My finder window backgound keeps changing back to white after I restart

I know this is only aesthetic but I like to differentiate each finder window (all in icon view) with a different background, photo, unusual color,e.g., I have a shelf background for my application window, a photo background for my photo window, etc. So why the heck doesn't it retain my background preference after I restart the computer?

Please help! It is bothering me a lot!

No, an external drive will not always be mounted. If the drive goes to sleep, it can unmount, or it may unmount for other reasons. As Chris said, confim that the drive is mounted and active before launching iTunes.

  • Time keeps changing back two hours!

Ipod touch 4th gen. The time zone is set to Monterey (Tennessee). They have the same time as we do in Crossville. My Ipod keeps changing the time back two hours for some reason. So right now, its 9:26. My ipod says it's 7:26. I can change it back manually, but it just changes back. I didnt have this problem before i had to restore it from the update freeze. Is there another Monterey in the U.S.A. or is it just the ipod?
My computer (Toshiba Windows 7) does it too, but i dont remember if it did it before my ipod froze.
    Please help!

I didnt think it was obvious. Everyone I asked always told me it was a different time zone. Well whatever, thanks.

  • Renaming radio station: name keeps changing back

If I select a radio station, right click "get info" and change the name on the second tab, the name of the radio station successfully changes. However, much to my annoyance, when I double-click the station, the name changes back to the name broadcasted.
    Can I prevent this behavior?
    (ITunes 7, Windows XP)

Are you saying that this is another thing that has
    stopped working in V7?
Well, dunno. I heard so many people say they like itunes so I decided to try it. In other words, I never tried V6 I just downloaded the newest version.
Since this is not the only issue I've experienced with itunes thus far, I think I will de-install, go back to winamp or whatever and stay away from apple apps for just a little while longer again.
BTW: Thanks for the post polydorus!

  • Mail Window Size Keeps Changing

I've had this erratic bug ever since upgrading to snow leopard:
I generally keep mail open, and just have the window closed, and let DockStar do some work in terms of notifications.
Problem is that my window size keeps on changing. When I click on the mail icon to open it up (I always resize to full screen), the mail program opens up in a very small window, probably about 500x600. Sometimes it opens in full screen as I want, other times it opens to this minimized view.
It is very hard to exactly reproduce, but happens probably 1/4 to 1/5 of the time at least.
The problem with this is that it also resizes the left panel so EVERY TIME I open it up, I have to resize both the window and the left bar panel.
I found a complaint that sounded similar that had the user remove the preference file, then recreate it, but this hasn't solved the problem.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how to fix it?!?!

    Here's something I've noticed:
    1. When I uninstalled Dockstar, all problems went away. There's definitely something going on here.
    2. When I reinstalled Dockstar, I am now only having problems with Mail remembering that one of my mailboxes is set to "organize by thread." (I had this problem before in addition to the window resizing). However, the window resizing problem seems to be gone (for today, at least).
    Here's what's different:
    1. I installed GrowlMail after they updated to a 64bit preference pane. (Not sure how this would impact it, but who knows...)
    2. Last time, I just installed the newest copy of Dockstar over the old one. This time, I uninstalled the old one and reinstalled Dockstar cleanly.
Do you feel like verifying if this is true for you too?

  • Going back in Finder Windows doesn't go back to previews folder

    Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me. Ok, say I'm clicking a folder. I double click on a folder and when I want to go back and look for another folder, I hit the back button and rather than it return back to the folder I just double clicked, the finder window resets to the top. I then have to scroll all the way down to continue where I left off. Is there a solution for this using icon view. This is driving me nuts!!
    Please helppppppppppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Thanks in advance.

    Use cmd-up arrow instead.

  • Environment fonts keep changing back to default

In order for my UIs to look good on all my deployed systems (usually windows xp or 7) I change all the environmental fonts (Tools>Options>Environmental>Fonts) to Tahoma (and, of course, set the init file to use tahoma for all these fonts).  Lately I've been noticing that every once in a while I will open LabVIEW and the fonts will be changed back to their defaults.  Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone have a good work around?  It is frustrating because I usually don't notice this has happened until I've finished aligning multiple elements and then realize I have to change the font and align them again.
Note: I'm developing in LabVIEW 2012 on a Windows 7 pc.

    Hey Gollum,
I found what seems to be causing your issue. There is a bug in LabVIEW 2010 and later that causes custom font tokens to be overwritten when any other change occurs in the LabVIEW.ini file. The Corrective Action Request (CAR) ID Number is 256978. The issue was fixed in LabVIEW 2013 (http://www.ni.com/white-paper/14541/en/).

  • Colour option keeps changing back to grey scale

I imported a photo into illustrator CC  and I then live traced it and expanded it.   When I select it the colour options are grey scale.  I can change the option but if I click off the image the options go back to grey scale.  The doc colour set up is cmyk.    How do I get it to stay on a different option without having to keep switch it all the time?

Step 1 -  import colour photo
Step 2 - change colour options and colour mode to cmyk
Step 3 - Image trace default
    Step 4 - expand
Step 5  - direct select parts of expanded image to change the colours
Step 6 - open colour options menu and see that it is grey scale
Step 7 - change it again to cmyk and choose a colour
Step 8 - direct select new part of expanded image
Step 9 - goto colour options again which has changed back to grey scale
Step 10 - change again to cmyk and pick a colour
Maybe this is normal behaviour??  But seems really cumbersome to have to keep on changing it for everything I select. I just want it to stay on cmyk not revert to what is selected.

  • Finder window in apps won't show files after upgrading to Mavericks

Has anyone encountered a situation where you are working within an application and do a File->Open kind of dialog and when you select a directory the spinner just spins forever and nothing is shown in that directory  (when you KNOW there's something there)?
I am having this problem randomly. For instance, I opened Sublime Text 2, went to File->Open, navigated to a directory and nothing showed up. The spinner went round and round as if it was waiting on something. I closed the dialog, tried again, and it worked fine.  It's happening regularly, but I can't seem to reproduce it.
    Any others experiencing this?

Tonight, Finder just plain wouldn't open any folder after popping up on Apple Mai
Ok, this isn't an issue that some NON-Apple program isn't calling Finder correctly. This was Apple MAIL for God's sake. I went to attach a document, and then FINDER just wouldn't open any sub folder. Not ONE. The little "circle of wait" was spinning, and I let it for 10 minutes!  Nothing ever came up.
THANK GOD for Path Finder, a Finder substitute that runs rings around the native functionality.  I was able to easily open it, and drag files to Apple Mail and send the files.
What this tells me is, again, NOBODY at Apple is doing beta testing. I am honestly about to just put my Mac up for sale and go back to Windows ( I NEVER thought I'd say that!)

  • Can't change back to white menu bar and dock

When I uncheck the box, it just stays with the dark menu bar and dock.
How can i make it change again? I'm running the latest version of Yosemite 10.10.2
    http://i.imgur.com/dlXyyUt.png

    Do a backup.
    Quit the application System Preferences.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

I am using the default firefox theme 9.1 version. I was typing and must have hit some odd key combination and now all my browser screns have a greenish blue background. I want to change it back to white, but following the options menu for color does not change it

Does this still happen if you restart Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]? For more instructions, see [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
Does this only affect Firefox, or does it affect other programs on your computer too?
