My Finder Icon in desktop invincible

My Finder Icon in my Desktop won't show up, but i can use it and the dot under it glows.
I've Tried re-booting, Safe boot aswell But it won't work. I messed up trying to change the icon picture with the iOS 7 Finder Picture, ended up that the icon not showing even in dock. It will show my Finder icon in files and it showes the new Icon that i set for the Finder icon (iOS 7)
Please Help me getting back the icon!

If you Navigate to Hard Drive (name)/System/Library/Core services does the Finder app have an icon here ?

When I login, all of my desktop items are gone, the "Finder" icon is bouncing and a message asking to restore windows is blinking but unresponsive. I can't exit out of it. What do I do? I've tried force quitting, and it doesn't get rid of it.

Additional Information
OS X automatically relaunches the Finder when it is quit. If the Finder is unresponsive, use Force Quit to relaunch it. Select Finder in the Force Quit Window or Dock, then click Relaunch.

Finder not working/No icons on Desktop

Hi everyone,
I opened up my MacBook today, and my desktop was completely empty, all my icons, including hard drive are gone.
Also, if i try clicking the Finder icon on the Dock, nothing happens, it doesn't open a window... All other applications seem to be working and I can access them from the dock. The machine seems to be working slower than usual though, freezing up for a few seconds every 10 seconds or so. The fan is also working really hard for no specific reason... Does anyone have an idea about what's wrong? Any help will be much appreciated.

Have you restarted the computer?
Do you have your install discs?
Try booting in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key while booting. This could take about 5 minutes, so be patient and hold the key until you see the login window!

Restart the computer and hold down the trackpad down.

With Macintosh Computers there is no Finder or Desktop icon for iPhone. Just unplug the iPhone. In iTunes application this is different and you can so-called eject it if you want.

My Finder icon keeps jumping. I can't open a Finder window. A message keeps popping up at the same time asking me whether or not I want to restore my Windows. Please Help, Finder Icon got dragged on desktop accidently

I accidently dragged my Finder icon from the Dock to the desktop and I don't know how to put it back into Dock. So now my Finder icon from the Dock is on my desktop and it's always on top of any application. I don't know what to do. I hope I didn't break it or anything. Someone please help :'(

Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Find the com.apple.dock.plist file in your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences folder, drag it to your Desktop, log out/in or restart and let us know what happens.
Your Dock should return to default appearance and the Finder should once again reside on the Dock.

That is the Java Quick Starter, a couple of options for you:
# Open the add-ons manager (in the Tools menu select Add-ons)
# In the list of Extensions, click on Java Quick Starter to select it, then click on Disable
When you re-start Firefox that should stop the error.
The second option is to re-install Java. You are using an old version of Java so it is recommended that you install the latest version, available from http://java.com/

Finder icon on dock pixelated following installation of Parallels Desktop 6x?

Shortly after installing Parallels Desktop 6x, I noticed the Finder icon (in the dock) was pixelated. I uninstalled Parallels Desktop but the appearance persists?

In coreservices you can click on the finder.app and then right click on it or hit command I.
You will then see the icon in the upper left hand corner. When you click on that icon it will turn blue meaning that it can be copied or you can paste a different icon in.
When finder.app is in coreservices you can not change the icon. The best is to make a copy of finder.app and put it on the desktop you should then be able to change it.
But it does not work for the finder icon it is locked by the os.
This is where the icon is located.
/System/Library/CoreServices/Dock.app/Contents/Resources/finder.png

That's the metadata server, used by Spotlight. AFAIK, Spotlight does not index audio CDs, so what is this about? I don't know. Maybe it's the cause of what you observe; or maybe it's another symptom. Thinking again of the network issue… have you maybe installed some third-party software related to both Spotlight and the network (Searchlight perhaps)?

Finder icon stuck on desktop

Hi all. My Finder icon is stuck on the desktop, can't be clicked and dragged and shows through all open windows. I read a post where the same exact thing happened to someone else and a response suggested he/she start a "test" account and see if the same issue existed. Miraculously, everything went back to normal after this.
My question is, what's the way to fix the problem, I'm assuming opening a test account isn't the answer.

I suppose I answered my own question. I simply restarted my machine.

The Finder Icon "jumped" off my dock..how do i get it back?

Hi. I just got my new MacBook earlier today and I was moving some of the dock icons around and somehow the Finder icon "jumped" off the dock and is now no longer selectable. It just sits on the desktop and hovers above all other programs but behind the dock. I can't click on it or move it or even select it using the lassoo, so any ideas what I could try? Or anybody have a clue what happened/has this happened to anyone before?

It's not like it's something I could've manually removed. I've tried moving the finder before and you can't do it. (this isn't my first OS X mac)

Try trashing this preference file and reboot.
HD > User > Library > Preferences > com.apple.dock.plist

How Can I Remove the Finder Icon From the Dock?

Hi! Can someone tell me how to remove the Finder icon from the dock? I don't even care if Finder quits. I just want it removed from the dock. I really don't care if I can't get to my files. Please help.

Start by going to your core services, (/system/library/coreservices). You can do this by pressing Shift+Cmd+G and then paste (/system/library/coreservices), without parentheses.
After doing this, find Dock.app, right click, show package contents. This doesn't contain the icons on your dock, just finder and trash.
After that, move all finder services to the desktop, and then erase them from the core services folder. At this point it will prompt you to put in your password, do so.
Next you'll want to open terminal and type 'killall dock' or, you could restart your computer.
This should remove the finder icon from your dock, while still giving you access to it from your desktop.

Two finder icons in my dock and other issues

For some reason, in my dock, two finder icons are appearing. The default finder icon, which is not running and has no white indicator under it, and a default application style icon that launches right after login with the label "Finder" which is basically the finder but launches like a third party application?! When I quit the running finder icon, the finder restarts, so this second icon really is running as the finder!
Also: When i click on the trash it no longer opens, when I try to empty the trash from the dock nothing happens, and (this is the best part) when I click and hold on a stack, and select "Show in finder", Entourage launches and tries to compress that folder in an email message. Super bizarre! Like really bizarre.
Please any help would be great before I do something drastic like archive and install.

Welcome to Apple Discussions, burbaget.
Create a new account, name it "test" and see how your apps work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.) This account is just for test, do nothing further with it.
Open System Preferences >> Accounts >> "+" make it an admin account.
If the problem is present in the test account also, then it is systemwide. In this case try repairing this with the 10.5.5 Combo Update This is a fuller install, as opposed to an incremental "delta" update so it should overwrite any files that are damaged or missing. It does not matter if you have applied it before.
Remember to Verify Disk before update and repair permissions after update from /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility.
If the problem does not appear in the test account try starting in "Safe Mode" (It will take a bit more time to startup because it runs a directory check first).
If that works go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items and remove them. Boot normally and test. If there are still problems, go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving /Users/Home)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.
