Do you have access to another computer with Numbers installed?
If so, do your files open properly on that computer?
If so, then the problem is your computer itself, which is best posted in a different forum.

PDF files are OCR'd and searchable in Preview, but Spotlight is unable to find

I use Microsoft OneDrive to sync all of my scanned invoices, bills, and receipts for my business to my home and work computers. At the office I have a newer HP desktop with Windows 8.1 with OneDrive built in natively. At home I use a 4+ year old iMac running Mavericks and the OneDrive app from the Appstore. Everything syncs just fine.
The problem is that when I want to search for invoices coded to one of our job codes, "5801" for example, Spotlight is unable to locate anything. However, when I open a scanned pdf containing "5801", it is able to easily find it and highlight it within Preview.
My Windows 8.1 desktop has the ability to search "5801" and find every pdf containing "5801", so I know it's possible.
I have installed the latest OneDrive updates, removed the OneDrive folder from Spotlight indexing twice (to then reindex), and nothing has worked.
Any ideas?

Can you search on other terms in OneDrive and find results in Spotlight?
Reindex Spotlight files
Open Spotlight in System Preferences.
Verify that PDF Documents is checked.
Under Privacy add OneDrive folder, wait a bit then remove to force Spotlight to reindex your OneDrive files.
You might want to consider running the combo updater over your install to refresh your files. This has been known to fix odd issues.

Apple updates available from the Software Update application are incremental updates. Delta updates are also incremental updates and are available from Apple Downloads (software updates are generally smaller than delta updates). The Combo updates contain all incremental updates and will update files that could have become corrupted.
Combo updaters will install on the same version as they're applying--no need to roll back or do a clean install. So if you think you've got a borked 10.6.8 install from a regular update, just run the 10.6.8 Combo Updater on that system.
"Delta" updaters can only take you from one version to the next. For example: 10.6.7 to 10.6.8. If somehow the 10.6.8 is missing something it should have, and that something isn't changed between 10.6.7 and 10.6.8 it will still be stale after the delta update.

Yes, in theory re-converting would lessen the quality further. However, I have heard people claim (unsubstantiated) that if you are encoding with the same encoder at the same bit rate, then since it will use the same algorthymn, it won't really change the file. I have absolutely no idea if that is true or not.
But... I figure some slight loss in quality re-encoding is still better quality than a song that only plays half way and then stops, right? I suppose you could always tag those files in the comment section with something like "Re-Encoded" and then later if you gain access to your old CDs, you can then make a Smart Playlist to gather those songs and then re-rip them again from your CDs.

They are grayed out because they are automatically set up whey you check Mail in System Preferences. If you didn't do that, go back and do so and your iCloud email account will be set up automatically.

Dont know if accidently fixed it or not i got it to be recogniced by itune im restoring it now. i held the power/sleep button till turned off. then while holding the home button under the screen connected it to the usb wire .. also i change the usb port i was using on my computer dont know if it was luck or what but glad i got my phone back.

Bug when saving - files are all inverted and transparent

Hi there,
I've been working on a job for a few hours now and I have still have it open in photoshop CS5 extended.
Basically if I save it out in ANY format (tiff, psb, psd, jpg) it is inverted and the transparency is all messed up.. when I look at it in bridge or reopen it in photoshop or preview, it's the same.
I have the file still open in photoshop and I'm scared to close it because it looks just fine on screen but when I try to do anything it is behaving strangely. for example if I convert to CMYK it goes to the inverted image which it saves out.
I deleted all the layers I am not using and rasterized all the dynamic objects and it's still doing the same thing
Is there any way I can save my file ? I've been working on it for a long time ???

After numerous attempts to rescue the file, I ended up having to recreate it..
I think it was down to a memory bug.. I did empty the clipboard as well during the creation of the file because I was having problems.. maybe it was down to that but I think it actually just became corrupted somehow !
I must admit, it's the first time I've encountered this problem in 15 years of working with photoshop !!

HT4527 I transfered my Itunes information using a thumb drive to my new computer and downloaded the newest version of itunes to my new laptop. My songs are all there on the new computer but it won't recognize my ipod and sync.

I transfered my I tunes library to my new laptop using a thumb drive. I downloaded the newest version of Itunes to my new computer. My old ITUNES library of songs and books came across just fine. I can play them on the new laptop but they won't sync with my Ipod. The Itunes shows no devices when I hook it up to the laptop. Windows recognizes that the IPOD is hooked up. But no connection with ITUNES. Did I make a mistake in trying to sync my Itunes purchases to the new laptop before transfering the old library into the new ITUNES. If so how do I undo the problem. Please help. I use a PC with Windows XP.

HELP! My iTunes library has disappeared so when I open iTunes it's blank. All the files are still there and the data is on my iPod, how do I restore it??

HT1364 I followed this tutorial and iTunes moved my music to the specified directory on another drive, but now it doesn't show up in library. Files are all there.

I'm using Vista 32 bit and itunes 9. Don't want to upgrade to latest version.
I made the transfer with the help of itunes, but now the music while in the new directory itunes doesn't recognise it.

Solved my own problem.
Actually, I just selected all and dragged into Itunes. Didn't work at first, butsince then has worked great. I have transferred approx 58Gb. of music. I also searched through 5 other HDD's and have just put all of my music on all itunes.
I then purchased the software "tuneup media". It is currently de-dupe'ing and fixing all the mis-labeled songs.
This is the problem with newsgroups. People name stuff whatever they want. Hope this helped you.

Try cleaning the lens and see if that will restore functionality to the DVD drive. Use a DVD lens cleaning disk, if you have a can of compressed air, shoot some into the slot or wrap a fine microfiber cloth (eyeglasses cleaning cloth) around a business card and insert it gently inside the slot.
If no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and get a free diagnosis from them.

M…oSoft products aren't allowed on my machines but I use LibreOffice which is a clone of Office.
When I export from Numbers to Excel and open the result with LibreOffice, the dates are correctly treated.
To be precise, dates after 01/01/1904 are correctly treated. dates before 01/01/1904 are exported as strings but, as it's flagged during the export process, it's not surprising.

If you think getting your web pages to appear OK in all the major browsers is tricky then dealing with email clients is way worse. There are so many of them.
If you want to bulk email yourself, there are apps for it and their templates will work in most cases...

Reset the iPod and music doesn't show up... but the files are still there..

I had to reset my nano (just a soft reboot). Supposedly when you do this, you do not lose your files. Wrong! Well... not completely. The files are still there if I look under the iPod in "My Computer" but, tho iTunes recognizes the iPod, there is no music contained in it through iTunes or just using the iPod itself.
Please help!! I don't know if I changed some sort of setting or if I'm screwed here. I still have the files but I was kinda hoping not to lose my playcounts/ratings/etc.

If so, you should not have lost music. Also, why did you reset the iPod?
Anyhow, is there still music on your computer in iTunes?
If the music is in your iTunes library, restore your iPod...
Restore the iPod
Then reload everything.
If the music is not on your computer, use this to get the music off of the iPod and back onto the computer. Then restore the iPod and reload everything (once you are sure that your music is on your computer)...
