Artwork (at 5 x 7). -
Export Quicktime movie in FCP comes out as a Final Cut Pro Movie File
Does anyone know why when I Export Quicktime movie in FCP it comes out as a Final Cut Pro Movie File? I can still play it in Quicktime and it's possible to set the Quicktime Player as the default software, but it still says in my finder window that it is a Final Cut Pro Movie File.
Does anyone know if there are any settings for the clip to come out as a Quicktime Movie instead? Thank you!+Jim Cookman :+

In the words of the venerable Forest Gump, "Useful is as useful does" ... or something like that.
I actually use similar "icon" techniques in other areas of my workflow. But most of the time I just modify the file title for quick ID - I also use dashes & underscores to get things to stand out and stay at the top of lists etc.
But QT is my Go-To App for quick media reference and I have it set up to play almost all types off media when double clicked. I started doing it years ago when iTunes opened up every time I wanted to check a few seconds of an mp3 file.
I guess the best solution would have been for Apple to leave the "export FinalCut movie" option intact and simply add in an "export Quicktime movie" option as well. Or maybe add another drop down option for the tagging (branding).
At least we would have been able to make the workflow choices in-the-box rather than doing it with the OS.

I think using the OS is the better option rather than re-compressing your movie just so you can double click into QT.

i am dealing with a project using adobe flash cs3 and final cut pro 2 on a mac.
i am exporting a quicktime from flash and then bringing that .mov into FC to edit, add music, etc.
when i export from final cut, i see that the clip isnt as crisp as it was when i originally exported from flash?
im wondering what could be the issue. the clip itself is short, roughly ten seconds, although, even if my final result would be a 300 mb clip to still retain that perfect quality, i won't mind.
when i exported from flash, i had to do different trial and errors to get it to keep its full quality. the aspect ratio is 720X480 .. although upon export trying an NTSC it was extremly pixelated. i just ended up doing an uncompressed, no codec, quicktime export...having the final result be 350mb for ten seconds! either way, i love the final result. nice and crisp.
i brought this into final cut...heres the problem, what i am assuming is happening, is there is a setting wrong in the sequence settings. here is what i have it currently set to:
in the general tab:
frame size 720X480 NTSC DV (3:2)
pixel aspect ratio NTSC - CCIR 601
field dominace none
editing timebase 30
compressor non
quality 100%
advanced - compressor none / quality 100%
^^^ i thought maybe the whole ntsc issue is what causes the slight lower quality, considering even though it is the same aspect ratio its not dv footage but just an uncompressed flash video quicktime
^^^ i tried changing the aspect ratio next to frame size to custom/ custom (3:2) ... everytime i clicked okay, and re-opened the seq. settings, it resorted back to ntsc automatically
also the pixel aspect ratio section (the one directly under) only lets you choose ntsc , square pix, or hd - there wasn't even a custom thing to choose for that one
the problem with my final export is that is has slight artifacting on the edges of things...
maybe it isnt the sequence settings, for when i changed the settings to this, the little video box in the canvas of the fcp interface has no artifacting.
so possibly it can be the export settings in final cut?
if i do an export in FC which is an ntsc, it comes out extremly pixelated
the closest thing i can get to 100 quality is doing an uncompressed 10 bit....which is still causing the slight artifacting on the edges of objects.
any ideas of what i can do to fix this problem? it would be extremly appreciated and thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

i discovered a way,
upon export,
instead of choosing uncompressed, i chose custom,
i then typed in whatever and exported...came out clean.
i don't know what uncompressed 10 bit caused artifacting though -

Final Cut Studio 3 installed - and in FCP and Motion, video comes out white
My system meets all the requirements, I've got QT 7.6.4 (and it is pro registered). I did a fresh install of FCS3. When I load anything into an FCP project, the audio plays but video just comes out white (with the exception of an mpg I tried bringing in that did show properly). Also, in Motion, when I load a template, it shows drop zones but all of the graphics are not visible, even when going into "layers".
The video is QT clips and FCP movie (QT exports) from previous work in older versions. It does play fine in QT, so that's not the problem. I also checked and indeed RGB is selected, so it's no an alpha problem.
When I import an mpg, it shows fine in the Viewer. When I import a jpg picture into a new project, it shows as a multicoloured rough image. Video clips just show as white. If I drag that jpg down to the timeline, it shows as White in the Canvas. -
I just like to know if i rigth to my refund the movie i rent, also because took to long time to downloding, so i never watch the movie and charge come out of my account
No. Netflix is solely a streaming service and does not provide downloads. If you want downloaded movies, buy or rent from the iTunes Store. Note that in some cases people have found that rented movies still require connection to the ITunes Store to play, for reasons I have yet to figure out, so purchases are safer.

When I test the movie or upload it to the server i comes out about 60% of the full size. I do not have it scaled with the window size and I have tried everything I can think of to get it to 100%. Why should it come out smaller? I am using an iMac and CS4 professional.

The file I am loading is the SWF file plus the index.HTML file, but the problem still happens when I test the movie before uploading it.

I did sign a two year contract and completed that contract. The 3gs is no longer in service. My daughter is going overseas to protect you and your family. I was attempting to find a way for her to have a reliable phone that could offer her some connection with home as she travels through the middle east. She travels in missions all over.
At&T unlocks other phones of theirs why not the iPhone? AT&T says that Apple will not give them the code, it is not the carrier. If I would have known this situation would have come up I would have bought and unlocked 3gs phone"Deggie" . My main complaint is that Apple has not good excuse as to why they will not allow their phones to be unlocked from services well, AT&T . I bought the phone full price, completed the contract terms, even went for and iPhone 4 with another2 year contract, along with owning an apple computer... I love the product. My main issue is give me a good answer as to why you won't allow a phone to be unlocked. It doesn't hurt Apple, People still have to buy the phones from them, and use their App store and iTunes.
Sorry, just upset about my daughter heading over there, boots on the ground, and just pray she will be safe. Would have liked to facetime her while she is in the airports and in specific areas allowed for that.
Please don't come down on me for asking this question. I understand all the contracts etc.... but to single out the iPhone specifically to not unlock after contract is over does not seem fair.
