My fifth generation ipod nano wont show up on itunes... please help!

I've had my fifth generation ipod nano for about five months now. Nothing has gone wrong with it. the ipod would show up on itunes with no problem. But today i plugged it in to my computer, itunes popped up as usual, but then another pop up came:an ipod has been detected but could not be itentified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the ipod, then try again.
I unplugged and plugged my ipod several times, but nothing was fixed. I even changed the cable and did the same, but still, nothing happened. I tried resetting my ipod and then plugging it in, but nothing was fixed. then i put the ipod on disk mode and THEN tried to see if it would show up, but it still wasnt fixed.
I really need my ipod to show up on itunes!can anyone help?

I tried the troubleshooting techniques on the apple ipod suppport page for this problem and they didnt work. When I plug in my 4 GB Mini ipod, it shows up on Itunes so Its not a problem with itunes or the cable.

  • My Ipod 5 wont show up on itunes? help

So i downloaded the newest itunes today and i plug my ipod 5 to the computer and it wont come up on itunes/// i cant get no more music

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iphone wont show up in itunes. please help!!!!

hello, i just updated my iphone to ios 5 and since then it doesnt show up in itunes!!!! ive tried apples trouble shooting tips, and nothing has worked, though i havent reinstalled it as i dont want to loose everything!!
    any help would be great

Sounds like you need to put it in recovery mode and restore it, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.  You could try resetting the phone first (hold on/off and home buttons simultaneoulsy for 10-15 seconds until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the off slider that appears first) but it probably won't work.

  • Why doesn't my fifth generation ipod nano work with my Toyota Yaris?

Hello – The charging feature on my new fifth generation ipod nano doesn’t work with the factory glove compartment adapter that came with my 2008 Toyota Yaris. It plays music, etc but does not charge the ipod when connected.
My third generation nano charged perfectly with my yaris until it was run over and crushed recently. My nano gen 5 replacement doesn’t work the same with my Yaris. Can anyone help?

I cannot say for sure, I don't know anything about the toyota yaris. However, if that system was built to work with older firewire based iPods, then it will not charge new USB based units. There are converters out there you can get do deal with this.

  • My 4gb nano wont show up on itunes when i plug it in

I have a Toshiba lab top, it has worked before. And today when i tried to charge it, it took 6 hours to charge, and the computer was not hibernating ect...it still will not fully charge. I have plugged it into all of the 4 USB connections. But still when I plug it in and I pull up iTunes myself the devices column doesn't show up, which means I can't add new music pictures etc... I have tried all of the 5 r's. Can anyone help me????????

I could not get my iPod nano (3rd gen) to show up as a device in iTunes when I used my USB 2.0 port. My computer recognizes the hardware as an iPod but says the hardware may not have been installed properly and may not work. However, my 2nd gen iPod nano works just fine when connected to this very same 2.0 port using the same cable. My 3rd generation iPod nano will work and show up in iTunes if I connect it to the slower USB 1.1 port on the same computer. The 2nd gen iPod will work fine from either USB port. I suspect the USB 2.0 driver may need to be updated. But I have seen nothing that this is known problem.

  • I have videos on my ipod that wont show up in itunes!!!

There are two videos on my ipod that I want deleted but they wont show up in itunes. Can anyone help me? They take up too much space on my ipod and I want them gone without having to restore everything.

Dumb question - How did they get on your iPod if they are not in iTunes? Anyway, you can try swiping across the title and deleting it within the iPod. Then sync. If they appear to return, they are in iTunes someplace (you can search for them).

  • Ipod nano not showing up in ITunes 9.2.1.5 on Windows XP

My mom has a 4GB 1st generation nano and I've been trying to add new songs via iTunes. I have tried all the suggestions for "iPod appears in Windows but not iTunes" article and I still cannot get her ipod to show up in iTunes. The computer I'm trying to get the ipod to work on is a desktop computer running Windows XP. I tried my mom's ipod on my laptop computer thinking maybe it was a problem with the ipod or the cable. It worked just fine. I have Windows 7 running an identical version of iTunes. I'm a grad student and I'm just home for the summer. I need solve this problem and fix my mom's ipod so it will work on her own computer while I'm away. Is there anything else I can do to get her iPod to show up in iTunes?

have you tried to reset the ipod?

My ipod nano has been working fine for at least three years.  All of a sudden I get two messages.  First, "there is a problem with this drive, scan and fix it".
